Please messages catastrophic4, the_roth, or me on Skype, Twitter, or whatever, get our attention somehow, and get confirmed, or risk not being included in the tournament. Thanks!
I now have Skype back! wooooo! Luckily it wasn't hacked, so no need to worry.
An opening stream will take place on Sunday afternoon/evening EST some time (time still TBA but after 2pm) on twitch.tv/puwexil, will have more details after the groups are drafted.
I replied to roth's twitch PM about the same time as Neerm made his post with me in there. Just looking for confirmation that the PM with my response was received.
Hi everyone, after watching some scheduling being discussed, the deadlines have been changed to Sunday nights instead of Saturday nights - now you will have all weekend if needed. For example, week 1 deadlines are now the 8th Nov instead of the 7th. Please let your groups know too
I'll check races and results on Monday mornings as a general rule.
If you have any other feedback to help improve the tournament please let me know, I will be more than happy to listen. Earlier is better than later as its more likely we can implement changes before results start to flow.
I have all Skype chats except my own muted but will respond if you use the keywords "admin" or "roth", thanks.
Each round will take around a week and a half to play, with the semi finals and grand final being played on the 16th January (time TBA). Good luck to all the players, and may Kefka be not very harsh to you.
The finals will be hosted at www.twitch.tv/rpglimitbreak on Sat January 16th starting around 11am - 12pm EST (time finalised after knowing the last semi finalist). It should be a thrilling conclusion to the tournament as there are a few places where RNG trolls players (cough Gau) and we've had some quite close finishes. Hope to see you all on Saturday!
As Roth stated above, the semi-final matches will be:
(1) CronoKirby vs (4) EiriasValar (3) oxydoreduction vs (18) Liin1
The semi-finals and finals will all be streamed on http://twitch.tv/rpglimitbreak on Saturday, January 16th. We'll start the festivities at 11:45 AM EST, so be sure to tune in! Thank you to everyone who has participated so far, and congratulations to those 4 who will be in the final!
Our FF6 Kefka is Harsh tournament has concluded. Every person who participated ended up losing at least one match, so, clearly Kefka is the true winner.
That being said, Congrats to Liin1 for winning the tournament!
The first semi-final, CronoKirby vs EiriasValar, ended up being the fastest race of the entire tournament. CronoKirby made his way into the finals with a time of 01:25:54 to EiriasValar's 01:26:27. These times were the 3rd and 7th fastest times in the entire tournament respectively.
The second semi-final saw Liin1 take a victory over oxydoreduction, 01:26:32 to 01:28:02. oxydoreduction had a lot of hard luck throughout the run, and just wasn't quite able to pull it back together.
The final was then CronoKirby vs Liin1. The interesting thing about this final is that both CronoKirby and Liin1 advanced from the same group (Fenrir), so they had raced each other earlier in the tournament. This was an absolutely amazing race, and I recommend anyone who's reading this that didn't watch it live to take the time to watch it. CronoKirby had some of the worst possible luck early on, but the game dished it out to Liin1 as well. The runners traded leads multiple times throughout, and were tied by the frame entering Serpent Trench with about 15 minutes left in the race. Liin1 ended up the luckier one and dodged two encounters, and that ended up being the difference, despite CronoKirby's best effort to make up time in the end. Liin1 took victory with a time of 01:26:18 to CronoKirby's 01:26:36.
Once again, we'd like to thank the 81 people that participated in this tourney and made it a success. The amount of support we've seen in the two tourneys that we've done now has been absolutely astounding, and I'm really happy that we've been able to draw this much interest. This group is going to take a bit of a break before we plan another tournament, and we're not sure what game will be on the plate next. However, if you're wanting to scratch that Final Fantasy tournament itch, you can join in on the FF1 PSP Any% Total Chaos Tournament being run by CronoKirby, Crrool, Rory, and Ausabe.
