I just saw it, it's amazing, I was working on it but didn't found anything, it will be a huge timesaver. Really huge.

EDIT : After the loading zone to the wasteland, we lost the boost, It's a bit disappointing.
Still a time saver, something like 2 min I think overall.

I got a 1:02:19.3 with an pretty strong gameplay ( I was on a 58 min pace) and the worst inferno ever : http://www.twitch.tv/rydou/c/4858470
And after that, 1:01:05.9 with an horrible gameplay, a "just bad" inferno, and a internet's cutoff in the middle, I don't even want to link it, but it's still on my channel.

The run is a bit laggy sometimes, sorry for that, and don't mind the Badlands and Nightfall split, I always forgot about splitting badlands, so it get messed up.
And for those who wonder, my sum of best segment are 57:35.0 for the moment, so the sub 60 will come soon.

There is still one minute to win by not dying, the rest is about mistake, there is still some lag during the run, but it should be fine to look at it.

EDIT2 : Ok so I use a old version of the game, some skips have been patched, the record doesn't worth much :p

When did they patch it? Is 1.0 different from 1.2? Man I cant check it atm. What exactly did they fix?

The last version I played as was the 1.2, which was the Mac(?) Launch Version (playing on windows though) and I'm pretty sure Ratking and OD use the same one.

Because we should probably agree on a version soon. And I'd rather use the most broken one as the game is, generally, very stable anyways.
What do you guys think? Is everybody on board for getting an older version of the game? I can try and see if I can secure an installer for that next week once Im home.
I don't mind using the newest version, for the moment, most of the big skip are still here, so it's not a big loss.
But if the log was patched in a futur version, it would be an other story.

And the current version is 1.3
Not sure when they patched it, but the main difference we've found between the two is the implementation of invisible walls in the newer version. In two places (Cliffs and Ancients), there are pretty good skips that were made impossible by the patching.

Don't really mind playing on a different version, though I wouldn't know how to get it.

That's why I think it's easier for everyone to play on the last version. Until a huge patch come and put invisible wall everywhere.
Version 1.3 seems fine to run for now. I read through the community steam forums for the game and it seems like he's working on some big patches that could change a lot of things for us.

Here's something he wrote there about performance updates he's working on:
"1. Upgrade the game to the Unity 4 engine.
2. Break up the larger terrains so the game isn't rendering out-of-site polygons.
Both of these are in process as I speak, though will be a while before they're ready for prime time. The good news is that these updates combined will make for big performance improvements, but without reducing any visual effects in any way."


I have no idea what that will do to the speedrun. If it makes it less fast we might have to find a way to keep 1.3



Also, figured I should post this here. I got a 59:47 run yesterday on the 1.3 version.

I'll check if I can secure a decent installer + working version of either of the first 3 versions (1.0 / 1.2 / 1.3) for people to use in case the upcoming update wrecks stuff. All of our skips have been very solid so far and it would be a shame to lose them. Let's run 1.3 until then Wink

I lost 1:30 on inferno, but it's a good run overall ( Sub 5 on The Town, and almost sub 15 on Chasm).
Pretty happy with it, but still a lot of work to do.
Here's something that isn't necessarily useful, but it's interesting. There's an invisible wall at the end of Inferno that's slightly slanted, which means you can logbook jump up it.
I haven't been able to get very far up it though cause it's really hard.



If you start jumping from on top of the green wall with the big door you can start off a lot higher than I do there by the way.
I would be interested to know whether the invisible walls go up forever or if it's possible to get over them. If anyone is good at logbook jumping feel free to try getting up that wall lol
Everytime you die, you start back at the beginning of inferno, it's pretty annoying
But I get to climb pretty high, without getting on it :

I get mixed feeling about that video. This is annoying, and sometimes amusingly stupid.
Still, he clipped through the ground on tower station at 23:25, I wonder if it could be possible to make something of that in other places.

I found a little bug, I did it by jumping at the exact same time a roots killed me.
I was still able to move, the screen became black after 3-4s ( so the deatch screen still occured), and I get teleported back to the checkpoint.

And when I get back, I found that :
The root's animation was still on, and the killing's trigger off.

I wasn't able to reproduce it, and not sure if it could be useful at all.
