I'd like to retract an earlier statement I made about speedrunning "not being fun anymore". In 2016, there has been a dramatic increase in what I like to call "longruns": ambitious speedruns that take 16+ hours, longer than most people are awake for an entire day. It's usually meant to be a 100% run of a 1990s or 2000's RPG, or in some rare cases, even an any% run of said games (such as Dragon Quest 7, Persona 4, Digimon World 2 or Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2) which require the runner to play the game uninterrupted for an entire day or even multiple days in some occasions. I admit, these can be somewhat entertaining and awe-inspiring runs to watch, even when they're loaded with filler. Some runners do them quite frequently. Runners like Cereth and Zer0skar can crank out one every week or two, and AzureFlame4 is planning on doing an All Medals run of Digimon World 1, as well as more any% runs of Digimon World 2. Werster has even done multiple rentals-only any% runs of Pokemon Stadium 2, which has some downright unfair battles towards the end as a ploy to sell Transfer Paks. And don't get me started on Highspirits and Neviutz.

So this is a place where anyone planning a "longrun" can go to share/read advice on how to prepare for one and weave it into an otherwise physically and socially healthy lifestyle. I actually wouldn't mind seeing more longruns, so long as they don't end up destroying or burning out anyone.
