THE GAME!!
I've decided I might do a speedrun of Klonoa: Door to Phantomile for the PS. It's a short but great game and could probably be done in a single segment. I own the PAL version so chances are, it might be a bit slower than the NTSC version. Since nobody else had made a run for this game, I might as well do it myself.

I need to practise enough so I can't die. I can survive from Visions 1.1-4.2 without dying. I've also survived the Final Boss and many other bosses without dying. I think I also survived Vision 6.1 once as well. I won't do a 100% speedrun since I can't do the Extra Vision fast enough. Besides, I do die quite a lot in that level. So i'll run through every other level in the game.

By the way, I timed myself running through the first two visions in the game. I ended up running through those two levels in around 4 minutes.

Now time for some more practice! Cheesy

I'm a huge fan of the Klonoa series, but was always under the impression that they are just too easy to be impressive while speedran. I guess the first game is a tad harder than the second.

Single-segment is definitely the way to go, this game needs more challenge. Smiley

Indeed. If anyone can recall the n00b I was in August 2005 with this topic.

That was when I was attempting to speedrun 4 games at once, and rush all 4 of them to submit them ASAP. Then the 2 Crash Bandicoot ones became rejected, and I decided to "indefinitely postpone" Klonoa until I felt I was better.

I later realized that it is indeed too easy, and ultimately too boring for a full game playthrough. 100% IL table would probably be the best route.

Anyway, on topic, I haven't played any Klonoa other than the one I was attempting to do, but I am curious about how much harder the earlier ones are.
THE GAME!!
Yes I know Door to Phantomile is terribly easy, but because of this I'd like to try a speedrun. I ain't too good at getting through games without dying, but I could probbaly do it with Klonoa since I'm practicing heaps. Yeah, I have never completed any of the other games in the series but the first Klonoa game is quite easy. Nevertheless, the game is wonderful and addictive!

UPDATE!!

I can now manage to beat Part 5 (5.1, 5.2 and Joka) without dying. Now to practice Part 6. Once I can beat the game without dying, I will try and practice to get through as quick as I can. Also once I can work out how to use the PS2 with the DVD recorder, I can record the speedrun.

Thanks!

UPDATE!! #2

I can beat 6.1, 6.2, Ghadius and Nahatomb without death. I may be able to get through the game without a death, but I still don't think i'm ready. Why?

1. I still need to test out whether the DVD Recorder works with the PS2 yet.
2. I need to try and beat it as fast as I can.
3. I also need to make sure that I don't die during the speedrun. So therefore I'll practice some speedruns. I will most likely make the run a single segment since the game isn't that long.

Thanks!

Update #3

Yes, the DVD Recorder works with the PS2. All I need to do now is figure out how I can put recorded stuff onto the computer.

THE GAME!!
[UPDATE]: It's been a while but I have been recording the run. I will make it segmented because I find SS too hard. I've recorded the first two segments. Here's my plan.....

SEGMENT 1
Vision 1.1, 1.1 and 2.1

SEGMENT 2
Vision 2.2 and 3.1

SEGMENT 3
Vision 3.2

SEGMENT 4
Vision 4.1, 4.2 and 5.1

SEGMENT 5
Vision 5.2

SEGMENT 6
Vision 6.1 and 6.2

SEGMENT 7
Final Vision, Ending Cutscene and Credits

I might change the segments but this is my current plan. Thanks for reading...

I'm still interested, don't worry. Smiley

Cool. I've recorded Five Segments and I've made it eight segments. I've been on holiday so I haven't had time to do so. Hopefully it will be finished by next week.

Speedwalks are lame. Run it!
Klonoa games are great. I hope you start this again soon because I'd enjoy watching this.
THE GAME!!
Great to know you're interested! Smiley
I would never imagine that...
They are so few person interested in this run ?

...

Well don't worry, I'm with you too and as soon you finish this run, you can count on me : I'll download it.

Speedrunning Klonoa shouldn't be so hard but boss fights have to be perfect. I think this will be the main reason for doing a segmented run.
THE GAME!!
Yeah, you're pretty much right...It is pretty stressful trying to perfect bosses, but the rest isn't too hard.
THE GAME!!
Segment 6 Recorded. The project is still pretty much Halted but I recorded the sixth segment just to get it over and done with. Two segments to go!

Zoom!
Well, I've just purchased it off eBay (long overdue; I wanted to get it at launch but managed to forget getting it for 9 years...) so I'll be interested in watching it too.
THE GAME!!
That's too bad... Sad

At least you have it now! Enjoy! Klonoa's pretty good, and Tombi! fans are sure to like it. Smiley
I doubt there's much I can help you on. Do you have any parts of the run on YouTube?
THE GAME!!
I did do some test runs (level speedruns) ages ago with my video camera. If you look on my user page (ShadowLaguna) and go back several pages then you may find them. And because it's a speedrun, it won't spoil any story for you. They ain't the best and will probably be loads better after i've DVD recorded all the segments. Only two to go. Smiley
THE GAME!!
Well, I've decided to do Single Segment again (yes i'm still running this). Reason why I chose Segmented in the first palce was simply because the DVD recorder affected the gameplay and it made me keep dying so I've decided to wait till I get a capture card to run this along with Tombi! 2. So yeah, it's Single Segment again!
THE GAME!!
Good news everyone (yes I like Futurama)!!!! My Uncle and Aunty bought me a capture card for Christmas. And once I have that up and running, I will be able to record my Klonoa speedrun!! I am very excited!!
THE GAME!!
I apologise for all these delays. I really am sorry. But it will be all god once I got sound working. Yeah, I haven't seen my Uncle and Aunty since they helped me work the picture of the card. Once the sound works, it's all go. Smiley

But expect the run to be up sometime this year. Cheesy
