Watching this side by side with the existing run and things are very dead even during the first two levels. It's the sewer level where the run starts to gain time with a brilliant wall clip that I haven't seen before.
Solid work with the canyon level, hardly spot any mistakes there. Another brilliant wall clip in the center and this run has the lead by far. A slight mistake in the last pipe crawling section that loses 2-3 seconds over the existing run but a beautiful Grant boost in the end more than enough makes up for it.

In short, sweet execution and lovely video quality (sorry Adrian, VHS just hasn't aged well) makes this an easy accept from me. Oh who am I kidding? VHS was always terrible quality Cheesy

It was well done and much faster than the current run on the site.

ACCEPT

Quote from InsipidMuckyWater:
Definite Accept.

Well, it's certainly nice having to think so little about an "Accept," such as this.  The runner's execution was virtually flawless, aside from one obvious screwup at the very end that wasted a couple seconds.

Compared to the original run: The first and second levels were practically identical.

The third level featured a couple variances.  The first is that the runner chose to stay on the upmost section of the level for as long as possible (perhaps to further utilize that long jump the runner favors so much), but I don't really see how this pays off in any way.  In fact, I think my old run gains a half to a full second back during this stretch.  Perhaps that's due merely to execution.  Not sure.  Then, the second variance is of course that amazing wall clip.  MAN are those useful in this run. Great job.  How do they even work?  It appears that you need to long jump toward a wall of a certain thickness while alternating the direction you are facing?

Btw, this guy stole my move.  I'm not so sure how I feel about watching others kick Grant at the end of every level.  Grant never used to let anyone but me do that.  I feel so dirty now.

Fourth level was pretty even, but the runner pulls slightly further ahead due to fewer errors.  Also, he/she used the long jump a couple of extra times where it paid off.

The final level is mostly the same aside from another wall clip, one which is even greater than the first, and from bouncing off Grant's head to reach the far stone in essentially one jump.  Again, though, the runner goofed by jumping down out of the ceiling ducts, resulting in having to kill the dilophosaur and climb back up.  Remember, there's no need to do anything here aside from run forward once you are up in the ducts.  The Raptor's ledge climb will do the rest.

------
Again, easy accept.  Though, this should be a new category: Large skip glitches ...  JUST KIDDING

No continuity issues.  A/V was fine, but I almost thought there was a capture problem at first from how bright and colorful it was.  Now I know how much my VHS capture sucked the life and soul out of my original speedrun.

Oh well, another of my shaky cam runs down.  Well done, runner!

Decision: Accept

yes, but it works on nearly every walls of the game.
I've tested for like 1-2 hours to wall clip every single wall of the game to see if there were any solutions to gain more time, even the useless walls.
But I finally only use 2 wall clips.
in stage 4, it's possible to use a wall clip at the end instead of jumping.
the problem is that you have to kill the 2 guards or to jump over them or something, but this is like frame perfect and looks so random.
in the TAS, that's the method it is used, but it's too hard for a normal speedrun, at least for me.

that's faster to jump over the hole, because the raptor don't have to climb back up.
I generally succeed 2/3, but I was unlucky here. :V

it's like 2 seconds faster than the lower path. I've tested the 2 paths and tried different methods.

maybe you should look at the 2 TASes, I was my best source of inspiration for my run.

No, it's definitely not faster.  At least, not in the run that you submitted.  Maybe it's normally faster when you did this on other occasions, but my run is like dead even with your submitted run for this particular part, if not slightly faster even.  You can time it to check for yourself.

EDIT:  Just timed it to save you the trouble.  It's almost exactly 7 seconds for each.

Lol, and maybe YOU should check the dates that those runs were posted compared to when my run was posted.  (I'll save you the research, my run came many years before either of those did)    Even if you were only watching the TAS runs during your research, those guys were copying me, so the transitive property of copycatting says you were thereby copying me.    hehe  Wink

It is because I failed a jump and had to make an extra jump.
If you look at the 2 TASes, they actually take the upper path.
It's for a reason, the lower path is slower.
make a perfect TAS of the 2 paths and compare them if you don't want to believe me. :V

I already know the dates.
these two runs are 1 minut faster than yours, so I don't think they really copy yours.

Quote:

I don't think so.
they have totally different strats than yours actually.
Actually, a lot of strats I used, I found them myself, not copying yours and not copying the TASes either.
Don't think you're the only one who can find some tricks in this game.

Anyway, if you think having a better strat, you can always try to beat my time. :V
Exoray
I think you misunderstood him. He was merely joking about people stealing the "raptor kick Grant at the end of power station"-strats, not about any other important stuff Cheesy

Anyways congrats on completing your run, it will be a fine addition to the site Smiley
