Elite maybe. Or "Journy to Alpha Centauri", anyone remember that? Smiley
Looks like someone needs a hug!
James Pond 3- So many levels. So many boring levels.
A Tales of Symphonia 100% run would be extremely long, for a pro I would say around 40 hours at the very least.

James Pond? James Pond 3? I know you mean James Bond, but which one is #3? Last time I checked, they all had names.

Wow, why I'd never. My bad...

Yoshi's eggs are at my mercy!
xDDDDD

That was -by far- the highlight of my evening!!!
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Maybe Xenogears? Very long game, most of which is in cutscenes. Would've been much longer if they had actually completed it.

Of course, I don't think cutscenes should count. In terms of just gameplay.. hm. Couldn't say.
I love ME
Playing endless DDR until you get 99999999 (not sure exactly how many digets).

Something never anyone mentioned here:
X-Com: Terror from the Deep ... without ridiculous bugs of course.

I always had the feeling that the ingame time was realtime.
What already September? D'oh...

I heard some weirdo was doing a Tetris speed run. It's actually possible, I was like, "No way o_O," until I saw some crazy ass Tetris video somewhere.
Just call me the cynicism machine
If he is going for max points, that is viable.  It would only take like 15 minutes max, though.  Otherwise, there is no way to speedrun Tetris.  If he was competing for most lines completed... that would be intense.

ET is actually quite short.  You die in less than ten minutes if you don't win.

100% Wind Waker would suck.  It wouldn't be the longest, but going to every square, fishing up all the treasure, getting the maps, all the heart pieces, and all the pictures would take a very long time.

No kidding. Even with planning, you have to take about three hundred pictures and individually allow three days to pass for the figurine to be made of every single one. The mere thought just sickens me.

From "Only You Can Save Mankind"? You leave your computer on for three thousand years and eventually a white dot appears in the centre of the screen saying "Welcome to Alpha Centauri. Now go home"? HILARIOUS. Smiley

James Pond 3 was subtitled "Operation Starfish". It is indeed far, far too long.

Yep, that's the one. I'm glad someone remembered the reference. Cheesy

Yeah Gorash, X-Com: Terror from the Deep gets my vote too.  Finding that last alien wandering around in the ocean around his sunken submarine and you are chasing him holding dart guns...  I don't know of anything that could take longer or be more annoying.

Well actually... I stopped playing my current stage because I couldn't find that last alien in his base after more than twelve real time hours of searching... such a pain.  If a speed run was done of this game there would be nothing speedy about it except maybe how fast the player moved his mouse to click on something...
If I remember correctly the original Tetris did have some sort of end screen where you got fireworks and all that, not sure though.

100% Pokémon Stadium would also be extremely long and boring. To get all 151 Pokémon in the hall of fame and beat the elite four over and over and over 0_o.

100% anything will always get you high times if you define 100% in a stupid way.

Ever tried diablo 2 "100%"? Not just level 99 (in the latest patch: a couple of weeks nonstop), but try to find any item in the game at least once. A couple of years, unless you start counting magics and rares. Then it'd be a team-run spanning several generations.
100% as in "all quests and waypoints" will be faster though.

I'd say: compare pure speed runs only. That makes more sense.

That Arika video was mad crazy  Shocked Is it possible for me to download that game anywhere? I surfed the English site and I got the impression it was an arcade game or something.
Namco X Capcom is suprising a very long game even though you can skip the cut scenes. I think that would take around 20 hours.

The only legit 99 character I've heard of in Single Player was a Wind Druid.  You need 3000 Baal runs to go from level 98 to level 99 (and for each death 300 more) as I recall.  He was getting it done in five minutes for each run.  Even at SIX HOURS per day it would take you almost a month and a half of playing.  To gain that one level.  In 3000 Baal runs you'll also see a good share of set/unique items, but not nearly enough.

Another player reached the point where he only needed six (I think) more items to have collected all sets and uniques in Hardcore Single Player.  He started at the beginning of the 1.10 patch (sep. 2003?  I started playing in 2004) and reached that point in June or something like that.  Putting the two quests together...ugh.

But you could try to justify 100% TWW as getting all pictures, because the game "rewards" you (with another figurine) if you complete it.  And, incidentally, in later versions of the game only one day must pass for the figurine to be made.

Find any item in the game... pile of 1 gold, 2 gold, 3 gold... 5432 gold, 5433 gold... anybody know max pile of gold with maxed out gold find?  Tongue

The gold alone would take generations (unless you counted someone dropping it and picking it back up).

i know with just a 'Wealth' armor and The Blade of Ali Baba, 27k gold drops are easily possible (Travincal Council).  If you maxed Gold Find I think that you may be able to get to 100k

Anyone consider an all quest run of D2?
