Hey all,

Most of you haven't heard of me I'm sure.  I'm not part of the SDA team streams list (I'd like to be) and I'm not yet listed on SRL (I'd like to be) - but I'd have more fun with my attempts if people interested in the game would jump on and hang out for awhile.

I just started up my stream at http://www.twitch.tv/elipsys after futzing with cabling for about an hour.  I should be at it for quite a few hours.  I'll be going for PB, with some chance at a WR, on Marble Madness.  And I'd be happy to have some viewers drop by.

I'm hoping to do this regularly, until I pull off my goal.

Had a few runs under 3:00, I need to resplit them and find out which one was actually the best and get that up as a highlight.

Thanks to everyone who dropped by.  No WR this time so I'm sure I'll be doing it again.  I can feel it wanting to come out.

First PB: 2:58.4
And then a few hours later: 2:57.4
Nice work! Smiley

Getting close! This is one of my favorite games, and I may actually revisit this game for an updated speedrun sometime soon. Good luck beating my time; It's definitely beatable, and I'm sure you've got the skills.
Thanks man!  Given the results of my first big console streaming session, I'm feeling like I have a WR run inside of me.

I'd be absolutely thrilled to get a WR, even if it only lasted for a short time - I would be really happy to have a place in the historybook for one of my favorite games.

Now that I have a functioning stream / capture setup, I'm hoping that if I make regular attempts at this - within a number of weeks I'll be able to give you a good reason to revisit the game.  My sum of best is staring at me.  I think I have a really strong chance at it if I can manage to line up a beastly Advanced and Silly race in the same run, wand willing.
Hi! I'm andrewg!
What kind of time do you think a perfect run would be? I think 2:48 might be realistic...but its been some time since i played, so i could be off on that. I know for sure sub 2:50 is a real possibility. Anyway, hope you get the run you want! Im rooting for you. I always love seeing people run the games I love. Its fun to have serious competition.

Ya know, I keep changing (ie: lowering) my estimate on this every few weeks.  I just realized that my 2:57.4 run has a gold split on advanced race and watching it I think "How the fuck is that a gold split?"  I compared it to my previous gold and it turns out that even though I hit the hammers I'm taking every corner just a *bit* faster than I did a month ago and it added up.

I do a lot of work with video editing to study my runs, YOUR run, and the TAS to try to determine exactly where I'm gaining / losing time.  My sum of best right now is 2:48, and this is absolutely achievable by a human.  Getting into sub-split analysis, (ie: the best I've ever taken every CORNER), I believe I could shave a quarter second off of my best Intermediate / Advanced / Silly races - making an absolutely perfect race a 2:47 - but that would require every little thing to go perfectly.

Then, there is "TAS-y bullshit".  Every hundred runs or so, something insane will happen that puts me AHEAD of my route.  My most common response to this is to immediately lose control of the marble and fly wildly off the stage.  Every once in awhile I get it back under control.  There are a number of things like this that which, if you got them all, might get you a 2:46.  There are a few others, but my favorite so far:

Intermediate Race Double Bounce

-It is marginally faster, after going through the pipe, to dump the marble off the left side of the downwards ramp as early as you can without cracking it.  On rare occasions, this will lead to a screenbounce (blasting you to the right) and then a bounce off the side of the ramp you just jumped off of (blasting you straight down).  When this happens you are so far ahead that you are basically playing the last part of Intermediate blind.  I never actually go for this, and have only recovered it and finished the race once.

I could start going for things like this... but the most likely result is that I'll never ever finish a run again.

I really appreciate the encouragement, especially considering who it's coming from.
After a few months of other things... I have fallen back to Madness.
