I am interested in running KH2FM and wanted to know if there was a reason why runners like bl00dybizkit and tehrizzle ran the Japanese version for the ps2. Kingdom Hearts 2.5 Remix was released for the ps3 in america and includes an English version of KH2FM making it much easier to obtain and play for English runners. From what I have read, the English version is identical to the Japanese one. The only problem I could see would be that the ps3 uses blue-ray disks which read faster than the cds of the ps2, potentially reducing load times. Is there a reason that FM is played instead of 2.5 Remix?
Thread title:
You can never run enough games
2.5 Actually loads a lot slower than 2FM. iirc it's around 50 minutes over the course of an Any% run. Apart from that the games are identical.

2.5 has slower loading times (about 40 minutes over the course of an Any% run, along with drive forms loading slower and sometimes needing pause buffering to get certain battle strats to work) and some glitches like random lag spikes at the start of boss battles and RC's that fail to trigger (most notably Reversal during the Final Xemnas battle).

It's too bad that 2.5 is overall a weaker version of the game for speedrunning; but since it's KH2FM that can be played on a standard console without modding or having to learn menus in a foreign language, I definitely see it getting a competitive speedrunning scene.
Wow! The reaction command thing seems like a huge bug to be ignored like that especially if it affects anything super time sensitive like the slide-dash on Mushroom I. I am definitely interested in running it still though, at least until I can get my hands on KH2FM. Should I start something like that in the casual speedruns board or is there a way to make 2.5 an official SDA approved game?

SDA accepts run submissions of any commercially released game, as long as the recording follows the guidelines at https://kb.speeddemosarchive.com/Recording (post a sample video to https://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/board/tech_support.html if you need any help), and the run's gameplay quality passes community verification.

I know it's maybe not the right thread to type this in, but can anyone help me to find an official video or guide of kh2fm beginnder mode (the hd verison since i don't have the ps2 version)?
I searched it all through the web but couldn't find anything. I only could find one run of bloodybizkit on youtube which is kinda old and i would like to know wether there's a newer version of this run. Everybody seemd to run critical mode, which is insane Cheesy
You should look at theKH leaderboards:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ApU9VYuE3KcudC0xWjBqdlBhaUpEYk1oZlBEYUNTbGc#gid=12
In there are the best runs for each game in every category and a lot of them have links to the recordings. I suggest watching the PS2 version though since its shorter due to faster loading times, and watch the final battle seperately in the HD version cause of the bugs in it. Hf Wink
