What would be the longest game in the history of all games to speedrun/complete? A Square RPG? Pacman? DK64? Tetris? (I don't know if that has infinite levels...if it does, it should be disqualified)

Not going to school today
It's probably some recent game that has unavoidable, annoying cut scenes, like Final Fantasy X.

Myst 2: Riven

if someone finds a longer game, I'll counter with "Myst 2 on a slow loading computer". Tongue

(no, I never cared to find out how much stuff can be skipped on that game. I just know it was insanely long when I played it.)

Someone did a speedrun of DK64. I forgot the time, but it was under 12 hours for sure, so it's not DK64. I'd say it would have to be Legend of Dragoon. I've played that game forever and still haven't beat it. That's probably because I suck at it though :'(.
I recently played Chrono Cross, and that was quite lengthy.
I can probably be beaten mighty quick when it's all planned out.

DK64 was a 100% completion, wasn't it? 100% completion of RPGs can go much longer that 13 hours..
Heroes of Might and Magic 3 (including the 2 expansions)

Eh? Eh?

The Myst games go MUCH faster when you know all of the puzzle solutions.  And even a speed run would be boring to watch.

Games with infinite levels could still be speed-ran if it involved reaching a point total.  That would normally be boring though, since in nearly all cases infinite levels=insane repetition.

Pac-Man has 255 levels, iirc (and I don't...).  The fastest completion was 3 1/2 hours or something.
Sleeping Terror
Most any MMORPG.
KratosJudgment
Tales of Symphonia probably.

ToS? Are you serious? that's not that long of a game.
I used to be athiest until I realized I was God.
WoW leveling to 60. I think it could be done in 72 hours with INSANE planning... i mean a pack w/ walock to summon you to each place, everyone has every group pulled and ready to kill when you get there, etc.

Everquest was done in 24 hours, but that was 50 times as explotable as WoW.

I only say WoW because I have more experience with it than other RPG's. I heard FFXI took much longer to level, but I don't know how explotable it would be.

Tiger Heli for NES. Time to speedrun: infinity, because you can't beat the game. Honestly! We put in the code for invincibility and let the game run for hours and hours. The graphics "reel" wraps around to the start.

Yes, I know all about the DK64 run by Wouter because Cyber and I verified it together...it was both painful and satisfying at the same time. It was like MST3K since we were both in ventrilo making fun of poor Wouter's numerous mishaps. But still, 13 hours of DK64 is just soul crushing.

And Dirty, the game should have an endpoint to count. =]
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Space Invaders on Gameboy is infinite... I made it to level 99 after probably 2 hours but then it just wraps back around to level 0. I was hoping for some sort of ending, silly me  Roll Eyes

if you're talking RPGs, it's dragon warrior 7. no doubt.

there are games that never end that would be impossible to speed run. for games with a finite ending, maybe something like gauntlet.
Just call me the cynicism machine
Ogre Battle 64, simply because things tend to go very slowly and there are infiniti-billion unskippable cutscenes and dialogs.
dinosaur from the past
I pretty sure the original Gauntlet is actually infinite.

Runescape, AHAHAHAHAHA! There's no way you could complete that game.

Getting all of the characters, then playing through 'Very Hard' on all single player games with all of them, and getting all of the trophies, and doing all events, and completing all mini-games?  (I think the trophies are all-inclusive though)

Yeah, that starts with five hours for mewtwo and doesn't get shorter.

MMO's are so unfair for this...they're designed to waste all of your time.  And they're damn good at it.  Plus, there's no way to win.  There's always more stuff to kill, more swag to get, more quests to do...

Very true, most MMORPG are constantly updated, and usually never-ending.

The ones for Dreamcast did! </pointless post>

Hmmm, that's a tough one. Maybe E.T., because nobody has ever completed it yet.

Heh, probably because no one wanted to complete it. It went down as one of the worst games in history.
ET is actually quite short.  You die in less than ten minutes if you don't win.

100% Wind Waker would suck.  It wouldn't be the longest, but going to every square, fishing up all the treasure, getting the maps, all the heart pieces, and all the pictures would take a very long time.
