hey you nicely doin' speerunners out there, i was wondering... if there is a mario kart 64 speed run... and some is trying the snes mario kart speedrun... then i think i wanna try the mario kart double dash speedrun, i got the pal versions and the tv to pc converter so i can record everything, im pretty much all set  Grin

no i just want to know how to set up the speed run... like do i have to play every single course with every character or car like the mk64 run? or can i just play the all cup tour (a cup where you play all the maps in one big segment) coz that would be way easier then having so many little file on every course  Roll Eyes

aighty dudes and dudetts, just tell me what you think, thanks already. later speedies  Wink

I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
You can find some MKDD vids here:

http://timetrial.mkdd.free.fr/index.php?lang=gb

Maybe it would be a good idea to put these vids on SDA so they can all be hosted in the same place and on a faster server.  The only problem is that it might be hard to find out what the dates are for all the vids, since the dates listed on the site is just when the vid was added and not when the time was achieved.  As for SMK vids, I think this topic has links to all the fastest vids:

If SDA hosts SMK vids, would it be just NBT, or both NBT and non-NBT?
dude this is nice man, i thought no one did anything yet. but it sucks having all the videos spread out... cant all the speedrunsite unite or something like that? or can sdm import the vids from their site? if they dont oh trust me ill do the speedrun for this site only  Roll Eyes  Grin

I had a hard time figuring out what NBT is, but from what I gather non-NBT is one of those "glitchless" movements, in which case SDA would solely be concerned with NBT. SDA doesn't make up random rules for specific games.

EDIT: I see... NBT is "New boosting techniques", and has a two page topic debate about what is and is not NBT. Non-NBT would be diametrically opposed to SDA's entire rule philosphy.
Do'h! Homer'D!
Yeah SDA would probably allow NBT. The non-NBT rankings were done mostly because there were players against them, and they can make huge differences in some courses such as the MC races, DP1, GV1, and probably others too.

To clarify if some people don't know what it is, NBT=new boosting technique. In SMK you get a "boost" when you do a powerslide that lasts somewhere over 2 seconds. The boost is only released when you let go your powerslide and stop "turning". The thing is that you can keep your boost for a while by doing zig-zags and then use the boost to cut some parts of grass/sand, or in GV1, to make the jump easier.

Light Speed! *shoom!*
SDA should definitely allow NBT.  The skill was definitely programmed into the game, and I don't know of any warps or glitches capable with NBTs.  There isn't any definitely large outcry against the usage of it, either.

By the way, the skill isn't timed.  When you slide, then you tilt the control stick in the opposite direction to make your skid sparks change color.  When they change color twice, then a NBT is charged up.  I've gotten one charged in less than a second before.

How could someone call this a "new" boost technique? I "discovered" it the first time I played the game. It's really "the only boost technique, unless you suck".

Edit: Oh wait, I thought this "NBT" thing was for SMKDD, not SMK. In which case I didn't discover it the first time I played.
