Just recently on the Sony Playsation Event they revealed that you'll be able to live-stream your PS4 on the spot as well as save video clips and whatnot.  I think this will be great for the future of speed running, especially for those who can't afford a high-definition capture card or those who don't know how to set-up a live-stream themselves outside of the PS4.

Thoughts?

Too bad it's UStream. As Greenalink says, no FrankerZ train.
Technically you can already stream from your console with Black Ops 2. But yeah, hopefully they add Twitch support.
Well you can stream anything you want any time you want, so it'll be interesting.

The downside is that the share function only seems to do short clips, rather than full game speedruns, so you'll still need something to record speedruns.

True, but the idea of "Streaming" is now (supposedly) much easier than it ever has been now.  Granted if you know how to do it already, it might not be much, but for the others who still can't figure it out, this could be the system that will be able to make their "streaming" wishes come true.
HELLO!
This a prelude to going all HDCP all the time, shutting down most streaming methods?
Funny thing that, the Roxio device I have actually blocks the PS3's HDMI stream on it's main software, but I can still stream with it on XSplit.

I don't think the impact here is how hard or easy it is, but rather the fact that you can stream with just the console. You don't need to buy extra equipment and come up with a streaming setup now. That's pretty huge. If Microsoft/Nintendo follow, then streaming is about to explode.
Well, one thing that I'm not sure about is, can you stream older games using the cloud feature?  Because if you aren't able to do that, I feel that it won't be horribly useful for speedrunning (at least, not initially, until people start becoming familiar with games and speedrunning them), considering the games that are the most popular to speedrun are older games from the PS1 and PS2 era.

You also have to think of the quality of the streams that will shared, Let's say the don't give quite a good FAQ on how to stream, you will have a lot of people not knowing how to set proper bitrates, I expect to see quite a lot of low quality streams once this works. Or a lot of people not understanding why their internet cannot handle streaming.
