It looks great so far. Thanks for the pics and videos, guys! I really should have gone to the get-together this year.. Oh well, I'll definitely make a better attempt next time to go to this :(. It would be great to meet a lot of you in person.
Also, those glitch demonstrations that andrew did in those videos were awesome.
I like that ark's blinded by the light and doesn't even bother moving.
Heh, I didn't think to avoid the light, so that was pretty torturous for my eyes. They're incredibly sensitive to light—always have to wear sunglasses outside, etc.—so I was struggling to keep them open while looking like I wasn't. Doesn't look like I did so well.

<nate> Alright guys, this decision could change the life of my hair forever.
That's seriously what it felt like. But I can hardly blame him; I'm very choosy about my shampoo as well: Head And Shoulders ftw.

Ark>> You don't fit in the group picture....take it as a compliment
Eh, I'm not really part of SDA, so I guess that fits.
Pretty spiffy putting all the hawt people (aka those without glasses) on one side of the group picture... except that kareshi had to go and ruin it.
BTW Frezy is amazingly sexy in person. Though MatrixTN definitely gives him a run for his money in that department.
Sorry me and mike didn't get an altered beast run done, I was honestly so burnt out from gaming that I couldn't play anymore. We will have to try it some other time. Playing all those awesome arcade games alllllll day (set up with real candy cabs!) obviously took a lot out of me.
Beating Frezy in the Ninja Gaiden 2 speedrun challenge was the best moment for me(bah, should have tried to beat him in the ng1 one as well but i was a pussy and didn't want to look stupid lol). We seriously should have just set up a bunch of challenges (or we can next year), and not have some random booth set them up and have a guy not paying attention at all timing us on his cell phone.
rotfl at that Panasonic promo vid. Go happiest people in the world.

edit: Do you play the SNES/Famicom?
Occasionally. I don't have my SNES anymore, so when I do play SNES games, it's on emu. I'm really not all that into NES/SNES games, but there are a few I always played as a kid that I still play semi-regularly, such as Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Zool, TMNT IV, Star Fox, EarthBound, and the DKCs, and for NES I've always enjoyed MM6, Contra, Duck Hunt, and StarTropics. But I'm pretty crap at most of the above, so at Mag I mainly watched far better players do their thing. Did play some Rock N' Roll Racing for the first time today, though (I sucked).

Actually I meant "you" as the whole bunch in MAGfest....so do you play any SNES-games? Read about the NES competition already
Folkskygg: Seems like everyone but me played them, haha. There weren't any SNES competitions, but there were plenty of SNESes hooked up with various games.. Street Fighter II was really popular of course, and I saw a lot of Super Mario Kart as well. NES stuff was probably more popular overall though.
Today's my 21st birthday. I had myself a birthday beer with Mike, and I set him up with Audacity and we recorded audio commentary for Dark Castle. It will be the single greatest audio commentary on SDA. =D
EDIT: Also, for the record, I'm 6'7". I bumped my head on the support-beam thingy in Mike's basement a couple of times =[ =[ =[
Also, I concur. Frezy is indeed amazingly sexy in person. ;-D

We (as in myself, Mike, Frezy, Breakdown, Enhasa, and Maur) recorded commentary for Frezy's Contra run as well. My taxi for the airport came in just as we had finished up, so I wasn't able to touch up on the editing/audio syncing (We recorded it on Mike's computer), but I think Mike and/or Nate can handle it without too much difficulty. I hope it comes within the next few updates. =D
Mike: "Let's record audio commentary for Contra!" Frezy: "But I don't have a plan!" Mike: "Be right back, our plan is up in the fridge." Breakdown: "Can you get me a plan as well?"
Before that though, we played The Red Star, switched around controllers so people could go upstairs to get mini-tacos, and Mike handed me the controller to play Kyuzo.
Mike: "K, you're the fat guy now." Me: "Wait, I'm the fat guy now?" Mike: "Well, no, I'm the fatass." Me: "No, Mike. You're not fat. You're doin' the big sexy."
Mike then proceeds to Penta flop on the floor.
That night is one for the books.
Either way, I'm back home, and I have to say that this event is easily the best game-related event I have attended. Everyone was very chill, and an overall awesome group of people to hang out with, especially since everyone was on-level. I really look forward to the next time we have a meet-up. =D
everyone was pretty much sexy. Even Radix. but all guys did not met him I guess.
The event have been awsome. To bad no SDA guy won the NES challenges. But the guy with long black hair that won the competition where kind of cool and I hope he could hang around here in da future. He finished every challenge except Metroid Expert and Mike tyson TKO in round 1. Me and Matrix tried that challenge but we could not get it done. Seriously, I think it was some lag in the controller or something. I could not beat Tyson at all. I use to be able to do it at my NES at home.
I can not belive they timed the Ninja gaiden speedrun competition with a fucking stop-watch that way they did I actually won an NES for the first competition. I pretty much perfected the first level. and I think Stanski pulled off his run faster then Liger. I was about half a second away from him. btw, Stanski. did you got your price?
Me and Enhasa had some Super mario kart racing. That was awsome! I guess he won a couple of GPs more then me but that was a lot of fun.
Me and Mike tried to do a Co op speedrun of both Sunset riders and Contra. thanks to chief Wigwam we looked like a couple of real loosers.
I watched Kareshi when he played trough ghost n goblins and played piano, that was cool.
Yesterday Mike gave us beers. you should have been there And overall. 4 awsome days. And it was a lot fun to met everyone IRL.
Also, thanks for those pics and videos! My Camera where brooked when I arrived. and I guess Tri hex will post a bunch of pics when he get home
The guy that won was Phillipe Landry, aka "Metal Dream" from the Minibosses message board on theshizz.org. He is an awesome guy from Canada. I'm trying to get him to do a whole speedrun because he's got some awesome skills. He placed third in last year's competition without having practiced before he got there. This time he practiced for a couple months.
1.Black haired dude - 110 p. 2.Brakedown - 99 p. 3.Uyama - 98 p. 4.Emtyeye - 86? p. 5.Frezy - 40 p. 6-7? Stanski ?? p. 8. Enhasa - 25 p.
10. Nitrodon (tied)
uhm. YEa. One of the highlights where definately seeing Andrew in person. He chocked everyone and pulled of a hole bunch of crazy glitches and I saw about 10+ walljumps. He pulled of the last castle wall jump pretty easy (looked like that).
Wow, really surprised that guy didn't beat Metroid Expert. Was that the one where you have fight Mother Brain with one e-tank?
I was a bit surprised over that too. but on the other hand it is not an easy challenge. but very doable. At least me, brakedown and Emptyeye did that one. Phillipe Landry sayed he should show up here at some point, so we will see about that
