Hey everyone,

I wasn't sure where to post this question, but since it's kind of SDA-related, I'll put it here. Feel free to move it anywhere more appropriate.

As you can read in the title, I'm interested in finding the Japanese equivalent of SDA. I've tried searching for Japanese speedrun forums, but (afaik) the Japanese term for [speedrunning] is making it kind of tricky to find (and I'm pretty fluent in Japanese), so I thought I'd ask the biggest speedrunning community, since you guys probably had at least some contact with Japanese speedrunners.

Or maybe you can get me in contact with some Japanese speedrunners, so I can just ask them?

Any help is very appreciated.

Dapper as fuck.
I think http://www.nicovideo.jp/ is their equivalent basically (or at least is part of it since there seems like more stuff than speedrunning on the front page)?  Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
HELLO!
There isn't one.  SDA is unique.
Exoray
Most of the speed running stuff seems to exist on nico. Speed runs are often referred to as RTA so you should be able to search using that term.

Nico Nico Douga is more like Japanese Youtube. But yeah, it's where JP speedrunners generally post their videos. They also have a (bad) streaming service.

Ok, then that kind of confirms my suspicion

I've also heard from another Japanese RTA guy I contacted that there isn't any real general hub like SDA in Japan where speedrunners come together. They pretty much have small pockets of runners per game and communicate mostly on twitter.
I knew about nicovideo, but like KennyMan666 said, it's more like youtube. I was looking for something similar to SDA.
They/them
Maybe you can start it. You could be the aaroninjapan of speedruns.
This site is actually pretty good. It's a leaderboard site instead of actual links to videos or discussion so not quite the SDA of Japan. If you're looking for runs of more obscure games or Japanese records then this will help quite a bit.

Have fun navigating it if you can't read Japanese though.

Thanks. Found that for my obscure game, no more runs are seem to be known than those I already know of ^^
HELLO!
That wiki is good for finding times but a) registration is IP locked to Japan only and b) it's just leaderboards and rules, no discussion.  So it's not really an SDA equivalent.

Great for finding times (and sometimes videos), not so great for finding out how they were made.

Another downside to that wiki is that it only tracks runs that were streamed live on Niconico (which has no means of saving VODs past 1 week, and even watching those requires a paid premium membership) - even streaming a recording of an offline attempt doesn't count.

Always seems odd to me that their community prioritizes live streaming so much over having lasting recordings of runs.
HELLO!
I've seen non-Nico recordings on that wiki in the past. The FDS Zelda 2 WR that was posted there was streamed on livestream, though oddly the creator eventually deleted the account.  But yeah it's mostly nico there. Nico or no video at all.

I've found some speedrun-related material on youku and fun.tv as well.  Not knowing Japanese or Chinese really sucks :/

Random question: Is there a aggregated list of record times for western speedruns similar to the one PinkPyjamas mentioned the Japanese use? (http://niconamarta.sakura.ne.jp/recent_record.php)
HELLO!
Mostly it's per-game. though a few games have moved onto speedrun.com
