I AM FUCKED ANGRY
I have a problem and I hope someone can help me. I can not read, speak, write or translate the japanese language. I had buy the game July for dreamcast from a japanese import store and it works on my pal dreamcast with boot gameshark (without cheats, only boot). The intro movie and the sound is very cool, but all this is in japanese with long texts and some questions.

so I read this on gamespot ->

http://www.gamespot.com/july/
July is a disturbingly bland choose-your-own-adventure book that just happened into a Dreamcast port.

This is not a game ? I watch only a long text in japanes on my tv ?

Can someone help me to translate the manuel book ? I can make photos of my manuel and upload this in this topic. The book is short and has 10 pages.
Thread title:
It's probably something similar to a visual novel, a kind of game that's mainly popular in Japan.  Here's a brief explanation from vndb.org's FAQ:
Quote:
A visual novel can be seen as a combination of a novel and a computer game: they're computer games with a large text based storyline and only little interaction of the player. A typical visual novel consists of text over an anime-style background image and is accompanied by background music. Throughout the game, the player usually has to answer a few questions which will have an effect on the story, thus playing a visual novel a second time while giving other answers may result in an entirely different plot.

And here's a relevant note from Wikipedia's article on visual novels:
Quote:
Visual novels are rarely produced for video game consoles, but the more popular games are sometimes ported to systems such as the Dreamcast or the PlayStation 2. The more famous visual novels are also often adapted into the light novel, manga or anime formats. The market for visual novels outside of East Asia is small, though a number of anime based on visual novels are popular among anime fans in the Western world.

You could upload photos of the manual if you're curious about what it says.  I dunno if I could translate it all, but maybe someone else could help. Tongue  Though if you just want to find out how to play the game and what the basic storyline is, you might be able to Google for some resources in English (or your native language).

Thanks for your answer.

I had know of this game for years, but I was not search of the genre of this game. I was think it is a horror survivel game, but I had not think it is a visual novel game. So it is not a real game.

I had found on gamefaqs a translation of the manual.
http://www.gamefaqs.com/dreamcast/197699-july/faqs

It is not a real faq, only a translation from the manual.

This game is not good for a speedrun, so it make not sense to translate the storyline.

I hope sda has a user that had play this game and can explain me something about this game more.
