Currently offering component video out for the SNES for $55 installed + shipping.  Works on all model SNES's.  I've only got 5 of my boards completed and thus only offering up 5 installs on a first come first serve basis.  I install the circuit in the SNES and video out is done through RCA jacks installed on the back:

NOTE: YOUR TV/CAPTURE DEVICE MUST SUPPORT A 240P VIDEO SIGNAL OTHERWISE YOU WONT HAVE ANY PICTURE

You do lose RGB output capability with this mod, as that is what is used to encode to Component.  I may revise the circuit and be able to keep both, but that's for another day.  But if you're like me and live in the United States, losing RGB out isn't a big deal because there's such a small percentage of devices that support it.  S-VIDEO/COMPOSITE/RF are unaffected and work as normal.

Another thing to keep in mind is I don't have green or blue rca jacks.  I can't justify spending $2-$3 per rca jack for some stupid gold plated RCA jack that has green and blue plastic, you can't find them in any other form for some odd reason.  What I currently do is use a red rca jack, and 2 white rca jacks and color them blue and green.  You can see how it looks in my first picture of my SNES that has them installed, you can't really tell the difference.  If this bothers you, then this isn't for you.  And no, I won't install it via the AV Multi out, it's too much of a pain to order VGA cables, cut them out and create a custom cable and I'd have to charge more.

As I said before,  I only have 5 available at this time, more will come most likely in January when I have more time to build them.  I'll start taking the orders after Dec. 5th, by then my finals will be over and I can install these.

I almost always finish installs the same day they arrive at my door.  Once again, this is a first come, first serve and if you'd like this to be done, simply reply that you're interested and after the 5th, I'll take the order.

I am interested in this for my SNS-101. I'm not at home right now but I'll PM you details when I get back on Tuesday (and also to make sure I have the damn thing).

No problem, reserved for you sir.  I have finals next week, so can't do anything but study until around Thursday.
I may be interested in this.  Are you going to be at AGDQ?  I'll be there with my SNES so depending on how fast you could install the mod it could be done there.
Ciento Dos Huevos
No, I won't be attending AGDQ unfortunately.
Hmm.  I'm not sure my receiver will do 240p anyway.  I have an Onkyo TX-NR1010 and it lists 480i over component as an input resolution, but not 240p.  I guess I'll have to write Onkyo.

There was a way to test... I don't recall how though...something about putting composite video into Y (green/luma) on the component of the device you want to see.  If you get a picture, it supports 240P....

Don't quote me on that, I may have it wrong.

EDIT:

Just tried this, seems to work when I used my NES composite and plugged into component Y (green) on both my tvs.  Got a b/w picture.
Crawlathon WR, get down on my level.
I'll reserve one please!

Alright 2/5 spoken for.
Well, I can play PS1 games on my PS2 via component.  According to various random webpages, that means my receiver supports 240p.

So put me down for one of these.

Quick question on the video output: is the signal from component ~30 Hz or ~60 Hz? I'm not sure at which stage things are connected and if the interlacing has happened yet.

Component out with the snes is 60hz progressive.  Same with the genesis (which this also works for, but not offering it yet).

I'm gonna say interlaced is 30hz...but dont quote me on that.  Only because I don't remember if there was any quirky format that used 60hz interlaced.
DS Dictator
I would love one of these but two things are holding me back at the moment:

1) I bought a good RGB SCART cable for my US-SNES a few months ago.... that same SCART cable works well on my PAL Gamecube so it's not fully wasted.
2) Shipping from the UK to US and back isn't going to be cheap.

My HD/Component setup means I should be able to play & record & read chat on livestream at the same time. That's one good thing I guess, my room is awkward for SD console setup as it's not right next to my livestream station and it doesn't have room for a small SD CRT TV.

So don't officially count this as a YES from me yet. I'll wait until after Xmas.
Crawlathon WR, get down on my level.
BTW, I would also be extremely interested (perhaps even moreso than the SNES) for a Genesis version, especially since s-video out is such a challenge for it.

something I don't like about it it's that you talk about it like if it was a business.
"LIMITED, LIMITED, buy it or it will be too late." :V
that's my impression.
HELLO!
Well it *is* a business. The skills, tools, and parts cost money.  It should be a business and the community should reward good service.

Pasky does in fact do modding as a side-business and many people from SDA have been extremely satisfied with the results. This is an unusual mod so it makes sense that it would get a little different attention to gauge future interest.

How exactly would you have liked me to word it?  I only have a small amount available at the moment and I'm offering people a chance to reserve them before I begin work.  Sorry, but your statement just doesn't make any sense to me.  Also, if you have nothing constructive to offer, I'd ask that you kindly just not say anything at all.

We might be able to work something out, I'm not sure, I'll let you know post Thursday.
