Hello, i'm Zrightning

I found SDA through AGDQ this winter and got introduced to the magical world of speedrunning. I am a huge fan of the early PSX games/Nintendo games, but i play a lot of other games aswell. I have done some runs of some games (Yu-Gi-Oh forbidden memories/pokémon) but they weren't really what i'd like to speedrun often. However i came across a few games i will start speedrunning, because they both hold a huge amount of nostalgia and there seems to be a lack of runners for them.

Besides that i'm also streaming Dragon Age Origins (and Awakening when Origins is finished). I'm also thinking of streaming a nuzlocke challenge for pokémon alongside any speedrunning that i'll try to do
We got this man.
Greetings everyone, names Dillon. I have only gotten into speed running recently after stumbling upon a random Cosmo video and I was immediately hooked. SGDQ was awesome. Being a big fan of the Resident Evil series I've decided to run em! I'm focusing on Resident Evil 2 at the moment but I will be expanding onto more and more RE goodness. Great community, glad to be here.
Hi my name is Spinnerx49 and I have been following SDA for about 6 months now and it seems pretty interesting.  I like to SpeedRun Top Gear 2 for the SNES, and I beat the TAS time by like 30 seconds.
Ohai everyone, DurMan here.  I watched AGDQ 2013 after the fact and loved it, and caught as much of SGDQ 2013 I could.  Though I don't game nearly so much as I used to,  watching these marathons is making me want to try running a few games myself.  Currently my sights are set on Alfred Chicken, LBP2, and perhaps Surgeon Simulator 2013.  So far as I've seen, everyone here are the hoopiest froods on the planet, and I'm happy to be here!
BowTieBroseph
Hello everybody! I am BowTieBroseph but my real name is Tyler. I've been a long time watcher of speedruns, and I even briefly tried to speedrun some games at a somewhat young age. I got very inspired by all the speedrun marathons I've been watching and I though "What the heck? Lets speedrun something!". I'm currently planning a Super Mario Sunshine Any% Run, but I do hope to speedrun other games in the future. Enough about speedrunning, let me talk about myself. I'm a hardcore gamer (been playing video games since I was 4) and I play mostly on home consoles, but only because I don't yet own a PC that can run many games. I currently own a Wii U and a PS3, along with some older consoles such as NES, SNES, and N64. My favorite game series of all time is The Legend of Zelda, but my favorite game of all time is Super Mario Sunshine because it was the very first console game I played. I'm close to graduating High School and I plan to go on to University for a Degree in some form of Science. I'm pretty well versed in Video Editing and I've even helped design a website for my High School. I hope to be much more prominent on this forum in the future and I greatly hope to produce some very well made Speedruns soon!

Longtime viewer here! My name is Mike, I'm from Boston. I know a few of you from other messageboards (Emptyeye, Zoast, Kareshi from The Shizz [where my username is Mike456. are there more of you on here?]), and those who I don't really know, I've most likely been in many of y'alls streams before. Loved me some past marathons, but after the infectuous good vibes from SGDQ I knew I had to sign up here and talk games with everyone.

Really hoping to make it to AGDQ 2013, I'm going to start saving up ASAP! I've been racking my brain over games I want to start speedrunning, I'm sure my new job at a classic game store will be plenty helpful Smiley

Hi Everyone,

I'm Paperboat. I started watching speedruns with AGDQ 2013 and have been fascinated ever since. My main focus has been multiplayer games, starting with WoW arena/pvp and then moving on to StarCraft II where I spend almost all my time these days. Anything involving competition and playing games really well I find really really interesting and perhaps one day when I relax my StarCraft commitment, I will actually stop just watching speedruns and try my hand at a few.
AGDQ Is almost here! <3
Hello, Im wondrwaffle. Ive been watching speedruns for almost two years now. I'm trying to learn some games now.. I've been playing VVVVVV and was wondering if there was any other easyish games so I can start to pick up games, then maybe click on some others. any suggestions?

Just joined SDA, started playing around with speed running SMW Any % after watching SGDQ 2013 and even toying with speed running Machinarium. Would love to be able to run something at a GDQ one day, and if not that, I'd love to just help out somehow.

Just saying hi!

Check out my twitch channel if you're bored. http://www.twitch.tv/binarynova
Prinny, dood!
Hello all, I'm Zyrlin (pronounced Zi-er-lin, not Merlin with a Z instead) I go by either AnkuGetsu, Z, and my real name Chip. I've fairly new to speedrunning catching maybe 2 speed runs before SGDQ, after SGDQ I got hooked. As of right now I'm practicing on my own time since I don't have a good computer to stream effectively. So until I can get a new computer I will be watching other peoples streams.

Once I get a new computer and can start streaming at a good quality, I will be speedrunning, most likely casual unless I really want to get into it, mostly RPG games, and some games I enjoyed like the Saints Row franchise, if possible anyways.
Hey guys, I'm Danse.

I got interested in speed running a few months ago when I randomly stumbled upon a youtube video of Cosmo doing the any% OoT run at AGDQ 2013. It completely blew my mind.

I've been into eSports for about 6 months now, mainly because of Dota 2, so I was use to the idea of people being extremely good at games and pouring hours into them every day to master them. But I always assumed that mostly people on did that with games strictly created for that sort of competitive atmosphere - things like Starcraft 2 or Counter Strike. It didn't occur to me that someone could be really really pro at a game like Ocarina of Time or Super Metroid.

The run inspired me to play Ocarina again the whole way through casually, and I had a blast with it. I didn't mess around much with glitches or anything, but I just had a new appreciation for the game that made it even more enjoyable than it was before. I started playing Majora's Mask and messed around with some sequence skips and glitches in that, and it was really cool.

For now, speed running has mainly just got me into play some of my old favorites, and classics I missed, of GC/N64/SNES games. I think I'll continue checking out some of the great streams and races and eventually pick a game to start practicing with.

Hello everyone i'm Rochester, you can call me roche as well ( my real name is Autumn ) and i'm from the US. Iv'e been lurking the speedrunning scene for over a year now, and have watched and enjoyed many streams and marathons. Now i'm set on running hotline miami, since I have been practicing for a long time. I would love to race with alot of people. Iam also intrested in running SH:downpour and lollipop chainsaw as well. When I get a capture card for my ps3 and vita I will be streaming.
Hello everyone!  I am Cloud.  I have been a bit of a lurker in the SDA and SRL communities for a while and thought I would just pop in and say hello.  I have been a big fan of speedrunning for a few years now.  It all started when I disovered Justin.tv right before Twitch became a thing.  I would watch Jiano speedrun Super Mario 64 and I would watch him every time he streamed.  What speedrunners do is so awesome and just so great to watch.  I still remember the day I figured out that OOT could be beaten in a bit over 20 minutes, and at that moment watching speedruns became somewhat of an obsession.  I am in the process of practicing OOT and some miscellaneous games.  I really hope in the future I get good enough that I could stand at least close to equal with some of the amazing people on this site and in the SRL community as well.  I have loads of respect for all of you.

Hello everyone,

Just found out about this community and so happy i did. been semi-interested in speedruns for awhile. i have been a gamer since i can remember, and have decided to join the forums and everything!.

I always wanted to join in on speed running but never really knew where to go about starting, I used to think about megaman X but after watching the AGDQ 2013 video of it i'm not sure if there is much more innovation or speed to come from it.

I might go for something along the lines of Super Mario RPG, but i only own the original NA release snes version. My favorite games are the older RPGS ( FF3(6), Chrono Trigger, Lufia 2) but they seems like tedious games to speed run.

Hope to get alot of insight on what i should try and do and see more awesome speed runs from this community!

For whatever i end up speed running i'm thinking i prefer games that you run without abusing crazy glitches to pass through levels or large parts of content (aka no Orcarina of time glitch..)
Hello SDA! Just thought i'd say hello to the community, i've been following SDA for over 8 years or so.
It is so great that the community has grown so big over the years.
I recently started speedrunning myself, instead of watching!
Mostly i play NES games, just because the NES is my favorite console of all time. Games i like to run ; Ninja Gaiden, DuckTales(getting close to WR), Chip&Dale, Cobra Triangle, Mario bros, Megaman x2, Castlevania.

I'm planning on learning: Zelda: A link To The Past, Because i thought that run on SGDQ was amazing!

But yeah that's it! I'm currently working on setting up a good stream at twitch.tv, So hope to see you guys at my stream sometime!

Sup everyone,

I'm Womps on SRL and WompsPM on Twitch. Been speedrunning for about 2 years now, but haven't really talked too much in the community at all. I mainly race Binding of Isaac on SRL and have started to finally start actually taking speed running seriously as a hobby. I was a former WoW raider in top 25 man guilds and 40 man guilds.

Hopefully there are other JSR runners to help with the process of learning better routes and finding glitches.
Hi everybody, my name is Rick but everyone just calls me Ed from my screen name. I have been watching speed runs for maybe 18 months or so. I am a very introverted so I'm usually just lurking in streams and don't say much. I have recently found my self with a lot more time so i can finally do some speed running of my own. I doubt i will be streaming much of what i do but I will try to be active and try to help anyone on any games i run.
Hi, this is Valoraxe. I have only recently gotten into the community after my sister (who's been following it for a good few months I think) posted me the F-Zero GX Story Mode speed run by yoshifan. Seeing the video, and the positive feedback, I am looking in to attempt beating yoshifan's time of 26 mins and 1 second on F-zero GX Very Hard.

But, not right now, there are still things I need to learn; about how to record, get to know the community, etc. The last thing I want to do is step onto people's toes!

Hello.
While I'm not new to speedrunning or streaming remotely, I figured it would still be appropriate to introduce myself as I am new to SDA Forums.
I run quite a few games now, and even more obscure ones.
Hope to run a game at a GDQ marathon.
Everyone's a cutie.
Hello Everyone,

finally i got it to registrate on the site. I'm watching SDA Speedruns since over 5 years now. It's allways fun to watch the guys streaming. The Highlights are definitly the Marathons wich I watched most of them. On the last SGDQ Stream they again encouraged me to join the community and be a part of it, so i m here now ;).

To me, i m Erik, 25 ys old from Germany. Most Times, i m playing Landstalker wich i played since my childhood and a couple of times over the years, because i had a lot of fun at it. I was able to get a first PB 2:29:14 now and trying to improve. I hope and can get into some nice discussions Wink
You can watch me Streaming at http://twitch.tv/strucki
I also play CS:GO and League of Legends for fun, but trying to stream more Speedrunning of course Wink

Shout out to Ratfunk, wich gave me very usefull tipps regarding Landstalker.

Kind Regards
Erik
Hi everyone, looking to run a few different games in the future and hopefully have one good enough to make the list!  I've watched the GDQ marathons past couple years and finally decided to make an account here.  Looking forward to meeting some cool people and attending a GDQ event in person one day! Happy running!

Hey everyone, Quinntendopower here

Had a lot of fun watching the 2013 SGDQ! This is my new EVO, so much fun to watch all of it. Congratulations to the runners and everyone behind the scenes to make it happen for charity.

I have so much respect for this style of play, but never really got into serious running myself. I would usually replay games and try to beat them as fast as I possibly could, RE4 and Ninja Gaiden on xbox come to mind, but never over obsessed or actively looked for glitches. Watching a lot of runs the past few weeks makes me really want to pick up a game and run it. My specialty is mashing buttons, I'm maxed at 19.8 taps a second which makes me lean towards running something like Prinny!, or an older shooting type game.

The hardest game I ever played was probably Ultimate Ghosts and Goblins on Ultimate mode, getting all the rings. I actually had to see a doctor after getting through that for anxiety issues.

I love playing and watching people play videogames. This generation has been ok for me, a technical mess that needs to end. There were a lot of fun games

I recently played the Last of Us, and was thinking that someday someone is going to TAS it! It's a funny concept to me that at some point people will be messing with current gen games on an emulator breaking them to pieces.

Anyways, look forward to hanging out in the forums and maybe getting to the D.C. event next time!
Games!
Hello!

My brother introduced me to SDA & SRL a while back and I've been quite interested in the whole speed running scene ever since! Smiley

My first project has been the Mega Man Battle Network (MMBN) series, which has really exploded over the past 2 months (going from 1 segmented run on SDA and a couple youtube videos, to a SS Any% run of all 6 entries and a couple of the spin offs). I've already met some cool people through SDA and love how welcoming and helpful the speed running community is.

Speaking of cool people on SDA, a few of us are putting on a MMBN series marathon August 16th: https://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/mega_man_battle_network_marathon__august_16th__17th.html

Hope to see some of you in chat!

Oh, and [A/S]GDQ 2013 were both amazing! Maybe we'll see some battle network games at the next ones Smiley

^That cute thing. Is Ceasar.
Hey everyone,

The marathons have gotten me intrested in speedrunning again. I used to speedrun Pokémon Red (And pokemon only) when i was young.

I like gaming very much, but most of the games i play are more competition based; Sports, Simulators and such so they aren't really speedrunnable (Most of them).
I am very impressed by the speedrunners and i have very much respect for the effort and time they put into the games.

I am planning to go and do Lufia 2 soon. I don't expect too much of myself, but hey if you don't start you'll never accomplish anything.

And thats pretty much my short story.

And if i can, i will be present at any GDQ in the future.

I wish you all the best and happy runs Smiley
How's it going everyone, My name is Fernando(aka maybq) and I'm looking forward to participate in this community, some videos of the AGDQ 2013 on the youtube brought me here, and made me become interested in speedrunning some games myself. I made up some research lately and I haven't found any speedruns community from Brazil, yes I'm a brazilian. I hope that I can contribute to the globalization of the community, I believe there are lots of great gammers from here that could also join our cause to the development of more speedruns and strats. I was wandering by the forum topics and saw an abandoned topic of translations some terms to portuguese language, maybe I could help that.

Best runs to all.
