Greetings everyone. Long time watcher that would like to become a part of the awesome community. Although I don't stream myself, I do play a lot of different games / systems so I will probably be tossing my name up as a verifier in the future hopefully. Also will probably see me alot on the trading forums in the near future since I get tons of older games through my line of work. Hopefully will get to meet and talk with some of you all soon

No longer a threat to society
Hi. I'm knumpify, but lazy people call me knumpy (pronounced NUM-peh-fy and NUM-pee respectively.) I've been kinda in the shadows on this site for quite a while. I started watching the speedruns on the site a little over 2 years ago and eventually found my way to the forums. I was mostly inactive here for a while before seeing a game I loved looking for verifiers (spanky's quest. It was an epic run BTW) and jumped in. This is when a massive shift happened in my life, leaving me without virtually no access to my laptop and my consoles. I plan to start up again in the community now that the dust has settled. As for running myself, I speedrun mostly on the NES and the WII systems, but play on the xbox 360 as well. Usually I just run casually, but occasionally I go serious with a game. I was planning out an Okami run on the WII when everything was turned upside down. That run is now on hold indefinitely. Sorry to the few people who were giving tips for it. Thanks for the support. Part of the reason I think this community is great is how supportive people are. Hope to be able to stay on here longer.
Hey there SDA. Just joined. Im 27, male, from Boston, MA. I got to tell ya i had no idea this world existed. I thought i was one of like a handful of ppl who beat games  as quick as possible. Im amazed. Play a lot of FPS, mostly Halo 3 and reach and play a lot of survial horror and final fantsy. Im ecstatic to start running some games and send them in, My RE2 times are damn close to what is on here as the record but that guy is fast.(if your reading this bro, MAJOR PROPS) I see no Parasite Eve 2 so im gonna look into that. Im gonna go hit some other threads now..Great site SDA crew.
Hey all,

I've been watching the runs on the site for a while now, but having watched both marathons I figured I would finally get involved with the site.

I'm a student at the University of Birmingham in the UK, studying Computer Science (well I use the term study very loosely), as studying seems to come last in a long list of other activities that take up the majority of my time...

I'm currently working on a Disgaea 2 (PS2 version) any% segmented run and my first test run ended up at 6:25 (according to the in-game clock), noting this still has a lot of room for improvement (I hope to start a thread on it at some point soon).  Beyond this I also want to look at some of the other Nippon Ichi games as well as taking up of the mantle to actually run Illusion of Gaia (or in my case Illusion of Time) and lastly Steambot Chronicles, which really leads itself to being speed run as most of the game consists of optional side quests.

Massive EDIT, to make the intro a little easier to bear:

Hello, everyone!

First, my real name is Joe Mundell (pronounced like "mon" as in "money" and "dell" as in... a certain computer company; sorry it's just that a lot of people have pronounced my last name wrong on marathons and such when I donate)

Enable age in appearance to see how old I am. As for what I'm interested in running, I plan on maining the "Back to the Future: The Game" series (all 5 Episodes), with getting up to speed in the metagames of Diddy Kong Racing, Mario 64 and Zelda OoT. I know I'm starting with something easy, but it gives me something to work on while working up to the more challenging runs.

See ya around!

Already mistakes are being made lol.

I'll put it this way: I'll respond to either BlueStar810 or BlueStarReturns, but would prefer to be referred to as the latter, since that's who everyone , elsewhere , knows me as. Also, I will never refer to myself as the former, so please don't correct me when I use the latter name. thumbsup

Please do not read it as that when I donate at future marathons. I hate people using my full name, but I can't change it on the card, since it has to be my legal name).

Now, the confusing bit is I prefer to go by BlueStarReturns. That has been my online handle for the last three years. However, when I registered this account back in '08, I was still going by BlueStar810 on certain froums. Since it's impossible to have my Username changed, I'm stuck with it. So, please try and remember that when referring to me or posts that I make. I won't flip out if you call me BlueStar810 or anything. I'll just politely remind you that I've dropped that handle and prefer to go by BlueStarReturns or BSR, for short.

Anyways, this post's getting pretty long, so I'll just do a quick about me:

Enable age in appearance to see how old I am. As for what I'm interested in running, I mainly would like to try improving the Diddy Kong Racing record, as well as possibly the Mario 64 120-Star record (I know Jiano's working on it, but who says only one person can attempt for it?). I'm also planning an online review show with one of my real life friends, a la Nostalgia Critic style, but that's a different story.

See ya around!

Can you not change your name in your profile?
You could on SMF, not in Taiga.

Oh ok, well I can change it for you if you want.  Thanks for the info Paraxade!

That would be nice, actually. The only problem is that I have an alternate account with the updated username, so that would have to be deleted first, right? I don't use that one anymore, so could that one be deleted and then have this one be changed to my current preference?

EDIT: Thanks, Flip!

To make a long story short, my name had been BlueStar810 way back in '06 on GameFAQs. When I deleted my account there, I decided to come back and chose the new name "BlueStarReturns" so people would remember who I had been before. And, from there, it's just stuck with me these past three years.

But, with thanks to Flip again, the name has finally been changed, so there shouldn't be anymore confusion. thumbsup

To those who don't know me already.

I'm a bad gamer who lives in the UK and am 15 years old. I still try to run, at least. >.>
Hello, everyone.
Been enjoying the fine runs on this site for over a year. I'm 20 years old, I study chemistry and I enjoy playing games. My favourite ones are really complex games, which deserve to be called an artwork, and good games on old consoles (using the resources of them to this extent I also call an art).

Most of all I enjoyed the run on "American McGee's Alice" - it's really magnificent.
Hello there.
I'm also a long-time-watcher of SDA's speedruns and finally decided to register myself here. I mostly enjoyed the runs of the Final Fantasy and Resident Evil series. I haven't done a speedrun yet, but right now, i'm trying to improve the Soul Reaver speedrun i've seen here.
When not playing games, i am studying maths and physics somewhere in Germany and besides, i'm also interested in astronomy.
Well, i'm not a great speech holder, so let's leave it for the moment Smiley .

So far and happy running
Cid
Hello,
I'm interested in speedruns for a long time and I decided to register on SDA, because I like the runs on this site very much and want to become part of this community. I'm recntly very interested in live-streams and marathon-runs, because I like the commentary.

hello

I am TrUShade or Shade whichever you prefer.

I started watching you guys after UltraJman started posting his speedruns. It is very awesome to see what you guys can do with the games, that I have now wanted to try and do some speedruns too.

Good to see you back on SDA! Any news on whether your IWBTG run has been accepted or rejected (it's been a while since I checked the topic, so I don't remember the details very well)?

Hi!

I've lurked the site and forums for at least 8 years, in addition to TAS videos.  Now I'm all growed up, but I find myself as interested in this sort of thing as ever.

The only games that I've devoted a reasonable amount of time for speed running are Super Metroid and Mega Man 10, but in general I play all varieties platformers, RPGs, FPSs, and puzzle games.  When MM10 launched I became obsessed with finding techniques and Time Attacking it (I'm russguy on the Wii, duckfist on the 360), but fell out of the loop after two months or so.  I think after catching a lot of Awesome Games Done quick, I wished to see a live MM10 run, so I started practicing for it again on the Wii.

I still enjoy watching people attempt new things in these classic games, and discussing frame-saving minutiae is still a geeky guilty pleasure of mine.  Stay awesome, SDA.
Hello my name is william. I have enjoyed watching the streams and speed runs so my friend darkness got me to join the site . I am currently playing zelda link to the past, final fantasy 6 and 11 atm. I am not the best player in the world but i do enjoy the games.
