Hmm well when you compare to Pika's route it's different.
When he was facing the 4 statues with cannonballs, he wasn't in Ocarina clipping mode because you can't create clones during that mode but I've found a way to defeat them whilst in clipping mode seems effective for either runs really.
I was going to collect the key from the mini maze like puzzle where you got to guide the 4 Links carefully whilst avoiding the floor trap and in clipping mode when you go to the left of the main entrance you get a another key there too. *
* + You can skip a darknut fight around that area - The only way to continue is to save warp so before getting the first key exit and re-enter the castle as the save/continue point.
The last 2 keys I'm not sure at the moment (which order, room, etc). Also when Pika showed how to get through a door the other way round (the new use of the Ocarina glitch) I managed to get through there without bombs so remote bombs doesn't matter there.
I tried it and if you are really lucky with the Darknut fights you can get under 10 minutes to the 1st Vatti Battle. I reccomend 12 minutes if you are unlucky with the Darknuts.
A 100% route would require a lot of Kinstone drop manipulation. White Picolyte would be very useful for this, I feel. There is also the problem of the 130 figurines needed for a piece of heart. In theory this could be done with 130 shells all at once, but that would be extremely difficult. The more segments you could split this into, the better. Green Picolyte could make this easier, but there are plenty of ways to collect many shells cheaply.
I assume the 3 Joy butterflies would be needed as well, even though they do not appear on your quest screens.
I don't think all kinstone fusions would be required, just the ones with important quest items. But the shells and figurines would be hell. If we saved after getting each figurine so we can use just 1 shell, then we would have that 1/2 second penalty (130/2 = 65 seconds) and the 4-5 seconds it takes to go back to the bottom of the tree and pull the lever again. Its just a bad idea.
Samoht, do you have a gameboy player? Will you be doing this run?
*afraid that ZFGs gonna kill me* ...of course i have a gba player, but give me my time. if you want to do the run instead of me, thats fine. im not holding you back in any way. also the 100% thing was a joke.
EDIT: Does anyone know how to upload vob movies (that were turned into mpeg) on youtube (and without using an expensive program or unregistered avs converter)? i tried converting the mpeg into a smaller files and breaking the movie apart by importing it to windows movie maker, but for some reason it wont accept my mpeg files that were converted from .vob
i think i found 2 new minish cap glitches. i didnt upload them on youtube because i didnt know if they were old or not. if they are, please tell me:
Glitch 1: You need the hidden skill that lets you break jars for this. First, activate ocarina glitch. then, if there are jars around, strike them with your sword. they will remain the same. then, if you play the ocarina again, the jars will automatically break (since playing ocarina again cancels the glitch).
Glitch 2: I forgot exactly how to do this, but in the barrel in deepwood shrine, if you are a perfect distance from the web while sucking it into the gust jar, the "you solved a puzzle" music will play even though you didnt break the web. you can also fall through it.
also, i finished segment 1 and 2 of my run :D! However, the more i play minish cap the worse i get at oot :-/
Alright, I've finished the run up to segment 8 (not that anyone would really care). My route is a little different from ZFG's. Here's what I have:
Seg. 1 -intro -20R from chest -save
Seg. 2 -follow Zelda -go to castle -cutscene -other cutscene -exit courtyard -take shortcut on the right -go to Minish Woods -save
Seg. 3 -save Ezlo -become Minish -go to village -talk to the Festari -save
Seg. 4 -take a right -enter barrel -get jabbernut -talk to sage -talk to Festari again -go to DW shrine -save
Seg. 5 -play up to boss key -save
Seg. 6 -suck in web to left -beat boss -go back to village -talk to Festari -go to woods -get bombs -go to Eastern Hills -save
Seg. 7 -go to SHF and blow up warp stone -go to town -Kinstone fusion -learn spin attack -go to Trilby Highlands -get bottle -go to Mt. Crenel -get bottled water -get 20R from vine -save
Seg. 8 -get another 20R from same place -set bombs to B -save
Well, that's about it. The run is looking pretty good right now, I plan to finish it around late summer time. I'm aiming for around sub 2:25. Hope you like it when it comes out! Oh, and feel free to do another run, anyone else.
It's cool now that the Ocarina glitch is allowed. So it's nearly possible to clear The Temple of Droplets in under 15 minutes. Keep watching some of my speed run videos to get the route (saving is recomended in the Fortress of the Winds (3rd Temple).
Awright, I finished up to segment 12! (end of 12 is when I go in and out of castor wilds swamp water + save). Lemme just compare my CoF run to Greenalink's...
EDIT: The first part of my run is an unfair comparison since i had to gather some extra rupees. The second part (up to boss door) was about 6 seconds faster than greenalink's. my boss battle was about 3 seconds slower than his. Oh, and ZFG, can you explain to me a little better how you can skip most of the room in PoW by jumping down? I don't really get it.

Don't feel bad because my runs were fully focused on the dungeons and nothing else. Collecting the rupees seems vital I think from what you need to buy to complete the game. 3 seconds slower on the boss battle is still impressive seriously. Is PoW Palace of the Winds?
I thought I saw a recent post asking about the SS category and if anyone was thinking of improving it. The post is not here now (if it ever was), but lately I have been thinking SSing this game would be a fun challenge. TSA's time was 2:45. How low can this number get with the new tricks? Is 2:30 doable? I am in no means ready for routes or anything. I need to relearn this game again, then I can start thinking about doing it quicker...
I must say the thought of not spending half my waking hours running a game is nice. Heck I could even restart a run in the same day!
