Hello. My name is Dylan and I've been coming to this site for about three years, but I was never motivated enough to join until now. I originally became intrigued by speedrunning when I stumbled onto Metroid2002 a few years back and was impressed with all of the techniques and tricks showcased there. Ever since then, I've done casual speedruns of the Metroid series on a pretty routine basis and have just been extremely interested in the art of speedrunning in general.
I'm actually in the process of completing and recording a speedrun of P.N.03 using a completely new save file that I hope to submit to the site some time in the next few months.
I'm thwak and I joined up because I thought the community looked cool and I enjoyed the marathon stream. Because of that stream I'm actually planning a couple runs for games no one else wants to do (basically strategy games that are easily exploitable, I plan to make the games look like nothing more than menu management).
So hopefully I'll get around to doing them, and if not I have this account.
´ello! Just another game nerd from Sweden who decided to join the forum and meet awesome people with the same hobby as me. Followed your marathon and it was, to quote Sonic, "Way past cool!". ^¬^
Obikashi is the name, been a long time fan of the Speed-Run scene, never actually posted one but i hope that will change as im hoping to be making my debut in dead space 2 if i can grab a decent capture unit
And with that i bid you greetings from the United Kingdom
My name's Will, and I'm another long-time listener/first-time caller (so to speak) that finally decided to put some spare time to use by trying my hand at speed running. I'm probably going to aim for some of the neglected Game Boy classics first, since that was the system I grew up owning for a number of years. Still waiting for my GBP to ship, and I have plenty to learn about the A/V side of things, but I've already put in a fair bit of work on the gameplay side of things so that I hopefully can be up and contributing sometime soon.
I go by Grey, been a long time follower of SDA, decided to get on the forums after this year's AGDQ marathon. Hoping to work on a few runs myself, I certainly enjoy seeing how games can get hammered down to nothing.
My name is Nick, known about SDA for about 2 years but never bothered to register. I'm not bad nor great at speed running so I'm hoping I'll submit a run someday. I enjoy playing Zelda Oot and MM, Pokemon, Golden Sun, Mario, Shooters, and lots lots more. I hope to have lots of fun with you guys, it would be a new experience.
Continuing what seems to be the general trend, yet ANOTHER person who has watched SDA stuff for a long time (since about 2005, actually, I think), but is only now getting around to registering. My favorite genres are RPGs, Zelda-ish adventure-type games, and platformers. I don't know how great of a speed runner I would be myself, but I hope I can contribute in some other ways, like with ideas for planning or helping out with some verifications.
Hey there, I became enthralled with speed running after watching Red Scarlet do the 55mins Super Metroid run. The recent marathon got me interested enough to register. Hopefully I can find enough help here to help me get a sub 1 hour 100% run on Super Metroid.
I usually go by gustaff, but it always seems to be taken on everything. My real name is Josh. I am 22, a college student, and I finally got an account during the last marathon, so about a month ago, and I have been watching videos from SDA for a good number of years now! I have a few hobbies, aside from video games, I am a photographer, ballroom dancer, college student, and fiance. There are a few games I am quick at, such as Banjo-Kazooie, and Super Mario Bros. 2. With BK, I am nowhere close to a record, however with SMB2, I have played that game since I was first playing games. I would go to my grandparents house and spend the whole day playing through it (I was well under 10 at the time). When the record was still around 10 minutes on SDA, I recorded myself doing an 11min 45 sec run. I was very excited that I did so well, and the run was improved. I didn't worry about it too much, and just recently picked it up again. I am able to get the majority of the tricks and would love to get everything down.
I think I enjoy playing the classics the best, but the vast majority of games are fun. I am going to make SDA my homepage and try to post more!
I don't know how great of a speed runner I would be myself, but I hope I can contribute in some other ways, like with ideas for planning or helping out with some verifications.
I'd actually like to stress this point. Everyone who has posted in this thread, but especially those who were already familiar with SDA beforehand, should have no hesitation in putting their hand up for verification for games they know. You'll be doing everyone a service by helping get more runs through the backlog quicker.
I've been coming to the site for many a year to watch runs and see all the talented speed runners share their abilities. I've been more active of late since I found out Josh the Funkdoc streamed his speed running attempts this past summer. I met josh playing fighting games and traveling to tournaments across the country which is what a lot of my gaming time and effort goes into. I've been a guilty gear player for almost 8 years but since it's practically dead as a game in the US i've decided to try my hand at speed running. I haven't dabbled in it for about 6 years, but i really like what this community has become, especially with the marathon. I can't promise amazing things, but my early intentions are to give a shot at making runs for Rescue Rangers on NES and Final Fight 3 on Snes. I am building a brand new desktop next week that im hoping to outfit with a good capture card and e become a part of the fun of streaming runs.
I'm on IRC and in the streams quite a bit since i'm self employed as an I.T. contractor so i'm pretty easy to catch and get ahold of. Looking forward to seeing what the year 2k11 has in store for SDA.
I've come here from time to time to watch some of the runs here, but finally decided to get an account after watching the awesome games done quick runs. I'm pretty good at most games, but I'm not really good enough at doing any speed runs without doing some extensive research, which I don't really have the time for. It doesn't help that the games I want to do are RPGs like Mother 3, FF9 and Mario RPG or are just too random like ToeJam and Earl. As for things I can do, I'm pretty good at drawing and would definitely contribute some of my work as prizes for the next charity event.
Hey guys, I've been lurking this site for about a year now and needless to say I'm quite impressed. I began speed running games a few years ago but I never took it to the extremes that you guys have. The most ridiculous run I've yet to see has to be Calvo's Duke Nukem 3d runs. I hope to be eventually putting up my own speed-runs to see how I compare with this amazing community.
Hi all, I've been a follower of SDA for some time now, but the most recent SDA marathon for cancer has really made me want to be a more active participant. I'm not all that experienced in speed running (love watching, wannabe playing) but I put in a fair bit of effort when I find the time. Right now I consider myself a casual speed runner at best, but the marathon has really inspired me to try and get something together or at least try and become a more active member here. Look forward to what the future holds.
Damn, I thought I was going to be one of the only ancient lurker/young poster variety. Way to prove me wrong, everyone!
Holydiver42 is my handle here (and if you can't figure out why, you should go flay yourself right now), but in the real world I go by Sam. I've been lurking on SDA since about 2003 (it's true!) after I discovered Bisqwit's NESVideos site (yeah, it was that long ago). I spent many an hour not studying for college watching TASes and human speedruns. About 15 months ago, I finally decided to register on the forums because of one of the SSS tournaments being put on during that time.
When not lurking here, I'll usually be thinking about tabletop RPGs or (sometimes) playing Champions Online, where my handle is the same as it is here. I think it's the best superhero MMORPG out there. Feel free to bother me there.
This is truly an awesome site. Perhaps one day I'll contribute to it. Keep up the excellent work, everyone!
G'day all, as seems to be the trend, I'm a long time viewer of the site (think I started lurking about 2006 or there abouts) and a first time poster. Figured I may as well get to talkin' to some of the other awesome folks of the community after the fantastic marathon that was done as I would love to help out for next year's run by possibly lending my technical expertise and resources as needed (and simply hanging out with a bunch of awesome people).
I'm not much of a speed runner myself, but I do enjoy a jaunt down glitch finding lane now and again just to see how much I can tear apart a programming department's hard work.
Umm... Not really sure what else to say, so I'll shut up and lurk for a while until I find something of interest to post.

Hey ya! Names Michael. I've been doing level speedruns in Sonic game for a while now but I want to actually try a full game speedrun for once. I've been thinking of Sonic Unleashed HD just for the fact I blew through it while helping my friend recover his lost achievements.
Hey guys, I am Caleb Hart. I am a chef, and like to speed run Mega Man X games, and soon a Super Metroid speed run. I am into body building as well. Hopefully I will get a couple vids up soon, and I would like to start live streaming.
