While looking around for games to play, I stumbled over this lovely gem.  While doing a full "Arcade run" shouldn't be too much of a problem, there was one thing that caught my eye, and that was the "Knockdowns," "Rounds," and "Round Time."  Initially, the setting are placed on for three Knockdowns, five rounds and 60 second round times.  However, if you so chose to, you can set it to where if you knock your opponent down once, you win, and can set up one "15 second" round, which means after 15 seconds, if no one goes down, the winner with the most health wins.

My question here is pretty simple: Are you allowed to change the settings so that instead of three knockdowns, it is one?  and to see for setting the overall round time to a lower number?  If so, that would mean that the runner can set this up and it would be a challenge in itself to knock out 12 opponents in under 15 seconds each.

you can modify any setting you like, thing is if people care or not to accept your run, are there difficulty settings on top? because you can argue you are playing on easy mode if not

Sounds like it would come down to a 'category' issue.

This sounds about right...

But personally to play it safe, I'd go with default settings as the "proper" (heavy quotes there) settings.
Willing to teach you the impossible
My opinion...

Most all fighting games are best 2 out of 3, why change that? Or just leave it as default as the game was based on that round count for one reason or another. The round timer should not be changed as it should not matter as the runner should beat each fighter much faster than the timer settings anyway. If you change it to 15 seconds and you are unable to beat each fighter within it, how awful would that look. Changing it to 15 seconds to me is the runner making a statement that they are able to beat each fighter within that amount of time no matter how bad the rng is. So that leaves difficulty.

hmm good point, if you set it to 15 seconds you better beat at least one fighter in less than that, otherwise its an "autoscroller" and cant be speedrun

http://speeddemosarchive.com/CastlevaniaJudgment.html --- yes, it's a category (this doesn't mean every combo of settings is its own category, though)
Exoray
Similar to Marvel Super Heroes there would probably only exist a limited set of settings that would be accepted.
Sounds like there could be a 1 round category as the "easy" setting and the arcade default as the normal.
I don't think anyone sees much point in making a run that just times out most rounds so the timer setting should probably be left on default for both categories.

I also did the one round thing on Art of Fighting.  And Mike always said the difficulty would be three categories, easiest, default and hardest.  I personally think fighting games should be one round just for sanity's sake.  Tongue
