So, does anyone know how feasible doing speed runs of this game would be?

Based on the game, it seems to me like it would be best suited to a format similar to that of the StarCraft speed runs, with a run for each individual level.

Free the Slaves
Elven Treachery
Quest for the Crown

Ah, I'd love to see runs of this, but would you measure it in real time, or ingame 'days'?
You read my mind. That's exactly what I thought of right after starting this topic, but it was too late and I had to go to bed.

Anyway, I've considered various possibilities over the past few hours at school, and I think that since there isn't really a way to set the bar to an exact amount, and there is likely to be a slight variation, the only way to do it real time would be either:
a) at the slowest speed, which would be insanely slow and boring
b) at the fastest speed, which would be insanely fast, and require really good reflexes

Therefore real time isn't exactly feasible. So it would have to use in-game days. The only problem with this is if two runs finish in the same number of days.

I'd need to check, but if there is not a hotkey that lets you increase or decrease the game speed(which makes days go by faster) without opening the options window, then by measuring the time between a change in days, and the time from the last change in minute to when they win, a fraction of a day can then be counted.

Thats easy enough, just make it a rule that you have to improve by at least 1 day otherwise it doesn't count.

That, and some maps have a time limit in days anyway.
Hmm... pie?
Or make a rule about the speed.

Like, everyone has to play on Fast Speed, so we can take the time.

I'd love to see someone winning the last one... never been able...

It would be incredible to see someone beat the harder levels on the fastest possible setting. I tried the Wizard's Curse on the fastest setting and it is sort of difficult keeping up with everything. I can't imagine what playing the hardest level at that speed would be like.

A minimum of 1 day improvement would work. Though if it's already extremely well done then doing better by an entire day might not be possible.

Also, added a list of levels to the first post.
The best thing about majesty is that you can't control the heroes. So you need to hope that the heroes will go for the reward and won't run in fear!!!

Run like hell!
Some faction have a resurrection spell, this comes in handy, when the heroes are in big trouble. Smiley
Wizards are extremely weak at low levels, but from level 8-10. they have a serious power to any enemies... However a vampire or an oculus also means to them a serious threat even on the higher levels.
I think the Temple to Krolm always needed at the quests, where dragons roam the land.

I can complete all of the original levels, but the expansion missions are too tough to me.

I always go for the Temple of Krolm if I can, if only for the 'Rage of Krolm' ability, especially in the really tough missions, it can mean the difference between life or death. And the Barbarians are pretty tough too.

Failing that, the Fervus ones are good too, with all the extra minions that get spawned and charmed.

Here's the time my copy of Majesty currently has in it - note these definitely aren't speed run times, most probably have a lot of pissing around, but it's a start.

Beginner
Rescue the Prince - 30 days
The Bell, the Book, and the Candle - 14 days
The Barren Waste - 31 days
The Forsaken Land - 11 days
The Wizard's Curse - 28 days

Advanced
Quest for the Holy Chalice - 27 days
A Deal with the Demon - not done.
Hold off the Goblin Hordes - 19 days
Quest for the Magic Ring - 26 days
Free the Slaves - 22 days
Elven Treachery - 24 days
Quest for the Crown - 30 days

Expert
Vengeance of the Liche Queen - 32 days
The Dark Forest - 41 days
The Day of Reckoning - not done
Brashnard's Ultimate Sphere of Power - 40 days
Slay the Mighty Dragon - not done
Tomb of the Dragon King - not done
The Fertile Plain - 23 days

I don't have the expansion unfortunately.

Obviously some of the easy ones can be drastically improved.

Hmm... pie?
I tried "The Forsaken Land" a few times and managed to finish by the end of the 7th day. Not sure low long that means on minutes/seconds.

That map is really annoying, it starts with lots of rats near your castle and they keep killing the peasants...

Also, it took me 4 days to find the castle and 3 days to destroy it (the heroes just wouldn't go... even with 6k reward).

It can be easily improved, but not much I think, tops would be like 5 days, maybe 6.

Hmm... pie?
So, I managed to beat it in 4 days!

Sadly, I got this time while testing the codecs... and had an awful one, that didn't even record the sound!

I could record on 1:1, but the video would be about 300 mb for 5 minutes... I doubt someone would like to see that.

Still trying to find a good codec...

This is the video:

ps: I've been using the default speed, "middle" one.
