i have some things to ask you:
1. in 2:47 hwo did you skip the animation? cause of getting hit by the shot?
2. in 6:50 the first desert lvl, recently i found a skip there, you can go on top of the ladder and jump from the platform to the right, it save quite a lot of time
3. in 7:41 you can perform a fast jump from the ladder and it should be faster
4. how does this glitch trigger in 13:09, i've done it in my run, but it was just luck and could not figure it out (maybe ladder animation and this abc bot strikes the ground?)
5. did you try to jump over the gap in 13:15, i tried it few times and it seems, that it was pretty close for me, but never got it

thank you for your work and everything is human possible right?
I want to make new improved TAS in future. So if someone will find useful new tricks/glitches please post them here. Any ideas for improvement are welcome too.

When mission is only started you must to move slightly to the right to activate it.

Itself counterclockwise-jump to platform is possible.
However unfortunately we need to kill first ABC-robot, and while we doing it opportunity window is closed Sad Very very close but fail. I really hate this place.
I added savestate (Emulator: snes9x-1.51-rerecording-v7-win32), If someone want to help - try to experiment with leap of faith from this state. if successful jump from this state is possible it will be real miracle.

btw. at 10:06 if you jump there to the top wall, it seems like it is not solid, you can jump through it, buut not reach the ground
maybe you can try some stuff there, i had no success
and in the same lvl you do not need to do the primary object, so we could go directly to the end, if it is possible through glitching

7:22 is this a frame perfect jump? never get it in a run

I keep working on improvement TAS and finally figured out how skip of terminal animation work: It is just kick in air + ↑ in air a few frames before landing.

Normally dark screen 204 frames, with glitch only 155! Though not work while falling from high platform, so sometime staging jump required, but even with staging jump it still faster than normal way.

Here well-optimised 2-1, with glitches it look like pretty hilarious Smiley

I checked it. But even with tools Dredd not able to jump higher than he can, and there are no glitchy path to reach exit earlier. Nice observations anyway.

i practised it and only got it 1 time
seems wo be really precise
can you give me your inputs and at which frames you press what buttons?

EDIT: i found a good setup for real time for the terminal animation skip, just spam UP and A
Hi Traviktox! Are you still running?

I almost finished my improvement tas. In perfectionist frame-hunt mode i just grind into dust my previous weakly optimised run. Tons of improvements, i saved over two minutes if someone interested Grin
Beside general optimisation (and some new tricks which feasible only with tools) there are also a few route changes which can be useful for unassisted run:

-2-3: After last terminal go to right not to the left, it ~1 sec faster.
-In 5-1&5-2 you can ignore collecting any 1 key card for your choice!! It save 9 sec in 5-1 and 4 sec in 5-2.
-In beginning of 9-2 you can destroy barrel thru the wall. About 4 sec.
-In 10-2 you can spawn boss earlier if look up while standing on the last glass tunnel. This bastard is too high it enough hard to kill him blindfolded. But if you can do it save about 5 sec.
-11-3 You can destroy one monitor (first) not in beginning, but from bottom (near Inter-Dimensional Jump Device). 2-3 sec.
-12-1:Completely new route. You can run on the lava to the right end (to big head statue) and meet there with Judge Fire. 9 sec faster.
Also there is glitch with dark judges, you do instant kill them with only 2 grenades in specific frame. Maybe with some luck you can do it unassisted. It save ~3 sec per judge.

I found faster method. You can shooting immediately after hitting the ground. It is 2 frames faster than kick before landing. Such cancels are used hundreds times, so in total it allowed to save significant amount of time.

i still running this game, but not so often, because i am not motivated
and got a new controller and i am still not get used to it
really great work from you and i will look at all you improvements and comment later to it
i would like to see your new TAS
btw. shooting to cancel the landing animation is only better in TAS, because the timing window is really small
and there is a possibility to one shot the guys with the white tunic and shotgun with your main weapon, but i have no idea how it works
if you shot them in 1-1 from the ladder diagonally sometimes they give up in 1 shot, maybe you can use it somewhere else in your run and tell me how to trigger it

Btw try to do also 100% run with completing both objectives, i think it should be pretty cool and for running and to watch Roll Eyes
if i get a decent time on any%, i will 100% give a try
still could not find a good setup to use in a run to cancel the terminal animation

you are also trying to speedrun it or you do only TAS stuff?


and here is the run i was waiting for.
i was really nervous at the end and it was so close at the end.
i am satisfied with the run and will take a break of any% and will take a look into 100% (all missions)
later i will grind again any% and learn better and risky strats
sub 35 is definitely and sub 34 will be hard

My 100% run will take a long time to route and learn it.
Mostly it is to kill all enemys, so i need to learn a reliable way to do it.
I got a real console, but it is a PAL one. I tried the PAL version of this game and it feels so slow and is unplayable. As the game is only at 70-80% speed.
I am not sure, if i will ever get a NTSC console with all the equipment.
Maybe one day i will speedrun it at a marathon.
Would like to see someone else speedrunning this game.
Let's discuss the 100% route here again. ^^
I have revealed the mystery about 5-1 and these ghosts.
It is still a theory, but should be legit. The mechanic is, that in few levels are these gangsters with ghosts in them.
If I kill the gangsters, but let the ghost fly away, he will get another gangster in the next level and so on.
In 100% and where i observed this problem, I just killed the gangsters and let the ghost fly away, because I costs time. Now i know i need to shot them with ghostbuster and arrest them.
Then they won't appear in the next lvls. There is even another perk of getting the ghosts with ghostbusters in 100%. They add up after all the lvls and therefore there are so much of them and it takes more hits to kill them, what costs time and sometimes health.
So basically there are no ghosts in 5-1, they come from the lvls before. That is the reason, why in any% there is no ghost in this lvl. If i do not release the ghost, they do no go to the next lvl.
In my opinion that is a interesting mechanic of the game and could change some route stuff in the lvls. Also the ammo managment is much more complicated, cause I can use a lot of weapons to deal with gangsters and save time.

I found another glitch, which could result in a time save and maybe allow to go our of bounds.
In 5-1 at the beginning there is a falling wall-door and it is in a elevator, which can me partly used.
You can go a bit up and get stuck there. Moving left and right is possible with looking to the other side and then crouch and then jump.
After doing this a few times, I just fell down. Maybe if you look into it, you can find something. Maybe even glitch to the end of the lvl, because the finish door is always open in this lvl, so no need to do the primary objective.

I want to share another thought of a potentially glitch/skip. In 11-3 the goal door gets open because of the orb. So killing the boss is not a requirement to end the lvl.
Right before the goal, there is a trampoline, which sends you a bit back and maybe it is possible to use this from the other entrance, which would skip a bit of the stage and the boss.
It is near the ABC-Bot and maybe he can help to clip through the wall. His Punch shake the screen and could be an option to clip through it.

I remember is possible to stuck inside the falling doors if get a damage before contact with door (rubber bullet for example). But without practical application.
Seems that i not understood what exactly you mean. Do you have this trick on video?

There are no way to clip through the wall. So imo this idea without any signs to become successful skip.


If you get damage before you hit up, you get sometimes a bit higher in the elevator.
I found a new skip, which saves something around 7 seconds in 5-1.
It is possible to reach higher platforms through death.

Yeah i still interesting in JD TASing, so please let me know if you will find something else. Probably closer to summer +/- few months i will try to do v3 updated TAS.

Actually some time ago i also found another small improvement in 9-2, with armor-piercing bullets possible destroy some barrels diagonally, it's about ~3 seconds faster than climb down to them.

So it is possible to clip into the ground and then go through a wall.
This clip could be useful in a speedrun. In these spots it is useless.


I noticed 3 things:
1. Jump need to start from a lower ground
2. You need to hit a wall at the top
3. You need to do a kick

Maybe you can take a look into it. I only looked in this lvl and already found 3 spots, i guess in the whole game there will be much more and something useful to found.
pretty exciting, this game getting interesting and broken.

edit: ok i found a potential time save with it, in 2-2 the first sewer lvl, after the 2nd terminator, you jump down both ladder and go to the right and use the clip, 1-2 seconds save i think
there are so many spots to use it, i love this clip

and found another skip, you can skip with it the second boss, so 2-3, i am not sure if it even saves time
so there you can used it at these half circle part
in 5-1 it is also possilble to do it on these stairs, but much harder

i never got the clip on these stairs, but i think it is not possible to clip through an elevator, they act wierd
at the right end they do not act like a wall, something like an edge, i am not sure

edit: got something interesting about the hard clips at the stairs and 2nd boss skip
sometimes they are for me impossible and other times they are 100% hit chance
you need to do something before you can do them, i am not sure what it is
something like hit another wall before it or jump and kick from a slope/stair


jump from the red circle and hit the red cross, this is the setup for the 2nd boss skip
something around 1 sec save



the setup here is to jump and hug the edge where the red circle is
for now a useless clip, unless it is possible to clip into the next elevator right next to it and use it downwards

These are all the new skips i know, done with this clips.
And i found out how to clip into these stairs in 5-1, the setup is to cancel a fall animation, you need to jump from the highest spot of the stairs to get it.
The problem with it is, you fall under the ground and you are stuck under it. So no skip directly to the exit.

I got another thought, the stairs at your TAS youtube time 20:22, i tried to clip into them, but found no setup, it would be useful.
Maybe you can take a look into it.

Sub 30 in a RTA is free now, got recently a 30:09 and will upload a video, when i have sub 30.
Oh man, you are genius! So many brilliant skips!!

In 1st sewer this clip is slower than normal path i tested it earlier. Also some doubts about usefulness of second boss skip (in TAS boss killed almost immediately) even if clip is faster it will save very little time less than 1 sec.
But all the rest is pure gold. Amazing finds, good job. Good luck with sub 30 Smiley
Improvement for TAS i will start somewhen closer to summer, with all these new skips it will be sub 24 for sure Grin
