It was Faxanadu and no I totally missed that in the thread and the video. I'll download the updated one and try to match all the new ones to the schedule to make sure there's no other mixups. Then i guess make a torrent.
but on that note, ISPs need to give better upload speed. DL peaks at like 800 - 900 kB/s UL? maybe 120, but that's just a peak. 100 sustained
edit: Are people hoping on this just partial seeds or is there a problem connecting to me somehow? utorrent tells me there's 4 peers, none connected to me, and I've only uploaded 3MB.
I've joined in the seeding too. Might as well put my connection to work somehow. And the torrent matches my Faxanadu (which has Breakdown on the statID), so I'm at 100% from the get go.
During Essentia's Dr. Mario run (which was AWESOME, by the way), someone off camera was talking about a Metroid Marathon in March. Where can I find details about that?
I'm glad you enjoyed my Dr. Mario run! The Metroid marathon is being done by The Speed Gamers. You can get more details on their website: http://www.thespeedgamers.com/
Britt was talking about Ustream Producer on the TSG Vlog. It's a stand alone broadcasting client, which means you can cut browsers out of the equation. I downloaded it myself to try out at some point, this or the Pro edition would probably be worth looking into for the next marathon.
Yeah, installing QT Lite seems to have done it. Fuck if I was going to install Apple's version. Couple quick reactions:
1) You can't save a local copy of the recording without the pro version, which costs $199(!!!). This would be a huge issue for the commentary stream. 2) You can't finetune the bitrate settings, only use presets. Maybe another pro restriction. Probably not as big of a deal, but when I broadcast using FME I use 800 kbps h264 but only 320x240 and not being able to go a high bitrate without also upping the resolution isn't so nice. 3) Overall the app feels rushed and doesn't offer any features that strike me as being useful over FME, other than the picture-in-picture (which we were able to do anyway) and the screencasting. I think I'll stick with FME for now.
It feels a lot like a beta version rather than a full program. I tried it yesterday too, getting things to actually all work together was a bit of a headache. I also tried out the screencasting feature, it's nice for those that don't have anything, but it's even more resource intensive than Webcam Max already is. More code optimization and more options need to be put in, then it'll be a good alternative.
