Heh, amateurs...
Considering picking up this game, great work so far
Thanks, I got a 41:04... And now that I'm so close to it, I really want a 39:XX. I don't know if I can save over a minute though. IIRC my 5th circuit was really bad, so maybe it's possible with good RNG.
I... think this game hates me....

Deploying surprise in five, four...
how does this even happen? also any progress yet?

I think an NPC took the brick but was immediately hit with a projectile, so they dropped it right where they picked it up. When you drop a white brick, after a certain amount of time it teleports back to its home position. And that just happened as I was driving through Tongue I just took it as a sign that I needed to quit for the day haha.

I did a 41:24 run today while counting up the time lost from every mistake I made, and I counted about 1:30-1:40 of possible improvements. Which means sub 40 is possible with current strats (even as low as 39:45). So 39:XX will probably be my goal before I submit a SS run. It'll be hard but I think I can do it.

Then again, after reading over this thread, I've been overestimating my goals by a lot. Just a few posts ago I said I wanted sub-42 and now I'm thinking about beating that by 2 minutes. Maybe it's possible to go even lower, who knows.

EDIT: New record, 40:43. Getting there, but sub 40 is going to be REALLY hard.

Nice, didnt knew someone else was also running this. I've also been busy speedrunning this game and have a time of 43:36, still a shitload to improve on like the turns of the glitched courses.

I do have one question, when do you start the timer and end it?
Because I've been starting it at the click of ok at racer select and ending it at the finish line on the RR circuit and your start/finish seems a little different.
Sometimes when you rush into a wall and use the teleport/warp thing it take you way further than it's supposed to be. I know it's possible I was doing it on my ps1, the games seems to place you closer to the wall. Let's say you travel 100 meters if you warp in the middle of the road, if there's a angle on the right, bump into it but warp juste before, you'll travel a good 150 meters. I'll try to make a picture because I'm not good enough in english to explain it properly ::

Btw because of you I found the Ost and now my girlfriend hate me ~

I've been starting the timer right after the countdown of the first race (when it says "GO!") because that's when you first gain control of the character, and ending at the finish line of the RR circuit like you.

I didn't know someone else was running this either, haha. I'm glad you are though.

By the way my current record is now 40:25. I've been getting a little more consistent, so sub 40 doesn't seem too crazy anymore, but it's still difficult. It sucks when I can get a track I usually have trouble with like Royal Knight race perfectly, only for the NPC's to decide to steal all the white bricks two races later. I shall keep trying though.

Yea, warps are weird. If you could explain more though, that'd be great Shocked this sounds interesting. Although it's possible that the version difference might invalidate this, since the PS version came out in 1999 and I'm playing the 2001 PC version.
I was bored and considered running an arbitrary category, and instead I beat Rocket Racer without using green power ups.

Would anyone be crazy enough to do a greenless% run? Tongue
I'm gonna bump this again. I still haven't reached my SS goal because I took a super long break from this game, but I'm gonna try to get back into it. Here's my current PB/WR:

I'm going to keep attempting for sub 40 when I have time, but this time I'm going to stream it because that's what all the cool kids are doing these days. My twitch channel is here if anyone's interested in watching: http://www.twitch.tv/RbdJellyfish. I might even do some runs tonight, not sure.
Cool runs, man! I remember playing this game as a kid. Keep up the good work, SDA needs more racing game runs.
So, a little more than a year after mentioning sub-40, I finally managed to get it.

Finally gonna submit a SS run.
