It's-a me, Stalin!
I'm very surprised there isn't a run on this game, as this is a very good game and very runnable.

I only bought it today, but i've played it before. I've already found some speed tricks along the way, saving up to a few minutes.

Would anyone be interested in running it?
Thread title:
Waiting hurts my soul...
I've never heard of it, although I'd probably watch some of it.

Also, there are a lot of games missing from speedrunning that I'm surprised not to see, here or on the net.  I hope to help fill out the SDA library once I get set up to do some runs.

I own the game, but my brother is the Nightfire expert. I'm the Everything or Nothing master. I haven't played Nightfire in a very long time, so I'm afraid I can't help you with it.  Sad

If you've got the game and found tricks, why don't you run it? I'd be interested in seeing it run for sure.

Than why not make a run of that?  There was one guy that was going to do the Platinum runs a couple months back, but he disappeared.  Made me sad Sad

I'd love to run loads of games but I don't have the money for equipment or the technical know.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat as you for now, but I'll hopefully be getting a DVD Recorder soon, or Fraps and some PC games as an alternative.  I'm looking forward to speedrunning once school is done.

I hope you're able to get running yourself.  Maybe you could do a practice run and post a time to aim for?  This will give an incentive to those that have the game, either to beat your time or it'll be something to aim for if someone wants to do a run.

For "The Exchange" take the secret path behind the castle thing, it takes you right to the rendezvous or w/e.

I actually started a thread asking about games people would like to see me speedrun. I listed that game, and no one expressed interest.  Sad

There have been all sorts of Fraps horror stories floating around here for a long time. Make sure you know what you're getting into.

I've hardly had it a day, so i'm only on Enemies Vanquished, which was my favourite mission so far. But i'll try to record with my camera today

The last mission is the worst one, look forward to it!
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
There's usually a topic every year about someone requesting a run of this game, but nobody ever follow through.  :-/

All I can tell you: STRAFING is faster than walking straight. Some missions were so much fun in this game... and some were damn hard. *thinks back to Chain Reaction snipers and that Phoenix level with all the corridors*

Ugh, it was totally anticlimatic. All you have to do is shoot the occasional foot soldier and some locks when they changed color.

Everything or Nothing fixed both these problems. They not only loaded the last mission with the most bad guys, its a really freaking hard level too. This is a good thing though, as that's how it should be done.

Well I have no idea where the thread was that I was talking about; it's not showing up in a search.  There were quite a number of people at that point that were interested in watching either a normal speedrun or a Platinum run. Personally, the latter sounds more interesting.

Just surviving a Platinum run would be a miracle, never mind a speedrun of one. I'd definitely have to break that one up into segments due to the luck required in some of the levels, not to mention the extreme difficulty involved.

I'd gladly do an easy and normal single-segment though. I may even do a hard difficulty single segment after I feel as though I've had enough practice on the previous two. I'm working on something else at the moment though, and have two games planned after that.

To get this thread back on track - how is Nightfire going NK3233?

Hah, I never meant an SS of it; segmented is the way to go for sure.

I've recorded The Exchange on a DVD recorder, and I'm getting my uncle to convert it so I can upload it in parts.

But it's only a practice segment, and the bit with the panel you have to laser is really sloppy, and I even pause the game for a second, because I was trying to explain to someone what I was doing!

I got a rough time of about 5mins I think.

Is no-one gonna do this run? If the DVD recording worked I might have to do it myself, but I wouldn't submit it to SDA.

It's all up to you. Why won't you submit this to SDA?

It would probably not be good enough and I don't have the time

Wait, 5 minutes on the exchange? Just speeding through should give you a time of ~ 2:45...

Kind of random to post this here and its not really of any 'speedrun' use, but:

on levels where you are not allowed to hit/kill civilians. (a red screen will come up when you do with the U FAIL LOL music). If you hit start on the EXACT the moment you hit them, you will hear the same music but you will be able to continue to play afterwards where you will be allowed to knock out/kill everyone. On the party, you can even kill Drake, Kiko, Zoe and Rook.
(To manage killing all of them is kind of complicated and will require the key shocker to get rid of the bouncers).

Unfortunately you cant continue to the next mission when this glitch is active.

Sry I cant make a video :[ but HF though.
Use the Force!!!!!!
I was thinking about doing a Speed Run on this game. It will be on Console Version (PS2/X-Box Version). The PC and Console version are very different level and weapon wise. It sucks on the PC version u didn't get to drive ANY Vehicles.
I'll post more later when i start trying. I will probably do it on Agent Mode (Medium Difficulty) just to try it out.
I'll be working on this game for a while. Right now I'm focusing on finding/utilizing glitches in the game to improve the TAS.

Here's an old trick in the game with a speedy new use:

Thanks to an easier way to clip there are many new timesavers for this game now. New tricks are being updated in this post: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=347321#347321

All are console doable except the TAS method of the car OoB glitch which is even hard to TAS.
