Hello, I'm glad to finally register. Took time following this page, I have several posts on it and it was time to be part of the community.
"Fists will fly at this location!"
Hi, my name is Belko. I've been on and off SDA for almost 2 years now. I got into speedrunning because 2 years ago, on Christmas Eve, I lost my home in a house fire, and it helped me ease my mind during such a dark part of my life. I started blasting through the Resident Evil games, but I haven't really promoted my times. I'm a big fan of horror in general, and I love strategy RPG's and fighting games. I actually plan on doing runs for Onimusha, Dead Space and Disgaea. I'm what I like to call myself, an "omnigamer." I also play Street Fighter a lot, as well as Mortal Kombat.I enjoy everything. Smiley
I'm not sure if I've introduced myself here before.

I'm Eddalius, most know me as Ed, Edd or Edda... I'm rather active on Twitch.tv and a lot of people know me through how annoying I can be in some chats (Not just that, I have decent knowledge of some games and am known for my love of The Last Remnant). Cheesy
I play a lot of games, but right now I'm working on practising Digimon World and I'm going to be routing The Last Remnant soon.

Also, Mike totally hates me Cheesy

Stopping by to say, Welcome to SDA everyone, it's always fun to see the community growing more and more and it's always enjoyable to read them!!!
Totally rad
Oh, welcome, Eddalius. Nice to see you've signed up.
Hi I'm Saph32. I'm a long time lurker since about 2003. I have been watching a lot of videos on this site. I'm also subscribed to lot of TwitchTV channels.

I decided to register because I finally have an idea for a speedrun which I will be posting soon.
Hello, my name is Dan or Daniel I go by both. Just joined SDA today. I found this site by watching a Resident Evil 4 speed run. I haven't been speed running for very long but I'm a bit of a perfectionist so I've been having a lot of fun speed running games. Right now I'm in the middle of making a multi-segmented run for Resident Evil 4. I'm also planning on speed running Gotcha Force and Super Paper Mario. I've been playing games my entire life(no joke I have a picture of me playing the SNES in dippers). I've won some video game tournaments for multiplayer games before so I really love competition and pushing myself. Anyway I guess that's it or at least everything I can thing about writing down right now.
Finally got around to joining SDA. I've been interested in running a few games for the longest time, but I've never really gone the lengths to do so. No better place to start than here! People call me Pix or Pixel, just for ease, but I'll wait to try and make a name for myself before worrying about silly titles. Good to be here!
Hello everybody! M'name's Justin, 21, going mostly as JuYoung101 on the 'nets. My first introduction to SDA was from Brossentia, during AGDQ 2011, checking on how long it was until Essentia's run. Later that year, I was able to stop by SGDQ 2011 for a few hours on my birthday (yey). I had determined that Super Mario 64 is my favorite game and Speedrunners were much cooler than I had expected. (No offence, but the name did sound pretty nerdy. heh.) Since then I've been aware of the community and forums. Wouldn't quite say lurking, but more like checking the front page and browsing some of the runs on occasion.

Recently, I've been thinking of a handful of games I'd like to attempt running, and making frequent trips with Brossentia to Fun Unlimited here in Logan to poke through tons of games. Hey You Pikachu! and the rerelease of ICO on PS3 are pretty high on the list. Maybe if I take some time, a run might be in the making (read: future planning).
I'm currently working towards a BA in Computer Science a Utah State University, with a minor in Japanese. A combination that could be potentially prolific to SDA. Between class and work for the university, most of my free time has just been working on projects** or assignments, or general relaxation.

Growing up, I wasn't really keen on new games, but chose to play mostly games that had already been out for a few years. Not NES old, but that was an option too. I'd sit there playing Spyro, OoT, Genesis DOOM, Sonic(s), KH, Animal Crossing for hundreds of hours just probing the boundaries and programming of the games on a whim. Sadly, that was a while ago and none of the info was retained. Undecided

Anyway, it's getting pretty late and this is getting pretty tangential. It's nice to officially join SDA and have a chance to study the culture, too. Looking forward to collaborating with some of you on run planning soon! Grin

**(Speaking of projects, heh, I'm working on one right now about SDA that I'll shamelessly plug over here: http://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/survey_for_sda_forum_members.html )

Welcome Justin, you finally sign up, nice!!!

I personally think your thread on survey was a great idea, it's always fun to know people a little better every time!!!

Welcome to SDA everyone!!!

Ok so I finally registered for this site after a long time of being pulled away by school and everything else under the sun.

But Hi, I'm Sean (aka Greenk4) I just graduated college with an associates in Computer Sciences and I'm currently working towards an A+ certification (slowly lol). as for gaming I've been doing that since 2 years old with my NES and Sesame Street Educational games and going from there lol. (Though I was VERY late to the PS1/PS2 era I will say) Originally I stuck around mainly with the FGC and then after awhile I noticed how dronish they can be at times so I backed away from it and I stumbled upon Funkdoc's stream a few days before Kings of Poverty (I believe Sp00ky tweeted about the stream). And I watched it and enjoyed myself and saw how chill everyone was. Then the real kicker for me was Funkdoc's WR of Haunted Castle, seeing that pushed me all the way to get into speed running.

My current goals are Splatterhouse 1, Gungrave and maybe even Gungrave Overdose (it all depends) but other projects I have are: Biohazard Gaiden, Castlevania Rebirth, every other Splatterhouse (2, 3, 2010 and Wanpaku Graffiti) and Haunted Castle Type M (hardest version). I feel like I'm forgettign stuff but its ok lol

Sandython will be my big marathon debut with a Splatterhouse 1 race with Funkdoc as well as doing a run of Gungrave (Hopefully improving my personal best again with a no death run) and various bonus stream games. I'm hoping to make some future entertainment for runners and viewers alike in the coming years be it an urn or just hilarious moments with casual streaming or run attempts

After watching countless runs, many marathons and streams, failing at making a TAS and getting bored of Pandemonium and SotN practice I decided to finally register here and make a real run. I kinda always wanted to start speedrunning, but I couldn't find a game for myself. I'll start with Urban Chaos, nobody bothered to run it. Unfortunately my upload speed doesn't allow me to stream. And my English can be really rusty sometimes, so sorry for that.
Hi, My name is nick, but please call me Qkombur or something like that. I like mathematics and attend on working in defense contract related type jazz in the near future.
As for speed runs? I love this kind of stuff, beforehand I normally just watched streams and thought to myself "oh sweet jesus what have you done to my childhood".
Now I look at it as a science of breaking down games to it's core.
Manipulating the inherit rules of the game to create incredibly clever methods of beating the game as efficient as possible.
So yeah, that's me. I intend on learning the tricks and routes of whatever game I latch on to (Most likely a Zelda game.) and hopefully reaching a point where I can than submit some runs. Competition is fun,
The best defense is invincibility.
Yo.

I am Vandaeron, watcher extraordinaire.  I love watching speedruns and attempts, to learn how bugs and glitches in games get discovered and exploited.  I am a forthcoming game developer, though I have no clue how long it'll take me to actually finish anything.  The perspective of the speedrunner as well as the perspective of the casual gamer are important to my development direction, so understanding both is paramount.

Anyhow, I'm just gonna hang out.  Hi.
Is PJ
Just stopping by to say hi to all the new members!  Cheesy
Hey, SDA forums. I've been watching various runners for a while now, finally decided to make an account on here as I plan to start running some games soon, myself. I've done one run of Super Paper Mario, and I've been working on Sticker Star since a few days after it came out. Can't wait to get more involved with the community. Smiley
Hey guys,
I am Seabass.  I am a new streamer who is looking to learn to speedrun some games.  I am starting with the old Marios, since I don't think they require SUPER long times of playing.  Anyone have any suggestions of a good (shortish) game to start speed running on the NES or SNES?

Hope to be here for a while (even though I am casually speed running), I think it's to fun not to try Smiley

Thanks all, and again, hello!
I feel it's high time I stopped lurking around like a bad smell and actually register here!

I tend to go by Vortale, as my real name is terrible. I've been into speedrunning for a fair number of years but only as a watcher. Attempts were made to run Sonic 2 but I wasn't all that great at it. I had too much work and very little time to practice.
I was cluttered with work for about a year, but when I got University out of the way and had more free time I began to stream regularly on twitch, only doing casual playthroughs with friends. I then caught wind of AGDQ 2012 and was inspired by the amount of undiluted awesome the marathon contained. It reminded me that I love speedrunning - watching and playing - and I should probably get back to running a game and taking part in the community when my work is completely clear. So that's how I started!

I currently run Jazz Jackrabbit 1 & 2, as they were old favourites of mine that no-one else seems to run at the moment (so I might hold records for both games lol). I'm also currently planning routes and strats for Borderlands 2 and Rayman 1 (PC version) and I will most likely be adding more games as time goes on. I've been eyeing up the Commander Keen games and Xargon. DOS and Windows games are my main bag, as I grew up as mainly a PC gamer.

Other than that, I'm here to have fun, take part and meet folk!
I'm addeheed1! I speedrun Zelda: A Link to the Past. I'm currently learning Zelda 2 and OoT, which will be hard.
I've been speedrunning since late April this year, been streaming since then too.
I have clicked around alot on SDA forums but i've never registered until now, but i felt like it today so i did it Smiley
Nothing much more to say right now.
Hope to meet alot of nice people Smiley
Well.
Hi! My (online) name is Mar. However this name is often already taken, so that explains the HeartOfMar. Thats an obtainable item in Jak 2, for those who dont knwo.

I got into speedrunning... Well... That just happend Cheesy

I currently run Narnia: The Witch, The Lion and the Wardrobe (Any%) and Eragon (Any%), both for the PS2. Unfortunately its PAL, but... that doesn't matter for me. Especielly there are no other runners, as far as I know...
For both games my best time at the moment is at about 2 hours, but I am confident that this time will get lower.
My very first speedrun was of Call of Duty 2, Russians Campaign with the restriction to only use pistols (segmented). That was somewhat funny to do Cheesy
And i did a speedrun of Settlers: Hesitage of Kings, segmented. I already spent hours for that one and still it isnt finished. Time for that would be at about eight and a half hours...

Well. Thats pretty much about me. Lets have a fun time together!

Oh, and I should mention... I'm not a native english speaker. So if I make any mistakes, please be kind to me ^.^

hi everyone, I'm Arthur and I have been following SDA for a while now Smiley I have very recently tried to do some speed running on different games ( deus ex: human revolution, left for dead, and some levels in Super meat boy ^^ ) I like all kind of games from independent ones to mmorpg and FPS. I am 21 years old and currently studying financial engineering (sounds fancy but it's pretty much all maths and statistics). I am concentrating on Deus ex at the moment, trying to find the best way in each level but gooooooodddddd it takes time haha.

I do have to say that I prefer PCs over other gaming devices even though I do play relatively often on the Xbox 360.
Hey peoples, this is Jay I've been in and around this site for a while. Originally I was here following the Banjo Kazooie run and hoped to attempt a run myself but the competition got to hot so I've resorted to a more casual speedrunning approach. One game was Donkey Kong 64 where I wanted to sub 11 hours and got a 10:22 on my third attempt so a stopped there.

My current project is a rare game called Carmen Sandiego - the Secret of the Stolen Drums, bit of a mouthful but a game which I enjoyed a bunch and completed a few times. I've halted this project for 2 years but I'm off school now so no more homework to interrupt (:
Hi guys, I'm Andy. I'm relatively new to the speedrunning community (on and off since March or so) and I've had lots of fun with it. I've been meaning to get more involved with SDA and stuff like that.
I haven't gotten into too many games yet, but I will once my living situation gets a bit better Tongue
I currently run A Link to the Past, RunMan: Race Around the World, and Super Meat Boy~
I'm also hoping to go to AGDQ and have fun with that as well, since I live in Maryland.
Other than that I'm a 22 year old who loves sports and stuff like that Smiley
