Yar, I'm Drakon!

I've watched AGDQ '11 and '12, the SGDQ '12, and JRDQ. I've watched this site since 2006-ish, but I'm finally stepping out of the shadows now that I've something I want to run.
Hi!!  I'm VforExtreme (But you can just call me V).

I've been watching speedruns for about 8 years now and I've been casually speedrunning ever since not knowing about half of the advanced techs I've been seeing in the actual speedruns.  I watched AGDQ earlier this year and was absolutely amazed at what I saw!!  Needless to say, it inspired me. Grin

Hey everyone!

My name's Serah! IRL I'm a 22 year old PhD student at Cal, but I'm a big game junkie on the side. I've been a big fan of speedrunning (especiall SGDQ) and TASes, but I'm just starting to get into actually producing runs myself. I'd like to put together a Cave Story run - it's always been a favorite of mine and even though SDA doesn't take freeware games I thought it'd be a fun thing to do casually!

Good to meet you all! =D

SDA does take freeware games actually! Good luck with your run.

I love speedruns!
Hi, I'm Hetsig :). I'm a Swedish guy from a low population town called "Säffle" :). I've been "obsessed" by speedruns since i was 9 years old (24 now). I'm "suffering" from ADD/ADHD, Asperbers syndrome, Autism/tics and have issues with motor skills(?). It's hard for me to complete anything :/. I haven't done any speedruns more than Resident Evil 5. I want to do one for SDA but I'm not sure when (glitch-less and co-op). Need an PVR first :). Well...my first speedrun was on Devil May Cry on PS2, i taped it on a VCR back then ^_^. I've tried some TAS speedruns on Probotector 1 & 2 but i wasn't satisfied. TAS deletes the human error part (most of it anyways) and i want to see legit humans speedrun. It's sooo much funnier to watch.

The future i want is to see speedruns of games AND commentary of the player, too help others. I've heard some shit about Resident Evil 5 for instance. Like all the leaderboard players cover up the method they have to make the in-game time so low. I don't want that. The bugs should be viewable by anyone. Even if i do a speedrun of Resident Evil 5 i would, in NO way, hide my approach and / or the method to it. Every human is different. My capability might not be the best and i would WANT people to beat my record. That's the whole point! I would document EVERY step i take, so people like SDA can help me or others to make the in game time slimmer :). It's selfish to keep secrets. Speedruns ARE meant to be beaten in some way.

Who i am? Well, I'm an unemployed video gamer that loves speedruns due to the effort everyone gives into them. I mean, you can love a game, but to do a speedrun of it...that demands even more! When i started to watch speedruns i was amazed of the effort. You need to know the mechanics of the engine, glitches and more. It's amazing, in my eyes. The future i want is to help others in the quest to slim their times.

The only thing i can come up with is the 10+ hours single segment speedruns. I mean, if THAT doesn't show commitment, what do?

Maybe i shall write more of myself? What i love to do? I'm an video editing guy (more or less). I've been in the "scene" and quited that stuff along time ago and i bulked up with various encoding skills back then. I want to encode speedruns to insane quality. What more do i do? Hmm... I'm an Gamerscore junkie :). I want to help speed runners as much as i can.

I hope i didn't write too much, it's a habit i have :/. My ADD takes over and i write as hell. Too bad i didn't use it in school :).

Not much more to say. Hope you enjoyed reading and send me an PM if you want :).

Edit: I would want a partner on Resident Evil 5 that lives close to me (Sweden, due to ping and stuff) That can record our quest. I've beaten the game on 1h58m51s with an AI :))

Peace out!
Hetsig

so pro u don't even know
Just wanted to stop by and give a big welcome to all the new people joining SDA! It is nice when people make the effort to post something here about themselves and their story, I enjoy reading it. So thanks everyone and enjoy the community.
I'm everyone ! I'm mabru, french IIDX  and SF3 third strike player (mainly). I have created an account on speed demo archive because I am a big fan of speed runs and TAS.
I am a big fan of akumajo dracula XX (castlevania vampire's kiss in US), and I had never found any speedrun ! there is a  13min56 TAS but no speedrun. So I started to make my own speedrun of it and made a ~21 minutes one(It is not very good ...). Is there any speedrun of it ?
Hey there, don't mind me, just a sleepy 'ole tree who awoke from a-lurkin' to say 'ello. I click the buttons and play the games, with terrifying speed (for and old tree at least)! Farewell for now, maybe we will see each other soon?
Professional Shaq Fu Speedrunner
So I've posted a little on these forums already, but I probably ought to introduce myself. I'm JackintheBox333, the numbers being because Twitch didn't have my username open. The user name here is the same as my Twitch user name. I lurked on here before, but I was convinced to make an account when Mike Uyama mentioned me in his Earnest Evans thread. I've been a fan of speed runs for a number of years and have recently been trying to run Final Fight 2, because I have always been a huge fan of that game, despite its limitations. I've got the time down to 41:01, but I know I can get that time down lower. The game is just incredibly random on certain item drops and enemy behaviors. You all should go play Final Fight 2 right now. It's really fun.
Hello. I'm diddyknux, and I always have trouble thinking what to say in introductions like this. Tongue I've watched many runs on the site before, and though I don't have any concrete plans to run something, thought it'd be a good idea to at least put myself out there a bit. I have done casual runs of some Sonic, Metroid, and DKC games before, but nothing serious, and don't really have any idea what I'd like to try seriously running in the future, but we'll see, I guess.
Freeze! Proceed to be Awesome!

HELLO!
Noticed this part of the forums an d figure I'll say hello.

I'm Neil, I'm in northern Virginia (though only just moved here after 34 years in southern California).  I'd come across the site previously, just watching runs, but I only really got interested in the community after seeing a couple marathons, which then convinced me to try to to watch some streams.  Being able to chat, and hear the thought processes and see how this stuff works, got me interested.  And once I tried *executing* a trick (Legend of Zelda screen scroll glitch), and not only tried it but learned how to do it, I was hooked.

You will in fact find me on Twitch as PresJPolk, which is just a default username of sorts for me.

Thanks to all my favorite runners, and everyone else who keeps helping me out around here.
Hi everyone! My name is Simon Viklund, I'm a guy from Sweden who has worked in the game biz as a music/sound effect guy for about 12 years now.

When I was a kid I played a lot of NES, and loved the unforgiving gameplay and the music of the games of that era. In 2008 I got to work on a dream project: Remaking Bionic Commando. I was the creative director and music "remixer" of Bionic Commando Rearmed. Since then, Capcom has hired me to remix several of the soundtracks of games that they've made remakes of. Right now I work for Overkill Software / Starbreeze Studios. I got a website over here: www.simonviklund.com

I'm gonna get involved in this charity live stream thing and provide some awesome prizes! Yiee-haah!

:O

I am pumped.  Welcome to SDA and thanks in advance for the awesome prizes.  Cheesy
Hiya, I don't know what to really say. (The unoriginal introduction)
I wanna speedrun many games. Dunno where to start really.
Waiting hurts my soul...

There's a speedrun tournament of sorts (not always about speed) coming up soon. Just look for a thread this weekend from Zyre about it. It's super casual, just play the game each week and see how good you do. Also, there's speedrunslive.com if you want to start racing games now. It's good practice and everyone in the chat channel is willing to help with how to run the games that are raced there. Welcome and have fun.
All games all the time!
Hello all! My name is sean but on EVERY online/gaming tag I have ever used, I go by Hammeredmantis, got that name back when Xbox live was just beginning and it was the random screenname that I got first try, kind of stuck with me ever since. I do runs on SRL but I also would really like to break into this community as well. Mainly play platformers like Cave Story, Metroid series and the like, but I am also a hardcore RPG and Strategy fan. Hope to make a name for myself on some game, I think I am going to focus in on either Secret of Mana or Secret of Evermore as I rarely if ever see those get played and I do love those games.
Hey everybody I'm Mikey! I'm not going to lie i used to think speed running was something awesome but also something that required inhuman skill ( not that it doesn't ) and thus was unattainable to me. This was all until my friend from highschool Caleb Hart got the world record in Megaman X. He went from plowing through X collection afterschool to being the guy on youtube whose skills i thought i could never match. I'll try to not be super corny here but it inspired not only me but our friend group to start looking at speed runs in the realm of possibility. So here I am looking to step up my game, make some new friends and most importantly have fun =).

Games I'm interested in?

Devil May Cry
Resident Evil
Castlevania
Demons souls
Metal Gear
Rpg's in general

And I've always had a soft spot for fighting games.
Hey folks.
Been on here for quite a while but never really introduced myself just went straight to the threads not really knowing anyone. My names Tom and my gamers name is Kadoom. The first run that got me into Speedrunning was an OoT few years back. I was quite amazed at how much of the game could be exploited after playing the game so much as a child.
I've done a few casual runs such as New super mario bros DS and currently playing through Metroid Fusion 100% even though Uni work doesn't let me play a variety of games anymore. As much as a nintendo freak i am i also play quite a few MMO's on the PC and anything i like the look of on steam.
A few favourite games i love to see run are the Zelda games (esp MM), Mario sunshine and any other games i used to play as a kid.

If i do end up making a time for 100% Metroid Fusion be sure to be on the lookout for it!!
Hello! I've recently taken a liking to speedrunning so I thought I would make an account here. I may start streaming in the future if I get good enough. Been practicing Yoshi's Island and Super Mario World just for fun, I highly doubt I will get good enough to beat the world records, but you never know haha. It's awesome to see such an active community centered around this.
Caution: This user contains Kana ^_^
I approve of your game choices =D Welcome everyone that hasn't been welcomed yet Wink
Hi My Name is Hero I known this website for about 2 years now and I didn't know much about channels only about that it had to do with having the fastest time in a game. I decided on making a account, because I got to know more about what SDA does and I watch many people doing Speedruns on games. I watched many people, from doing Super Mario 64, Final Fantasy and Sonic Games I really enjoyed them. So I now decided on doing speedruns, I mostly plan on doing RPGs, Like; Dragon Quest VIII, Sakura Wars and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, but I will be doing other then RPG games Like; Wario Ware Inc, Mario Games and more.
Hey all, I'm Rad. I'll just post a little bit here!

I've always wanted to do a speedrun, though I've never felt overly confident about running through anything, particularly as I like to take my time with my games, and my focus on them after completion has been about finding glitches and unseen areas/items instead of beating it in the fastest time (not to mention I actually despise timed challenges).

But the more I see other people complete their speedruns, the more I feel confident enough to try it myself. I'd like to eventually speed run some games on the old MegaDrive/Genesis, but until I have the right leads, I'll be sticking with PS2 and PC games.

So yeah. In short - Hi!
-_C0/VQU357_-
Hello!!!...I actually just did the photos of yourself side.  Are there any pretty ladies speedrunning?  i didnt see any in the picture section.
Hi there!

I've been watching runs on SDA since years, but only registered a few months ago to submit my Hitman 2 run.
I haven't introduced myself yet, so here I am!

I'm a 22 years old French student, loving games since the age of 3.
I always liked getting the best times/scores so when I discovered speedrunning I instantly wanted to start doing it.
Since I'm done with my normal Hitman 2 run, I'm planning to do a PRO/SA one, but I'm kind of busy right now so it may take a while.

There isn't much more to say except that I love SDA and will keep submitting some runs of the games I like the most, from time to time.
