My feelings on The Demon Rush
Yes, we have rules and guidelines this year. Most of these rules were unwritten rules last year, but it never hurts to make sure the rules are known. Attached to this post is the 4-H Center Code of Conduct form. Most of it should be obvious by now, but give the form a look-see just in case. Ignore the part about no organized activities past 11 pm, I already cleared that with the center.
General
-The Center requires shirt and shoes at all times. We require pants, especially since Frezy_Man can't come to the marathon.
-For the sake of everyone else, shower regularly*. Also, the center has coin laundry, so if your clothes are getting a little old, don't hesitate spending a couple of dollars to keep them fresh.
If you're really bad about showering, then the Emptyeye clause will kick in: "If Mike/Breakdown/Flip decide you smell, they have the right to Febreze you; if you refuse, they have the right to tell you to get out and don't come back until you take a damn shower."
-Remember, if the center can't see the food, there isn't any.
-Don't break the no-alcohol rule. Seriously, just don't. You're not the only one in trouble if you're caught, we all get into trouble.
Commentary
-Our stream is pg-13. You can occasionally swear, but don't do an f-bomb rant.
-The chat is not a teleprompter. Do not say everything that is mentioned in the chat. Not only is it impossible to do, your commentary will be poor as a result.
-On a similar note, in-game text is not a script. Not every line on screen needs to be spoken out loud. However, I give Essentia a voice acting pass because her Cranky Kong is too cute.
-Do not plan surprises. Surprises are only surprising if they surprise everyone. Planning a surprise annoys people and comes off as contrived. The one exception is prizes.
-Do not speak ill of the charity, even if you don't agree with what they do 100%. PCF is a good charity and have gone out of their way to support us; I'd like to return the favor.
-You also shouldn't put down other sites and charity groups, it's petty and makes us look bad.
-The same thing goes for forum members. If you have a beef with someone, keep it off-stream.
-Respect Serious Time. It shouldn't happen often, but there are going to be moments when people need to focus, and if they want everyone to be quiet, then BE QUIET. (commentators mentioning donation comments can go on as normal).
-If you're responding to someone in the chat - particularly if it's for something important like donations or prizes - please mention who actually made the comment. None of this "someone says" stuff we had going on for most of last year.
-No responding to anyone whose name starts with "J" and ends with "H10".
This will be pretty obvious to most people not to feed troll behavior in general, but if we have a few known trollers then just flat out ignoring them is the best way to handle them.
-Do not try to add or remove games without Mike's permission. We are running on a schedule, and I would like to follow it.
-Challenges are generally permitted, but only if they're requested by someone in the chat. If a challenge is going to make us go over the allotted time in the schedule by 2+ minutes, then ask Mike, Breakdown, or Flip about it.
-If you break the above rules too often or disrupt the commentary too much, we (Mike, Breakdown, and Flip) will pull you from commentary at our discretion.
-Most importantly, have fun! One of the reasons why the last marathon was so great is because the atmosphere was casual, and we all relaxed and had fun.
*With soap.
