I don't know if its the idea of someone else. If it does I would like to speak to that person and maybe share some ideas.

I really liked this game and thinking about making a speedrun from it...

But I don't know...one segment? or make segments for each target?...and I was thinking to use the hard difficulty...not the killer8 difficulty. The reason is simple; we can get more Vials (10) than Killer8 mode (5) and I could use them for the special abilty of Con Smith to go very fast. I could do it in easy difficulty (20) Vials, but it seems too boring and 20 Vials is too much..I think 10 will make a perfect limit.

So what people think? I would like to hear words from you.

Look at this thread. There's a link to a really nice killer8 run, it's probably useful to watch it, might give you some ideas. I'd like to see a run on Normal or Deadly, the strategies will be quite different. However, I don't think there are too many places where Con's ability is worth it.

Oh, and make a hopper7 run after you finished this. Smiley

Ahh yes I've been in this thread. The movies are not working.

I already had my strategy for the run, but some few things are vague.

Like for exemple, what are the good time to go to Harman's room for serum?

It's impossible to get a good amount of blood in the first 2 level. You don't kill any Heaven Smiles because its faster to dodge them when they are about to explode. Camellia Smiles arent giving much blood..they give Vials. There is only 2 or 3 Red/Blue Micro Smiles in the whole game and you can't depend on that.

I think the moment you get alot of blood is when you reach Encounter.

I explain:

You can't dodge Backside Smiles and Protectors because they do not leap like the Heaven Smiles...they just blow on contact. You have to kill those and you get alot of blood for doing so. But is it worth the time to change into Mask to fire ONCE with the nade launcher to kill Protectors? Is it better to just tank those and heal yourself? I don't know yet...

BUT, if you kill EVERY Protectors and Backsides, im pretty sure you can reach (or get close to) the max amount of serum in the 2 part of Encounter.

Encounter
pt1   1920   (48 upgrade points)
pt2   2120   (53 upgrade points)

That's over 100 serums...which you need 2 stop at Harman's room for the 1st part and 3 stop in the second part. But my guess is that you only need 3 stop to get 68 serum and get crit-lock.

Crit lock = faster than dodging Heaven Smiles...and good for the Laser Smile...(damn Lasers...ZAP)

So at the first two-three level, you go in Harman's room with the few amount of blood you have to, maybe, upgrade speed to turn the Backside Smiles faster (power, speed, target, crits are useless for the moment since you do not kill a single Heaven Smile) or you just ignore the serum until you reach Encounter.

My thoughts are kinda extreme...but correct me if im wrong to what I stated that will help me.

EDIT: Ok ill make a run on Hopper7...I didnt finish Killer8 mode yet..but im at the second part of encounter. Coyote Charge Shot against Ayame is win for the first battle  Wink

I've worked alot on the first chapter. I never saw the japanese run, but it looks like Shin didn't use or know about the dodging trick.

I havent even finished Angel yet, but I'm aiming for the 20 minute mark atleast (I think I was at 15 minutes before reaching the security gate).

I've been meaning to capture some videos as soon as I get around NTSC playback on my PAL VCRs (they can play NTSC tapes, but not NTSC recordings on PAL tapes). Strange that the footage either has wrong colours, comes out black and white with a line through the picture, or the colour is perfect but the picture never settles (it only ever settles about once every minute for less than a second)... The game speed feels the same in 50 mhz display, so I might just record it like that instead.

Here's the dodge trick (looks like you alread know this, Estryark, but I thought I'd post my thoughts on it anyway):
When a smile leaps at you press B while you're running upto each other. That's it.

Doing it back to back with multiple smiles can be hard because of timing. Only two personalities can do this: Dan and Con. Kevin would be perfect because his aim is perfect but he stops before actually doing his reversal move, which is enough time to get grabbed. The rest of the personalities are just too slow to evade the smiles in time.

It's worth noting that once a smile attacks, the game assumes you failed to kill it and got hit. This is true when you're pitted against a new smile in each chapter. Like the Speed Smile in the Angel chapter: if you dodge the smile, you still can't exit the room because the game assumes you're already dead so you can't access the door.

There's some smiles that just can't be dodged because they simply explode when you're close enough (usually the big ones like the Roller Smile).

I have lots more to say, but my thoughts are all over the place at the moment. Dodging makes the game alot harder but it's a helluva lot faster, and the junction placements can make things more complicated and more harder. When I actually finish the Angel chapter I'll write down my route.

I've forgotten to talk about using the reversal move to gain distance, but I'll talk about that tomorrow or something.

Then don't dodge it...I think about shooting him once anywhere on him to make him stunt and make him stand up, then aim the head where the weakspot is...I think its always on it's head

PS: sshplur, for your route (maybe you know)... It's faster to go back to the padlock door to go in the toilet after you get the odd engraving from the candles.

Of course he does. It's a No Upgrade / No Harman - run. On killer8 difficulty. He dodges the hell out of it.

And the route is pretty much the same on every difficulty, so just copy Shin's route.
Do you have the movie? the link doesnt work and I was wondering if you could post it somewhere
I deleted it after watching it, sorry. It took me a while to download it, but it will work eventually. It's worth it, just keep trying and resuming. Smiley

I just tried downloading it and it works fine. Maybe you have to right click -> save target as?
well right click / save as works  thank you
I watched the movie...and no he doesnt know the dodge trick. He just waits until a Smile leaps on his back. The dodge trick we are talking about is to press B when moving foward to make a 360 Roll to dodge the smile's explosion. Shin doesnt do that at all.
You watched the whole run within 21 minutes? Roll Eyes

okok ill watch the WHOLE thing but i got bored in his first movie...I did not see him roll dodging thou ;/

EDIT: Ok he does
Yeah, the Duplicator Smile fights are boring, but that's killer8. Invisible Heaven Smile weakpoints, red Duplicator weakpoints - you just can't do that faster. IIrc, he doesn't get hit even once as well, and those segments are really long. Take that into account before you start bashing the run. My favorite level is Sunset Part 2.
Yes it is boring but at least he could just guessed the weak spots, I mean shooting head, then both arms and the legs. Plus, he missed that Camellia kill near that duplicator which didnt really help.
Altair, you asked why Shin didn't shoot Handsome Gold's feet/legs in the other topic. What about Handsome Gold's feet/legs?
They are his weak point, which is probably why it takes him so long to defeat Gold.
Altair what do you want in the hopper7 run?...you just want to see the grasshoppers?
If I wanted to see the grasshoppers, I could turn on my GCN and play it myself. No. It's short, it's easy, it's a nice little addition you could send in along with the killer7 run. Enemies die in one hit, so you can take your time to optimize the execution. Smiley
Is it ok if I make a short intro if its going to be related to the game?
looks like only 2-3 people is interested in the whole project.... :-/

Nah, look at previous topics, those people are probably still interested, they just don't post here.

I don't think so, but check the rules and FAQs.

Have you started recording yet?
About the intro, I already finished it but I will re-read the rules to know if I can add it to the run.

I bought my Recorder yesterday and I need to have this cable to get rid of video lag before recording..and I will have it next week, Tuesday or Wednesday. It's only available online in almost all the stores in my region so I have to wait for the delivery... ;/

Well looks like I was wrong about that. It's faster to go the other way and use 1 Vial to speed in that huge white room where the pigeon is...
This was a mistery in the other killer7 thread...
Killing a Yellow/Black Micro Smile AWAKES ALL PERSONAS
more keys then pablo escobar
i sold this game too... but also i never seen this game as a speedrun game...i enjoyed the story alot though and the feeling...
