Converging by chance on a years old Mega Man Battle Network thread, a few long time fans embark on a great speed running quest...

More than a decade after the release of the first Mega Man Battle Network game, the entire series will be run, back-to-back, this August 16th starting at 7:30pm EST.

#TeamBN is putting on a Mega Man Battle Network marathon to entertain the masses, showcase a great series, and raise money for Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières).

WHEN: August 16th @ 7:30pm EST - August 17th @ Midnight (~28.5 hours)

There's some marathon going on almost every weekend anymore, it's crazy but awesome Smiley

We wanted to have the marathon earlier, but had to push it back a week. This was the date that worked best for the runners.

Thanks for bringing that up though, PJ. Hopefully both marathons will get lots of viewers Smiley

Good luck with the marathon, it will be kinda hard going up against happy tails though I think the shorter run time of yours should work in your favor Smiley

Well now, this is a surprise. Moseyed on over here from Something Awful when I was told of this! I'll certainly be keeping an eye on this. I've sent a Twitch PM to the mmbnmarathon address, but I see no reason not to pop up here as well. Well, aside from likely being irritating...

Depending on how things work, would it be possible for me to assist in some way, ideally with the commentary? I've been Let's Playing the series on Something Awful for the past 2 and a half years, so I figured it might be helpful to offer such a thing. If it's not feasible, I'll probably just hang out on the Twitch chat during the marathon and do my best to assist there.

To be fair, the original date was this weekend and Otakon is this weekend. Which means any of the ~130k in attendance for that (myself included) wouldn't be able to watch it then either.

I'm glad to hear that! Truth be told, I was a bit nervous about speaking up, as I figured I'd be unwelcome given I'm just poofing out of nowhere. Well, if you want contact information or something, I'll happily provide it and you can give me instructions on how to go about commentating on things. I should be able to stick around for most of the marathon, minus a nap break at some point, as my schedule is completely open during those days.

We'll likely be finalizing everything this week. Shoot me a message on Twitch or #SpeedRunsLive IRC for contact information. I don't have the details for the mumble server but most of the setting up will probably use skype anyway.

@Epee Em Glad you spoke up, there's only a handful of us putting this on and with everyone running a game, having a dedicated commentator on hand could really help Smiley

Also, given the exact schedule now, playing Network Transmission would've been great to do for this marathon. Given that it starts in 3 days though, I think I'll pass. I kinda miss playing that game.

Yeah, there are several games that we want to be in the marathon but don't have anyone to run them yet. Network Transmission, 4.5, and a few others. Perhaps in a future marathon Smiley
