Hi all, I'm Yeti (or YetiRevolution if you prefer). AGDQ inspired me to finally make an account ^^

Currently I'm working on some casual runs of N, and hopefully I'll have enough free time from school when Bioshock Infinite comes out to make some attempts are running it as well.

My other hobbies include lots of Starcraft II, parkour and programming.
Mastermind.

There's a 50% chance somebody somewhere around here will recognize my name from elsewhere. I didn't even know SDA had a forum, but I've been dropping in for years to watch stuff like Red Scarlet's Super Metroid runs. Since then I've taken a long foray into game design and think speedrunning to be one of the best ways to keep a game fresh.

Soon enough I'll be looking to post a new-game speedrun of Armored Core: For Answer and perhaps AC4 as well.
Hey everyone, my name is MarshanInvaders, or Marshan (pronounced like martian) for short. I wouldn't say I'm much of a hardcore gamer but gaming has had a huge impact on my life. I currently live outside of Detroit, MI which is not as bad as it sounds. I'm currently unemployed for some personal things I need to work out and have been interested in speedrunning for a short while since I saw some of Cosmos SM64 runs (I think) and since then it's been growing and has definitely blown up since watching almost the entirety of AGDQ.

I am hoping to start running Kingdom Hearts and take down SpikeVegeta's time and Psychonauts because I enjoy those games a lot. I've always been more of a story based player but seeing how much skill goes into doing speedruns is amazing.

I am also an artist and a musician, but not the greatest at either.
^_^
Hi everyone, I'm Trevor Magnani, the handle I go by in most cases is "Tmags". I have been casually running games for a bit, but decided to start taking speedrunning a bit more seriously as of late and decided to make an account here to check out strategies other runners have as well as submit my own (if I have any). My goal in joining is to eventually take my speedrunning skills to the next level and possibly be good enough to appear at an event like AGDQ. As many of the attendees at AGDQ have said, the speedrunning community is one of the best online communities online and I am proud to say that I am part of it. My current addiction is New Super Mario Bros U, but might expand my horizons in the near future to other titles.
Hello, my name's Quentin, and I started to join the community before Awesome Games Done Quick 2013 started up, but the interest in making this a hobby died off for about half a year.  After seeing AGDQ, though, I decided that I'd like to be present at the next event; whether or not I can train up a few games in a year is something else entirely, but I'm interested in practicing Rocket Knight Adventures, Castlevania: Bloodlines, F-Zero GX, and Super Metroid.
My name's Alexander. I am a receptionist/bartender (night audit) at a local hotel. Thought I would sign up after this year's great marathon, which has inspired me enough to get my know-how to the members pf the community. (That's you!)
Perhaps I will go in with speedrunning in the future, but until then I will mostly have a seat and watch the entertainment.
>(O.o)<
Hey hey,

My name's Stephen and I've just had a decent amount of sleep!

I work part-time as IT Tech for an outsourcing office, and ofcourse, have a passion for video games of old and new.

Coming off my World of Warcraft addiction from release till 2011 Summer, and Unreal Tournament 99 (which is how I got started with online gaming back in 2000), I've not really found any particular activity/game that has my full attention...but I favor the JRPG/Adventure/FPS genres the most.

Having never watched any speedrunning before, my friends directed me to the Awesome Games Done Quick event...in which, I lost countless hours of sleep (as did many others)...and never really understood the hype of the whole thing...but had a lot of nostalgic games which tugs away at my senses and well...just had an all-round "good feeling". Was a great event, an absolute joy to watch. Congratulations on it's success! Was very entertaining with a nice array of games...and ofcourse, SpikeVegeta/Sig/Cosmos/Runnerguy as well as many others were awesome.
Hi SDA community members. (:
My name is Kevin, just joined the community. Reason being, AGDQ having Mass Effect on the schedule, and SDA seems like a nice community. Cheesy

Currently getting my degree in electrical engineering here in Sweden, still 2.5 years left so still at my first year.

Would like to contribute to the Mass Effect speedrunning and see what I can come up with, if anything at all. Cheesy

Hope to talk to you guys and gals soon.

Cheers!
Hi everyone I am Brett. Currently unemployed while I take some classes and try and figure out what I'd like to do in the long run. I am rather interested in learning about programming (though i'm still a newbie) and possibly making my own games in the future, though with my love of speed running I think I would have to try and incorporate some sort speed running aspect lol. Playing video games has been my main hobby since I was a kid. Then a few years ago I found out about SDA and started watching all these games that used to be impossible get utterly destroyed within minutes. Needless to say I was hooked and have been following and watching ever since. I would have to say that after watching AGDQ don't feel so shy about posting anymore I really feel like I would like to join this community, make new friends and see where my gaming skills can take me. I am more interested in Nes/Snes games and thinking of practicing Super Adventure Island 2, though I enjoy play Ninja Gaiden 1-3, any megaman game, punch out and blaster master any time.

Cheers everyone! Cheesy
Hey I'm PlausibleZebra
I've been here for about a week since AGDQ started. I have a youtube channel that I LP on by the same name as this account. Thats where all my speedruns will go. Currently I'm working on a speedrun of Super Mario World(SNES)
Hello!

My name is Ashilyn, or Andrew if you're feeling friendly. I've been lurking around SDA since SGDQ '12, but AGDQ '13 and a few of my friends convinced me to finally start posting and stop lurking. I've been considering getting into speedrunning, at least casually, for a while now. While I lack the equipment for streaming and recording at the moment it's something I'm looking into, and hopefully I'll be able to get some stuff up at some point after a lot of practice.

I tend to enjoy RPGs and action games, and my favourite systems are the Dreamcast and the PSP. Maybe I'll get a few games in from both at some point.
hey! this is JetKirby, none of you here know me but for future refference thats my usual name on most sites such as youtube

I decided to make an account here after watching the SDA week long marathon, it was awesome and very entertaining

a little about myself, I am not a true speed runner like a lot of you are, I have loved video games since i could hold a controller, one of my earliest memories is playing the legend of zelda ALTTP with my mom at 2-3 years old

I try my best to get from here to there in video games, but i don't try breaking games or using glitches like you guys do, its really amazing and fun to watch speed runners play the game in different ways, good job on all your awesome talent and all the money you guys raised for the charity

I also joined to share one of my favorite new games with this community, see if anybody has played it, and if anybody could speed run it, so if your interested or used to speed running 2D zelda games, look out for new threads from me on other boards

thanks for taking the time to read this if you did
Welcome to all the new members! Great to see some old Unreal players here Smiley
Viking it up
Greetings, I'm a speedrunner from SpeedRunsLive.  I watched a lot of AGDQ this past week, including the Final Finale, which convinced me I need to be involved in SDA as well.

I'm currently the WR holder (as far as I'm aware) for any% Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt for SNES.  It's not a very good record, so I'm working on improving it, and hoping the game will get more exposure and maybe I'll have some competition!  It's a really responsive platformer with some excellent art and music, but the Addams Family aesthetic might be a turn-off to some, and I guess the game didn't get much publicity.

I have other projects in the wings, like a FFX Nemesis speedrun I'm planning out right now.  My goal is to be at the next AGDQ, and maybe also some other marathons at some point; to that end, my New Year's resolution is to stream on SRL a lot more and get myself some actual viewers.  Y'know, more than 2-3 would be nice.  Smiley
Hello fresh meat! Need help figuring out how to use Anir-Chan to display 3DS Footage. So I will be asking a lot of question, and reading a lot of threads.

Sorry It seems I was able to post without being logged it!
Hello everyone, I'm Chris and I decided to join the community after watching AGDQ for most of the past week.

I had always heard about speedrunning, but I had never actually taken the time to look into it.  After seeing some fo the amazing runs at the marathon and how awesome the community was here, I knew I had to come check it out.  Who knows?  I may even try my hand at speedrunning myself one day soon.
Time to Slam Jam
Hey guys, Another runner from SRL who came by to get familiar with SDA brothers, and the forum posters alike. I speedrun Barkley, shut up and Jam: Gaiden and other PC related games. I'm glad to be apart of the community, and hope that I'll meet other amazing runners!
hey man :3
Hello!

I watched a ton of the latest AGDQ over the past week, and it finally inspired me to check out the forums.  I used to speedrun in a very unofficial way with Kingdom Hearts when I was younger (by beating it over and over and trying to beat my older times), but now I just stick to FPS/rhythm games, but it'd be interesting to try speedrunning something else!  I also use jankanpo/Fox! as an alias, but it's always nice to join new communities that I find to be really interesting.
Hello, I'm Nick, and I decided to make an account on the forums after watching AGDQ 2013 over the last week. I was really impressed with how skilled the players in the marathon were, and how much money they were able to raise for the Prevent Cancer foundation. This marathon has also got me interested in speed running, and I may even try my own hand at it sometime. Anyway, my some of my favorite series include Final Fantasy, The Legend of Zelda, Megaman, Metroid, Disgaea, and Pokemon. Also, there's a chance that some of you may recognize my username from TheSpeedGamers forums, where I do post things from time to time.
Hey
Hey all, NeoMidline (From all the twitch marathons) here.  Never been on the boards but wanted to join in after years and years of viewing.  I'm about to really grind out some runs that I've been wanting to do for a while and can't wait to get them done.  The first run I will do is "Robo Pit" for the PS1.  I'm currently trying to get it from one hour to under 45 min.  I don't think I'll be happy till I can get it under 35 min, which will be really hard but hey, that's what we do right?  Wish me luck!  Lates.
Amateur DKC Runner
Hello everyone, it's RaikouRider--I've been doing Let's Plays for about five years, as well as more casual runs of Super Mario Bros. 3 and the SNES Donkey Kong Country trilogy. I made an account several years back but never used it--AGDQ 2013 was awesome enough to make me change that. I want to find a game that I like enough to run, but without such rigid (nearest minute) timing like the DKC games. My first goal here will be to finally nail down that elusive sub-1:00 101% time in DKC1. The last run I did was 1:01, which made me rather frustrated.

I do a gaming stream every week, but the gaming isn't always speedruns. Probably the best run-related thing I did for my stream was put up a total time of 5:37 for 101/2/3% runs of the DKC trilogy, back-to-back-to-back. I'd eventually like to get that time below 5:00. Wish me luck!
Element Zer0 Sub-Director
Well hello to all of the SDA community, I am M*A*S*H, more commonly known as Mash_MX at majority of places but most used is just Mash.
I like the the old television show M*A*S*H that is why i choose this alias, I have been known under different variances of it for over 10 years and have spent those years loving and playing games of all kinds across all varieties of systems. I first started on my Father's Atari with Pitfall, then my first self owned system was a Genesis playing games such as Sonic etc and my favorites were Streets of Rage and  Altered Beast. I then moved to the Saturn then Dream Cast shortly after followed the Playstation and Xbox. I then got into playing PC games and at the same time wanted to learn useful things about the Computers them self, somehow it ended getting me even more in love with games but also creating them or content for them, I love going back to play classics or even just a self favorite. The first serious sets of games that I got into were RTS games which lead to me getting heavily involved with Starcraft and the Diablo, but I found a better love going by the Series name of "Command and Conquer". Now a days I mainly play RTS and Adventure or RPG games of all types and kinds. I spent most of my time now playing League of Legends when not working, but still playing other games. I am part of a Guild that plays a variety of fresh games which we are now over 7k+ members strong and I got into it through friends in League of Legends, and now I am our Sub-Director who manages and sets up various events for that game. I have been watching the SDA community for a long time now and love every  bit of the dedication and events that they put on including AGDQ which I started watching over 3 years ago and have since then watched and talked to runners every bit of time to see what they are up to. I loved the Castlevania games and RomScout was my favorite for that, Him and the whole SDA community got me interested more and more over the years. I have since then been practicing odd games that most being non-AAA titles and most from non american devlopers, like ATLUS, Tri-Ace, SandLot etc, but I love all of them and continue to grow my collection every year. I have since then been Designing games and working on a current title for the last 6 years on and off as well as expanding and creating new ideas everyday. I have repaired countless numbers of computers over the years and have since then built many as well, and most recently my 3k GDC rig which costed me 80% less then what it would be to buy one of even half the comparison. I hope to have my streaming up soon to show what I play and what games I am practicing etc and be part of the community as everything about Games and Computers always teaches me something new to use in future years. Thank you very much guys. <3 U SDA and especially RomScout. =D
Hi guys,

I got interested in speedrunning recently due to the AGDQ 2013 charity marathon. I'd love to contribute something to the community. I recently picked up MH3(Monster Hunter Tri) again recently and I've been thinking about the possibility of speedrunning it. I'd like to know if anyone is interested in exploring this with me. =]
Hi everybody!

I'm a long time follower of SDA (and later SRL) but never really had the courage to register or even join the community. I first heard of SDA during AGDQ 2011, which made me happy that people do come together to do a charity for a great cause and because of the great entertainment everyone provided. Speedrunning itself was, around that time, not that new to me, I didn't know that there are great communities around it, though. That said, back in the day I tried to speedrun for myself alone, since it gave me a reason to play my favorite games again and trying to beat them a little faster than in a regular playthrough, without thinking about talking to friends about it or writing down my times. It was something I did without really thinking too much about it. But it was AGDQ 2011 which finally brought me to the fascination of speedrunning. I loved the great cause of the marathon and the entertainment. I saw that it made people happy and gave them a smile on their face (myself included). I started to read SDA and watch the great runs hosted on the site. Later I started to watch live speedruns, discovered SRL and got hooked. Learning how a game works while beating it as fast as possible, that's the fascination of speedrunning for me. I do love motor racing and sometimes I somehow compare it with speedrunning. This may sound weird, I know, and I can't really describe my thinking behind it, I'm sorry.

Depending on the situation I'm a not very curageous person and sometimes I tend to be really shy. Joining the speedrun community is one of those moments. While I do love it and while it does entertain me (both watching and doing it) I thought that there's no place for someone like me in such a nice looking a good community. I don't consider myself, compared to probably most (if not all) of the runners who are live running or have their runs hosted here on SDA as a very skilled player. In fact, I think I will never be able to beat any records (although that's not really my goal), and that also was something that made me a little scared joining the community. Even when I made my account shortly after AGDQ 2013 ended, I thought really hard about even writing my introduction and trying to be part of the community.

That I finally found the courage to do so is thanks to the community itself, but especially thanks to everyone talking so nice during yesternight's broadast of TSSB on the bonus stream. Everybody found so nice and warm feeling words that I finally found the courage to try and join the community. I hope I am welcomed.

Thanks everybody for your amazing work over the years. There aren't even words which can describe the effort you put into speedrunning as a hobby and doing charity marathons for a great cause. Thank you!
