well the nes and genesis challenges have been up for a little while, i assume the snes ones were only posted today though.

lol at the tetris attack challenge, i expect all of you to crush that one :|

i think i could beat that u.n. squadron challenge too tbh, i fought that final boss a lot awhile ago

Yeah I beat DRMBM on Hard when I was 10, so I doubt that one will prove much of a challenge either.

Yea a lot of those seem to have really exaggerated difficulty. There are a lot of "expert" and "unfair" challenges that are really quite easy.

LOL at the Actraiser 2 challenge, though. It doesn't mention difficulty, but I am hoping it is on Hard. It'll actually be rather easy though without any kind of time constraints. The only part that should ever even hit you is the big flying dragon. I'm available for help if anybody wants it. Smiley

Edit: Kirby's Adventure Ball powerup?! Did I make these challenges?

As I post every year whenever the challenges go live: remember that the difficulties are from the perspective of a "normal" gamer walking up to the booth and giving a challenge a try. Smiley

Besides, the difficulties mean less this year since all the points have been leveled to one per challenge regardless of difficulty. Hopefully that'll encourage people to hang out at the booth and to make the top 20 (points-wise) a little more competitive for spots 15-20. But there's still cool swag for beating the harder levels of challenges!

ActRaiser 2 is a Hard challenge, btw.

It's a tough game, but I think this is one of the easier challenges they could give for it, really. These bosses can be cheesed out pretty easily if you know how. If there is interest, I can post a video of how to beat the boss rush consistently without death, but I know some people like to do it on their own.

Ya, I agree with you. I have been working on a Low% run for some time now so I see this as easy stuffs. For anyone who wants to do the MMX2 ones and want help, I can provide strats if you would like

The Dynamite Headdy challenge would be pretty hard if you didn't know what attack King Dark Demon was about to use.

i don't think the difficulty level (in-game) of the tetris attack challenge is specified, so i hope it's very hard, and not just hard. in my honest opinion that shouldn't be an expert challenge though because the AI in that game (unlike later games) doesn't know how to chain off garbage drops; if a player is reasonably fast and can do more than x5 chains consistently then he shouldn't have any problem beating the challenge.

actually, a better challenge for tetris attack might've been to beat one of the bowser stages in stage clear mode. i always thought that was a little harder than any of the vs. com levels because of the really high speed.

On a less pedantic or elitist note, the challenges seem pretty rough for the games I'm not familiar with and easy for the ones I'm good at, with the exception of Crusader of Centy. I may not be going to the fest, but I think I'll give a go at that anyway, seems like a blast. I love that game ^_^
