Daniel Enright's Blue version run
Verifier Responses
The runner responded about Bubbleman and codes:
After that explanation, the verifier was satisfied.
Decision: Accept
Reason: Everyone is going gaga over the luck manipulation and optimization. Just one thing, Bowlman? Really Capcom, really? There aren't enough objects in the universe to avoid making a utensil-based robot master?

version differences between white and blue are very minor...mostly referring to Giga Chips, which are not used during this run at all. for further reference:

The run is one of the sickest runs I ever watched! I wonder why this game was not TAS'ed when such a time is possible without tool-assist.
I will just refer to the Pros, because there aren't any Cons.
+ The planning was awesome. So much planning had to be done to execute this run properly, and it all went well and as planned, obviously.
+ The chips used were superior and matching for all situations. the folder editing was kept to a minimum, so there was barely time wasted.
+ MUCH efford was put into luck manipulation. not only the GMDs, but also the planning of Untrap subchips and the money he needed for HP mems and certain chips from shops. He manipulated the chip draws for each important fight as well, mostly to get VarSwrd.
+ The use of his own discovery, the guaranteed success of running with a certain amount of max HP. that was propably one of the best discoveries in MM games, ever. There was NO pointless virus fight at all due to this feature.
+ Bosses were utterly raped. Mostly using VarSwrd of which he had 3 which is quite impressive. Also the RockCube blow on FlashMan and other bosses was very impressive, too.
+ He used the NumberMan codes he really needed.
+ Superior use of the NaviCustomizer in almost all situations.
+ Nice execution of the Charge program on the plants and on the flames. Nice planning here, too.
+ Alpha fight was awesome with 2 VarSwrds and MasterStyle usage. Gives a laugh for the final boss actually Smiley and that segment turned out pretty well, as there was no opportunity to save between Bass and Alpha.
-> Difference: BowlMan (blue) and MistMan (white): They both have 1000 HP, while BowlMan is easier to hit. But due to the use of VarSwrd it hardly makes a difference.
+ Overall, the pathing was really well planned, no useless GMD or BMD was collected and the Zenny were just enough to buy the needed HP mems, so there was no time waste on collecting too much Zenny.
+ There was no discrepancy between Segments, the character was facing the right directions before and after the save.
+ Audio and Video quality is really good.
+ Very entertaining, even for such a long run.
+ No deaths, no cheats. NumberMan codes are part of the game.
-------------
= the only possible Conclusion: Accept.

I am really looking forward to another MMBN run of that dude, maybe the mentioned MMBN6 in his thread![Smiley](/file/Pz%2Fcj6ngNFMHn%2BnxTNlCutk1Ef8)

First things first, for mikwuyma.
The Blue, White, and even the Japanese only Black version(If we count it), does make a difference here, not because of Giga Chip differences, but because of store differences as well which will force the runner to change their strategy. There is also a mandatory boss fight that is changed between the versions. Blue Version's Bowlman is much easier than the White Version's Mistman.
Now for the run itself.
Video and Audio quality: Perfect.
Cheating: I want to say no cheating, but there is something odd in Part 8 against Bubbleman. At 6:40, the runner choose the FullCust chip as well as a few others, uses it, and goes back into the menu. Next he chooses the Bolt * Chip at 6:44 and uses it at 6:47. With weakness, the chip should do only 420 damage, leaving Bubbleman with 380 HP (Starting HP is 800), yet it 1 kills him in 1 hit. In the first fight (Part 4 from 27:52-28:10), the runner uses AreaGrab and VarSword's LifeSword, then uses the Bolt chip which kills Bubbleman in 2 hits. In that form, he has 500 HP. I have tested the chip myself and know it does not hit more than once as I've tried multiple times, and its not possible to charge that chip in any way.
Another thing that could be considered as cheating is the button codes to compress the NaviCust programs, but I believe those are given ingame along with the ModTool and Numberman machine Codes.
Run in general: Right now as I type this, I am rewatching the run, mostly the boss fights as they are, as the runner said, "the best part of the game." Included will be some mandatory fights and other comments I made while watching.
Part 1:
The Mystery Data collection for the Zenny was really good. I really wonder how many times he restarted the segment to try and get the GMD's to drop them.
Flashman's fight was superb. I questioned the speed at first till I realized he was trying to get the 10 Bug Frags for counter killing him.
Gutsman's fight was similar. I could tell he was going for the Bug Frags in this fight though since Gutsman is the Bug Frag Farmer for players.
Part 2:
Gutsman V2 fight was done as fast as possible by losing. Winning would just take too long. The runner gets a lot of RegUps to put Gutsman's chip in memory and it helps with the survival matches he must do for the N1 Grand Prix.
Runner receives the NaviCust and finds the SneakRun program in the Zoo's computer. Uses a button code to compress the program for future segments.
Beastman went pretty well. No complaints with the combination he did.
Part 3:
Runner uses the Numberman Machine to input number codes to get special chips, navicust programs, and a subchip to use. Runner compresses the Airshoes and FastGauge programs he received.
Style Change was in favor of the runner. From the way the rest of the run went, it was the perfect choice. Elec element for the Bolt Chip, and Custom Style for better chip selection.
Bubbleman battle is definitely a highlight of the run. It probably could be faster if he didn't try to use AreaGrab and VarSword's Lifesword ability, but instead use the HeroSword one to hit Bubbleman. All in all though, no complaints.
Part 4:
Runner does a job to get some extra zenny. When arriving at Beach, he purchases the ModTools and uses them to give himself SuperArmor for the fight against KingMan.
KingMan went perfect, no complaints.
Runner goes for the IceBall M chip early on so he doesn't have to try and get it in the next part. Nice time saver here, along with jacking out and back in after getting the key.
Metalman went well considering he had to use a specific folder. The after battle 3 minutes are unavoidable and must be dealt with sadly.
The folder chosen was the perfect choice to take out Gutsman here.
Kingman was the same as before, and perfect a 2nd time.
Desertman battle was superb as well. Bolt and the ESW proves to still be cheap yet effective.
Runner purchases the FullCust* from the BugFrag trader. Its impossible to get it here in the White version.
Part 5:
The hospital computers went well. My only complaint is the Viney virus that he's forced to fight. He waits for the vine to appear before attacking, which does nothing, but later on he kills it instantly with the VarSword's ESW because of the Flame Wave. He has the VarSword this time, so why not do the same thing?
The Goofball fight was perfect.
Plantman went down perfectly. Only way it could be faster is to have the 2 VarSwords at the exact start.
Part 6:
At the mandatory battle at 1:10, the runner seems to hesitate with his chips.
Runner fights random battles to get water element chips
Flameman....wow even with the candles, he did really well in coming with a good strategy.
Bass.......unwinnable.
Hurray for Emo Lan. And hurray he's gone fast.
Part 7:
Oh boy the rankings...probably one of the most boring parts I played.
Copyman was fast thanks to VarSword.
Bowlman could of been faster when choosing chips in the beginning.
Drillman was the fastest of all the boss fights and the biggest highlight of the run.
Part 8
All the boss refights here. Flashman goes down faster this time around, Bubbleman I explained above, Desertman needed a bit of change this time around due to more health, but still good, Plantman and Flamman down perfectly, and Drillman's refight was just the first one again.
Bass went down really quickly.
Alpha went down pretty fast. I do wonder if not using FullCust was a good idea.
Overall, I would accept this if it wasn't for the 2nd Bubbleman fight fiasco. For all I know, it could of been a glitch and not a normal cheat.

The runner responded about Bubbleman and codes:
Quote:
Runner: oh yeah, second fight with bubbleman
Runner: bolt targets all obstacles on the field, and then anything around them takes damage
Runner: the bubbles produced from the center of his side of the field count as obstacles
Runner: and given certain positions of obstacles, bolt can hit twice
Runner: as for compression codes, and codes for the modtools, you don't need to have found them to use them
Runner: and the number trader codes as well

After that explanation, the verifier was satisfied.

the run was very well planned out, especially considering the game only has 1 save file. He has to think 10 segments ahead about how much money, bug frags, or battlechips he needs and he never had to "farm" for items, which is definately a plus

Verifier: This is about the mm battle network 3 blue run verification...
Verifier: Everything looked legit, high quality playing and great route planning. Large amounts of luck manipulation overall.
Verifier: A final game time of 3:34, if thats what will be used.
Verifier: Ah about 2 catagories, white and blue : I see no reason for it really. All the bosses are beaten quite quickly, and version specific chips/situations really are not used or faster in blue. If someone beat this run with the white version, I'd say replace this one.
Verifier: What I mean is one catagory...
Verifier: And that should be it.
