Verification Files

http://v.speeddemosarchive.com/LittleBigAdventure-20161208/

Please refer to the Verification Guidelines before posting.

Please post your opinions about the run and be certain to conclude your post with a verdict (Accept/Reject). If you wish to remain anonymous, you can also send a pm with your reply to 'sdaverification' (please state clearly in that case which run you have verified). This is not a contest where the majority wins - Each verification will be judged on its content.
Hi fellow speedrunners. My run is due for the 27 and we're now the 29.

Also I don't know how SDA exactly works but I'm open to be a verifier for any LBA game as I know them a lot.

Thanks.
Hi! Sometimes verifications run late like this: we wouldn't like it to have to be the case, and we've advertised public verification in the past. I think a lot of people are scared of verifying a game they don't know, which is bad because if it's in public verification, that's all we have.

Likewise, if you'd like to help out later on, you're welcome to verify any run, not just LBA runs.

Personally I'd watch this but it happens to be a game I'm in the middle of playing... so spoilers.
Hello. I'm relatively new to the SDA website, but i was called here by FreemanQC to verify his run. I'm the second place runner of LBA 1, so i probably have enough knowledge about the speedrun itself. But like i said before im unfamiliar with how this website works, so any guidance would be great.

Hello amnesti and welcome.

If you want to participate in verifying, all you have to do is watch the run and give feedback about the quality of the run in this post.
The quality is basically (but not strictly) measured along these verification guidelines here: https://kb.speeddemosarchive.com/Verification_Guidelines

If you think the run fulfills these criteria, you just post your opinion here (doesn't have to be many words), usually followed by the word "Accept" as the overall verdict.
(if, of course, you have any questions, doubts, complaints, etc. about the quality or even suspect cheating, just bring that up and it will be discussed)

For examples you can just check any existing verification threads. Those will give you an idea.

A good run, and good A/V quality as well. Throughout the run there were some small mistakes. Some that were minor timelosses, and some of which didn't cost any time at all. I also noted a couple of freezes in the video itself, but they were minor and nothing that ruined the actual run itself. Overall I think the run is great, with a very good time to go with it. Accept.
Thanks everyone for getting this run veryfied. So what's the next step?

Thanks.
We need more than one verifier actually, for every run. Let's just wait until next Tuesday, and I'm sure ktwo will watch it once he gets back (he's the guy normally in charge of verifications).

Of course you can ask around for someone else if you wanna be sure it doesn't have to wait longer than that.
I'm new here, I'm not sure what is relevant or what isn't, so I'm gonna say everything that comes to mind.

freemanqc played on a french version of the game, the route he took for his run is to my knowledge near to the most optimized to this date (some skips are really difficult).

The video only contains the game video and audio, no commentary (he played on twitch but the stream failed at some point). The recording quality is good, except for one little freeze, I can't remember were it was.

The run is good, there's only some mistakes I listed here : https://forum.magicball.net/showthread.php?t=18048#5 . It is single segment and overall way better than the run currently uploaded on SDA.

Only problem is the "comment" found here : https://queue.speeddemosarchive.com/runstatus/1991/ it should be replaced by this one : https://www.dropbox.com/sh/4i6d8y32l9sq4st/AABYmdQw9dYFMYVL-49bo6MJa/NOTES.rtf?dl=0

French version: Note that I’m playing the french version as the game was originally made in french by french people. This is to me the official way to speedrun the game. I agree we could make this an official rule.

No commentary: From what I understand from the SDA guidelines it's not obligatory to make a commentary video. Still it's something I could provide later if I can get the time to do it. Would be great to make a commentary with other LBA speedrunners like Amnesti and Docpaisley.

Twitch stream: SDA doesn't require the run to be streamed according to their guidelines. But yes it happened, I was dropping frame on OBS as I was still experimenting 60 fps streaming that had worked so far at that bitrate setting.

Freeze: As written in the speedrunning notes: The freeze you see in the video at 30:24 is because I’m recording on an external hard drive which is slower than an internal hard drive. I’ve recorded the run with OBS and I’ve suffered from frame dropping at this place.

Comment : the comment don't have to be replaced it's only the submission comment. If you look on this screenshot (http://prntscr.com/dthve9) you'll see where the run comments are. Still I need to update them as I added some corrections as of today.

Thanks for your comments and verification Seipas Smiley
Different language versions are considered separate categories if it affects timing. Otherwise you can run whichever you like. (No you can't tell others to play in your language, c'mon, why did they translate it then?)

No there doesn't have to be any commentary, it's optional to provide an audio commentary track (which gets included in the same file) or a written commentary. Viewers appreciate it though.

Okay, now this has enough verifiers and I can post the verdict tomorrow. Great!

Thanks for your reply! I would say that the LBA runners actually play in whatever language they prefer as no one have showed it changed something to the time. There's the same amount of dialogs and no matter which language you're playing it takes the same time to skip them. So I don't think we should do more categories for LBA. We're like 5-6 runners on the globe hehe.
Decision posted.
Thanks guys it's really appreciated. Now when will the website updated?
That usually takes something in the order of 6 months (sadly). We're going to try to push lots of runs out this spring though.

Thanks for submitting!
Alright thanks!
I'm trying to finish this game now so I can watch the run etc. and I noticed that if you die in the area on Pickett Island in the sewers leading to the Dino-Fly where that crab patrols a water-filled area so that you're right next to the crab, you may end up riding the crab around. If you try to jump off into the water looks like you die instantly to the water so I'm assuming the logic just checks for whether or not you're proto-packing (and alive) and thus it doesn't really work, but in case it hadn't been noticed... This game has no wiki on SDA at least.
