Next run officially planned. Currently practicing.
Would these kinds of speed runs be accepted here at SDA? I have a lot of very good time trails for this game. (They dominate the staff ghosts.) I could record me doing them over again, and submit each time trail as a segment. Some of my times are:

Figure-8 Circuit:
My time: 1:28:720
Staff Ghost: 1:36:481

Luigi's Mansion:
My time: 1:52:343
Staff Ghost: 1:59:357

Bowsers Castle:
My time: 2:17:960
Staff Ghost: 2:19:661

GBA Peach Circuit:
My time: 1:06:652
Staff Ghost: 1:12:011

GCN Mushroom Bridge:
My time: 1:24:318
Staff Ghost: 1:30:600

These are not perfect times. There where a couple of screw-ups. When I record them, I will only submit absolutely perfect ones of all the tracks. That is, if these kinds of runs are aloud.
Thread title:
I'm sure they would be, but bear in mind SDA is huuuuuuugely stingy about the quality of DS camera recordings.

Hate to break it to you, but those times are not that good.

Most of those times can be improved by 10 - 15 seconds.  Are you snaking (mini-turbos throughout the entire race)?

Just to show you:
Missed like 3 mini-turbos, and overall some route errors, I think this course (with this strat), could go as low as low 1:57 or high 1:56.

The video has terrible quality, and the audio is way off, so there's no way this would ever get on SDA, but still.

Ah. Yes I do use snaking, but my problem is that I don't have a clear idea as to what kart to use in each track. Keep in mind that all of those time trail times I posted have several errors.

Takes a lot of work to get used to snaking, doesn't it? Tongue

Search the above site for vids and whatnot to help you improve your times.  Also, feel free to change the BLSs to Egg1s or polts if it's too hard.
Below are the times that, IMO, would be the bare minimum for SDA. Anything slower would get rejected (I hope so at least) because the best players in the world can race within a couple of seconds of their personal records (world records) in no more than a couple of attempts. There's no real point in hosting anything that can easily be beaten by more than 500 players, which about what you would rank at www.mariokart64.com/mkds with those times by the way.

My suggestion: check out these videos for strategies and try to be at least in the top 50 in every track at www.mariokart64.com/mkds before you even consider submitting here. I apologize if I sounds rude but that's just how it should be. Note: I don't know what would be the ruling here at SDA regarding PRB and non-PRB. I've taken non-PRB times (which are actually slower) but it wouldn't surprise me if they allowed PRB.

Figure-8 Circuit:
Your time: 1:28:720
SDA: 1:15.0
World record: 1'14"164

Luigi's Mansion:
Your time: 1:52:343
SDA: 1:34.0
World record: 1'32"219

Bowsers Castle:
Your time: 2:17:960
SDA: 1:55.0
World record: 1'52"777

GBA Peach Circuit:
Your time: 1:06:652
SDA: 0:56.0
World record: 0'55"301

GCN Mushroom Bridge:
Your time: 1:24:318
SDA: 1:11.0
World record: 1'10"363

Don't be surprised if it takes you 8 months to reach those BTW.
Sorry for thread necromancy, but I'd love to ressurect this thread since I just got into Mario Kart DS again.

I am practicing on Figure-8 Track now and have improved my time by 2-3 seconds in 2 days of practicing using Poltergust 4000.

Track Record
1:25:786
Lap Record
0:27:999

If I manage to get my lap record every round, I should manage to get around 1:24:xxx.

But seeing the world record being around 12 seconds faster, there is lots of room for improvement :). My goal for now is to get sub 1:20:000.

I suggest to move this thread to casual speedrunning though, since neither the thread starter nor me manage to get close to any wr :).
defying gravity
It would be so awesome to have a close-to-wr recording for each of the tracks. Let alone because this game is so freaking difficult to master.
Stand: Devil's Call in your Heart
the only time i considered running this game was a 32-race SS run like i did in MKWii but the amount of MTs is insane and i'm not good enough for that (i'm below 250th in the MKDS player's page) and i don't even have the equipment for it.

this game is very demanding, especially to record steadily. i hope one of the top players get interested at least to make a SS run since ILs are pretty insane.
