I decided to make a new topic on this because of the rearrangement in forums and the discussion was in the wrong topic to begin with and its quite old aswell Tongue

I finished/captured part 1 for Max Payne New York Minute today. Here is the list of my times (SDA's current record listed first):

pro1: 0:19 - 0:17 =  2  seconds faster
p1c1: 2:06 - 1:47 = 19 seconds faster
p1c2: 2:28 - 2:01 = 27 seconds faster
p1c3: 2:05 - 1:25 = 40 seconds faster
p1c4: 2:16 - 1:32 = 44 seconds faster
p1c5: 1:41 - 1:22 = 19 seconds faster
p1c6: 3:19 - 2:48 = 31 seconds faster
p1c7: 2:51 - 2:16 = 35 seconds faster
p1c8: 3:42 - 2:34 = 1 minute 8 seconds faster
p1c9: 1:52 - 1:14 = 38 seconds faster

That makes the total time 17:16, which is 57 seconds slower than the Remedy par time but its 5:23 faster than Ben's time. The Remedy par time is truly insane, but its not impossible. If you skip all the painkillers (i.e. take no damage) and optimize the movement it's very possible. After all, its only about 5 seconds improvement on each level.

p1c4 was a pain in the ass. But today I got it, although when I killed Rico Muerte and the mobs in the next room, I got overly careful not to mess up the run. So a 10+ seconds improvement is possible but it's gonna be hard :P. Rest of the levels were easy as hell compared to p1c4.

So there ya go, Mkt2015 Shocked

MGS for PS1 forever.
How many times did you have to play P1 C7?
one-armed bandit
Yeah, it took quite a lot of tries aswell, I'd say about 25 recorded attempts, before that I played around without recording couple of times to find some possible tricks.

I used 2 minor tricks to get it faster, also I got very lucky in the last part of the level, where you have to kill tons of mobs and vinnie Tongue

Well, I'm sorry, but I'm probably not going to try and improve your times. Right now since I actually have a job I barely have 5 hours a day to play a game and I'd rather not spend that time trying to get through one freakin level.

I am a bit surprised that you were able to improve the times for 8 and 9 as well. I knew 9 could be improved...I just didn't know how much. The levels only get harder. I can sort of see you getting though all of Part 2, but Part 3 will...I'm sure, put your patience to its limit.

From personal experience I think it would be harder for a person to kill the enemies than to just run past them.  Tongue

Anyway...have fun...keep up the good work...and I hope to see all the improvements when you're done.

I finished part2 today, here is the list of my times:

pro2: 1:22 - 0:57 = 25 seconds faster
p2c1: 2:14 - 1:33 = 41 seconds faster
p2c2: 4:25 - 2:33 = 1 minute 52 seconds faster
p2c3: 5:17 - 3:31 = 1 minute 46 seconds faster
p2c4: 1:36 - 1:12 = 24 seconds faster
p2c5: 2:06 - 1:05 = 1 minute 1 second faster

That makes my total time 28:07, which is 26 seconds slower than Remedy's par time at this point. But it really is 31 seconds faster than Remedy's part2 time :o. Total improvement on SDA's record is 11minutes 32seconds at this point.

I bet you're wondering about pro2, p2c4 and p2c5 times, but I don't wanna spoil all the fun by revealing the tricks Tongue Although, p2c5 might make you think "why the hell did he do that" but when my times get posted 'n stuff, I'll tell you :P. The trick in p2c5 is very random so I accepted the 5seconds which I lost because I took way too much damage and accidentally took beretta when I was supposed to take DE :P. But it's pretty minor anyway.

Anyways, I can't wait for part3 and making this run faster than Remedy's Tongue
MGS for PS1 forever.
You might have to redo them because so far another guy has gotten better times on all of them except for pro1. Looks like you'll probably have to start all over. Tongue

Edit: You mean on part2 aswell?

Edit: Well I'm doing part3 anyway Tongue

All of his part 1 and part 2 times are faster.

It would be most appreciated if could you get him or if you could post his times here.

Well, anyway, its funny that someone else figured out to shoot the enemy between the wall and the closing door in p2c5 Tongue I shot him there by accident when I was practising :p

Uh. Ok. So killing enemies really reduces time and rolling is faster than running. Back to work then. Tongue

- I see a 0:15 prologue1. Smiley

- nice job in p2c3 I always tried that but could never get it to work :P. but atleast now I know its possible.

- you missed my trick in p2c5, so definately under 1:00 is possible now.

- nice trick jumping over the flame in p3c2, although it was pretty obvious. Smiley

You won the race against clock! Smiley

Update: I managed to record a 0:15 prologue1 Shocked

Update: I'm not so sure anymore if killing reduces time.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
I have got something for you: you thought 52 sec are fast for Part II Chapter 3? Then watch this:

http://home.arcor.de/rudolf.bornschlegel/1/PartIIChapter3.avi

It is 21 sec. I recorded it in 2003 but I did not know where to send it.

well there is 28 seconds run on that same level, too bad you dont show the end time because the game always adds up a little time to it Sad

but nice run anyway
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
... I dont see this run on this page. So why isnt it uploaded when it is 28 secs? I even made a slightly faster run, but didnt record in. But you can view the screenshot here: http://home.arcor.de/rudolf.bornschlegel/1/1.jpg

killing gives you definitly extra time (- 2sec). you can see it in my run: i just tip the door open (at 10 sec) so that the enemy inside kills himself by shooting at an explosive container.

could some of the admins delete my mail adress from my posts before? i dont want my mail adress to be found by spam harvesters.

we were talking about max payne here, not max payne 2. In max payne 2 killing reduces time ofc :P.

well the run is there, look more closely under the p2c3 time. (w/shortcut)

sorry my fault... i found it

Ok, This is Max Payne 2 then :P.

I found this glitch a long time ago but I couldn't pull it off after it first happened. But recently I was talking to xeen about some glitches and I decided to try it out. I made a nice video out of it :P.
