My name is Arran and I'm a 24 year old living in South Wales. I've been a part of this site for almost five years, though I was interested in speedrunning (and had made my first speedrun...) before I knew SDA even existed. I found SDA after someone improved on my speedrun and directed me here, though my run was not really SDA material because it was fanmade content. I play a lot of games and have a single-segment speedrun of Serious Sam up on the site, and I am also featured in some of the coop runs of Serious Sam: The Second Encounter that should be going up soonish. I'm also one of your local friendly IRC chat moderators.

Hey there SDA, I'm Zack Allard. I actually never considered speedrunning things, instead I was just trying out highscoring for Star Fox 64 back in 2006. I heard about SDA from PSonar, since he was starting to get burnt out from it and tried speedrunning it while I started trying high scores. I made this account forever ago to make a post, but never did until later. I don't really know anyone here too well, but maybe that'll change soon.

I eventually ended up trying to submit decent SF64 records to Twin Galaxies, but then I noticed they had a chart for speedrunning the game. I always thought speedrunning this game was a bit... weird considering it's like 90-95% rails, but decided to go for it anyways just to fill in the last gap I didn't have over there. Then I thought I might as well post the run here too since it happen to best PSonar's any% run Cheesy

Since I'm super new to speedrunning, I've pretty much only done easy games like SF64, Doc Louis's Punch-Out (literally under a 3 minute game), and some Punch Out Wii IL's. The PO ILs are probably the hardest thing I've done so far though, although I feel ILs aren't as hard as doing single segment runs since they're easy to retry on. Miles did lend a hand with a couple of spots though, which I still appreciate greatly.

I'm trying Splatterhouse for the Turbo Grafx 16 at the moment, but it's getting to be very challenging to do a run I feel is ok, despite the game being somewhat easy. The more I attempt it, the more I understand how difficult it really is to get runs of games up on SDA. I start to really appreciate all the hard work everyone else put into their runs of all the games here; most of them are absolutely mind blowing on how near perfect they are.

Eventually, I'd like to try to optimize the other SF64 runs if it's possible later on down the road just for completion's sake. Not sure what else I would do after that though.

Oh hey I didn't know this was here.

So yeah I'm sure most of you TSC guys know me but for those who don't?  I've done plenty of Sonic Advance series level speedruns (and some choice levels from other Sonic games) and have been speedrunning since... 2006 or so (Though it's been on and off recently).  Though I've seen the site every now and again I didn't think of actually joining until a few months back.  Hoping to actually get around to making some runs here once I have a way to record.

Might have some non-Sonic related runs afterwards too since frankly, I've got a pretty big backlog of games I can re-complete and could always make something interesting of it.
Uh, hi!

A few of you on the board probably know me from streams (Romscout, J, maybe a few others recognize the handle).  My name is Rob, and while I'm not a speedrunner I do tend to play a lot of games.  Too many, perhaps.  (Curse you, Steam, and your holiday sales!)  Anyway, I watched part of last year's marathon but never really got around to creating an account here.  Watched as much as I could of this year's marathon and I'm glad I did, because it was damned entertaining and for an awesome cause, to boot.

Anyway, I've been gaming since I was really young, around 3-4 years old, back in the Atari 2600 days.  Then Colecovision, then a Commodore 64, NES, the first "real PC" I got my hands on was a 386DX, etc.  Gaming and computing in general have been my hobbies for longer than I can remember, so it should surprise nobody that (in my third attempt) I'm going for a degree in Information Technology/Networking.

Okay, enough life story.  You guys seem like an awesome community and I hope to be involved in it to some extent, so here's to that.

Hi. After the 2011 marathon I got tired of lurking and decided to finally register. Metroid games are my favorite, and I started out on M2K2 before coming here. I also like Zelda, Megaman, Castlevania, and mostly other classic stuff. I don't know if I'll ever attempt a real speedrun though. After getting a shiny gold medal in time attack in every level on Donkey Kong Country Returns, which is essentially doing a segmented speedrun only worse because you don't get to carry Diddy over to each level, I got absolutely sick of the game and was screaming curses at the TV in frustration. Same thing when I was trying to get sub-4 hours in Other M. I'd probably get ulcers and have a heart attack if I made any serious attempts, but we'll see. For the moment I have nothing to use for recording. I was pondering giving Soul Blazer a shot though, I love that game.
Howdy Doody

I pronounce it nigh-gleer-ia.  There are a few different pronunciations, but all you need to know is that it is a brain eating amoeba.  I am getting a degree in Biochemistry and occasionally play games in what spare time I have.  I have been watching runs on SDA for over a year now, and I have been doing some casual speed running as well.  I have been playing the Sonic games on the Genesis/Mega Drive and have gotten a quite few levels down to a second or two off the record.  I would like to get decent runs of Sonic, Sonic 2, and Sonic 3&K.  I also bought Chakan on Ebay, and would like to speed run it, after I figure out how to beat it, because the game is awesome.
Obscure games ftw
Basically, I'm just a teenager with a passion for games.  Years of playing on a time limit instilled in me the drive to go faster, and always look for timesavers.  Cut forward to mid-July 2010.  While stumbling around YouTube, I found Sir_VG's Super Mario Galaxy Uber Challenge videos.  I thought those were interesting, then moved on.  Then I found one of the rip-off channels that upload SDA runs.  It had started uploading the 100% SS of Super Mario Sunshine, and I wanted to see the rest.  Conviently, it had a link to the site.  I lurked for a few days before posting a few times as a guest.  Without a cool username, I just put 'I have no name', refering to me not having a username and my desire to stay mostly anonymous.  In mid-August, I created an account here, helped out a bit with a few runs, and started work on an Ape Escape run (though I lack the proper equipment).

Hi.

I bet you'll be getting one hell of an influx, and good on you. Great job with the 2011 marathon.

I'm a 30yr old retro/nintendo gamer and plan on crushing either Soul Blazer or Secret of Evermore, SS style.

Hello!

My real name is Ian, and I've been hanging round here for a year or so, tried to start a couple of runs, but then work commitments got in the way.  I'm not sure when they'll get out of the way though.  I've been gaming ever since the Master System, and my favourite systems to play on are the Mega Drive (Genesis for most of you) and the Amiga.  I really wanted to contribute to the meagre Amiga games list, but I've been reduced to playing on an emulator since my A500 broke, and emulated runs aren't allowed Sad

The games I would most like to run are Spyro 2 and James Pond 3, since they are two of the games I play the most, when I get time.  As you can tell, I am very much a retro gamer Smiley
That Guy
Much like others here, I decided to stop lurking around and actually register.  I'm politely declining to use my real name; but I will say I'm 21 and live in Canada and that I've been following SDA's runs for a few years.  I have a really odd habit of using them to fall asleep, actually - not because they're boring, but because I play games so much that the sound of them being played is really relaxing!

I also wish to state I have the insane desire to attempt to speedrun Mega Man Battle Network Trasmission, despite knowing full well how painful it will be 8D
Don't mind me.
Well, hi. My name is Josh and I currently live in Juneau, Alaska. I love games and I think I'd love running them more. I mainly play pc games, but the classic consoles never get old to me either. I've been working on Oracle of Ages for a while now, studying up on which routes to take, memorizing what each level looks like, etc. So I hopefully don't get too busy with college, that way I can get a run of it. I'm aiming for a SS of it.

Anyways, the marathon was awesome, which is probably the reason I decided to register. Hope to have fun here!

Hello, everyone. Coupled with my face-displaying in the other thread, I'll introduce myself here as well.

My name is Ricky, I'm 18, and I'm currently a philosophy major just starting school. I dropped out of high school but am being carried through school by my GED and ACT scores. I play music, and play down town every once in a while so people can throw money at me. A YouTube song from LeWoVoc

I've never been extremely into gaming myself, having only a very small collection of games that I've ever played regularly, most of which I still play today. (Age of Empires 2, Diablo 2, Super Mario 64, namely) I watch speedruns for more games than I've ever played, I just love the skill involved.
waifus are laifu
Call me Kari, but don't get me confused with Essentia Tongue

I've been gaming since 1993 after getting bored with board games during the blizzard that year and getting an SNES as a replacement, and I've been hooked ever since. My mom may or may not consider this a mistake that she made, however she is also into gaming.

I've been here since 2006, since that's when I started working on speedruns. I've got a topic around here from back then about a Silhouette Mirage run I was working on, which I'd love to finish someday. I've also dabbled with Growlanser II.
Waiting hurts my soul...
Hey Kari, I thought you left. Good to see that you're still around. Silhouette Mirage run would be cool to watch.
SGL Scrublord
Thought I did this already, ah well. I'm Cory, been playing games since before I could read (since all we had was Ghosts and Goblins, that may explain how I got so patient). I've been heavy and light into gaming, had an MMO phase, and I prefer FPS and RPGs. I won't claim to be awesome at gaming, in fact I'll state most of the site's runners can probably do asleep what I can do only after months of work. Currently I'm trying to become a teacher, and taking far too many courses per semester to do so :P. I've also made a point to do things outside of gaming for charity and the environment, and I love the fact that the site's primary organizers are so into helping with their marathons.

Its strange gaming at my age (the ripe old age of 26, fetch the cane!), where the last generation was breaking loose and doing their own thing, where we have so many things different and a crappy economy to work with. I'm glad we can prove that gamers aren't just addicted to escapism, but to have it be a part of their lives.

Yes, I'm too serious usually, and games let me be as wacky as I want to be! I need to further embrace my inner nerd!
If only we're nothing at all.
While this may be my first post, i have been here quite sometime, watching runs and learning from all you awesome runners. My name is Kellen, I've been actively playing Video games since... as far as i can remember, i first played Gex on the 3DO i believe (name isnt coming to me at the moment, neither the game or system but it was something similar to that), along with that i began to get into Diablo and other similar games of that nature, While I'm passionate about speed running, i honestly do not know where to start and was hoping that this post will put me in the right direction or something of that nature. Was fun watching you guys progress over this last year and lets hope this years is just as good if not better! See ya around.

(Sidenote loved the video LeWoVoC Keep up the good work! Did you take choir by chance?)

Well I thought I'd be a cool cat and tag along in this introduction shenanigans thread thing. Hello, I am Ani, alternatively known as Skyler in the real world (rofl irl, what a shitty game), and I joined this site originally because I was interested in running LoZ: Wind Waker. My sites have grown larger since then, but.. my game taste hasn't, as some people who have heard of the runs I plan on doing know already. I've been getting alot of .....why...?'s when it comes to that (even PJ had to question it)

I was also the runner for Sly Cooper for this year's marathon, which I might as well hand out a public apology: Mz. Ruby is too powerful.

once again another post I might edit later
I'm Andrew, I've been watching videos on this site for oh so many years.  I found out about the marathon from a friend and joined during the forums when they weren't getting hammered from 3000 people watching the streams, I was under zefirys in the chat.

I've been wanting to do a run of Bayonetta for a while, but it seems one was done at the marathon.  I want to do a run of Valkyie Profile in hopes to update some of the runs listed on the site.  I just need to get my hands on a PS1 copy since I have the PSP version.  Maybe God of War 3 if I can get boss strats down good enough >>

I look forward to the shenanigans that happen here!
I'm Mike. I've been showing off this site to my friends and co-workers who are still shocked to see someone breeze through games that gave them headaches/nightmares while growing up.

I tend to like some of the lesser known games that are not mentioned as often; such as Tsuganai: Atonement and Rising Zan Samurai Gunman. I am not huge into speedrunning myself, but I do like to make perlers.

See you all around.
sda loyalist
I'm Paul "Lag.Com" Davies. I've been around SDA for quite some time, as my first Quake demo on the site will attest to (April 2005), but I don't have much in the way of published runs. When I'm not complaining about how slowly my myriad in-progress runs (Majesty, Total Annihilation, Arcomage, Klonoa 2, Shadow of the Horned Rat) are going or calling Tommy Tallarico shit I like to play low-tier champions on League of Legends.

Aside from gaming there isn't much to me. I like mathematics and music and writing and calligraphy but I'm not good at any of these things so who cares.
We all scream for Eyes Cream
I'm Daniel "Axel Ryman" Fitzgerald, and no my nickname isn't based off Axel from Kingdom Hearts. Some of you might know me as that Touhou-loving KH2 guy, but if you don't, now you do. I've been working on possible speedruns for games not on the site as well as a few that are currently on. So far I'm beginning work on a KH2 Proud Mode run with some decent progress. and will eventually go to MegaMari and maybe RE:Chain of Memories.

Hey, i'm Steven Brown (lol generic name ftw), and I go by ingx24 in most circles. I really got into competitive gaming back in 2006 when I saw Saturn's reverse boss order TAS WIPs (which I thought were done in real time), but I didn't really do anything significant until I got into Star Fox 64 highscoring in late 2007. I spent about 2 years playing no other game than SF64, until me and zallard1 (among other people) destroyed the world records beyond any feasible improvement. From there, I got into speedrunning Zelda games, and am currently working on an any% single segment run of Majora's Mask.

I'm 15 years old (will be 16 in February), and am pretty socially awkward with pretty bad anger issues (people in IRC channels I frequent know this all too well :P), but I still manage to get by and improve myself as a person as time goes on. I always stream my speed run attempts, so stop by every once in a while if you're interested in seeing some of my patented "ing rage" Tongue
D:
I'm Greg.  In 2008, someone jokingly told me that I should speedrun EarthBound.  I took them more seriously than I should have and ended up here.  After EarthBound, I have continued with a focus on old console RPGs because I don't have the dexterity for anything else.  I've been working on a Breath of Fire run for a couple years now, but progress has been kinda slow.  I am looking forward to eventually finishing that so I can work through the stack of other games that I've picked up in the meantime.

I'll be there in 2012 for another marathon that I think will be so much fun has been one of 2011 I have not had the chance to be able to watch live the 2010 and I am sorry because I do 've known before.

I have no experience in speedrun because I've never done, but it is you who gave me want to try this adventure.

I start doing a little speedrun SMBoy I buy a joystick to play on my computer and try to do a speedrun on super mario bros on nintendo
