Hey, my name's Aidan.
I've always been into gaming with some level of competitiveness, though never really committed to anything in that regard. Speedrunning seems like a nice community based on competition + friendliness which yeah, seems good (as opposed to the eSports end of that scale). Learned about here through ADDQ 2013 videos, and pretty excited about starting some runs.

Hi, my name is James.  I have played videogames for 24 years.  I make videogames (small, for PC only).  I am trying to speedrun Super Buster Bros, but the going is tough.  Eventually, I should be able to do it.
I am otherwise a computer/nuclear/electrical engineer. Smiley
Hello my name is Hank, and I'm 25 years old.  I've been watching Speed Runs for fun on twitch and am hoping to start speed running some games casually.  I plan on starting with Illusions of Gaia and working from there.  I'm mainly here to resolve some questions I have about speedrunning and possibly get myself involved in the community to some extent.  Looking forward to running Cheesy
from the old school
Hello fellow gamers, I am matt, I am 22 next week, I have been a game collecter since I was a boy, and have quite a bit of game consoles and games as of 2013. I came across this site while I was searching for old game collecter's/buyer's. I have a bunch of old games and consoles pluss a few newer things game wise I am trying to find a new home for, I also would love to meet some xbox live member's so I may have friends to tear the city's of GTA 4  and GTA 5 up with.
I guess I'm gonna do like everyone else. So, first, hey everyone ! I'm Venom, but you can call me Venom (wooh, what a surprise ! :O ), I'm 20 and I'm French ! I watch speedruns since 2 years now... Discovered it with a French show, and then saw the AGDQ Marathon with the French re-stream. I'm more of a PC Gamer, but I sometimes play console games (mainly old ones, but I sometimes play Xbox 360, when my PC can't launch a game). I try to speedrun various games, from Super Meat Boy (I'm so bad...) to Pokémon Red Fire (Bad isn't enough to describe how much of a d*** I am...), and I hope to get a proper full run one day (in like, 10-15 years !).

And, yeah, I decided to register for just no reason. I guess that's all for now ^-^

Hi, I'm a long time lurker/viewer, and after years of being amazed by the skills on display here I've finally decided to see if I can come up with something as well!

Now I just have to pick something out of my collection that I'm good at and then try to get even better... Smiley

Hello Everybody, I'm Dingodrole (Loïc), 22 years old and I'm a French Speedrunner !
I'm not a Veteran, I starded running 4 months ago with Super Meat Boy any% (actual PB 19:42).
Otherwise I speedrun Hotline Miami and Red Faction too.
Hope that my english isn't that bad, and thank's for reading this post Cheesy
Heh, amateurs...
Wow, the French have arrived! Welcome to SDA guys!
My name is BloodyRory and I've always been a fan of speed running. Never been able to love a game so much that I could memorize it, but I still loving watching others who can. Keep up the good work, you keep guys like me entertained!
I'm Hunter. 22. I have been a fan of the site for a long time, but just recently decided to join. I am currently doing a run of Megaman Battle Network with a current best time of 1:53. I have been a total ignoramus in my few days as a new member by accidentally double-posting my first thread, asking questions on the wrong thread, and frustrating admins with my ignorant questions and posts. However, I've learned a lot about technical stuff that I never considered to be so in-depth and meticulous ever since I have joined with hopes of submitting a run.

Protip to all new runners: Do what I didn't do, and consider the capture devices on the list in the KB. The one I had was restricted to only the software provided with it. When I tried to use it with anything else, it "worked", but it didn't let me optimize the settings. I'm selling it on Amazon now. Haha. I think I'm going to get a DVD recorder.

I love discussing philosophy and science, I love trying new beers, and I love making music (When I am motivated). You can find it here if you are interested:

Mike89's Sonic 2 run got me into watching speed runs. Watching all the old AGDQ vids on YouTube made me actually want to participate, and Megaman Battle Network 3 Blue is the best game ever made. *Fanboy status*
There is no dark side of the moon.
I am Jordan. I'm 16 and I found out about SDA a few years back. I've enjoyed all the marathons you people host which got me into actually running games.
At the moment I am playing Hotline Miami and got a time of 1:13! It was my first run so it's not too great. But I hope to improve over time and hopefully get a run submitted! thumbsup
Nice moves for a triangle.
Hello all my name is Chris, but my gamer/stage name is Wayvez pronounced (Waves). So how did I get this name? It started as my stage name in one of my first bands I was in. I'm a Bassist/Vocalist and anyone who knows what bass strings look like when strummed can put two and two together. The way I finger pick makes my strings form waves when slowed down. It's actually pretty cool to look at. I competed in a few Smash Melee tournaments and Original Poke'mon tournaments under this name. So it just stuck and I like it so yeah.

I've been watching SDA speedrunners for a couple of months now. So I decided that I would join the fun and start speedrunning. This will be my first full month as an SDA member. I play on running both absract and common NES and SNES games. For some of them I'll be going for World Records and others will just be casual runs. Some games I plan to run are: Metal Slug 2, Splatterhouse 2, Bonanza Brothers, Wave Race 64, Ogre Battle, Ogre Battle 64, Bravoman, Alien Soldier, Brawl Brothers, Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa, Ufouria: The Saga, and DoReMi Fantasy: Milon no Dokidoki Daibouken. I also plan on running Ninja Gaiden 1 & 2 for races. So looking at this list I've got a lot on my plate, but I'd rather be busy doing these games rather then doing nothing.

When I'm not playing Video Games I'm usually practicing my Bass Guitar. I've been playing for over 10 years now, and I'm very proud of that accomplishment. I've been through a couple of bands, and played a handful of shows paid and unpaid; mostly when I was in high school. There is so much that I could say, however I don't want to have some large post. Anymore you'd like to ask I'm open to answer any questions. Cheers fellow SDA Members.

Hello, my name is Daniel and I am 25 and from England. I found out about SDA from AGDQ 2013 (which i found completely randomly) and I have developed a crazy obsession with watching speed runs on youtube. Ever since my parents bought me and my brother a SNES one christmas I have been a complete nintendo nut. My favourite console has got to be the N64. I will be staying away from the Zeldas and Marios because I love those games too much to break them into little pieces. I just bought a brand new controller to start off my speed running and I am quite interested in running Mystical Ninja starring Goemon. I would love to be apart of an AGDQ in the future and meet all the great people in this community!

Hi there,

My name is Ed, but I think I've managed to watch nearly every single videos from the previous marathons, as well as a vast majority of the speedruns of my favourite games from the YouTube channel. I'm more of a new age console man (Don't hate me), but I love computer gaming, and watching speedruns of the games that infuriated me as a kid makes me laugh (At the programmers, mostly!)

I'm William Birkin, because i'm like Resident evil "old school" (1.2.3 and Veronica). I don't english thatwhy my english is bad. Sorry for that.
Innovator, not creator
I'm David, and I got into speedrunning during AGDQ 2013 and it was pretty cool. I really like Mafia II and primarily speedrun that. I'm looking for new games to do and summer is around so I have time to practice.
So I'm Sakako, and I've just joined SDA today! Officially, at least. I've been watching speedruns for about 3 or 4 years now, and after AGDQ '13, I got right into the mood. I've been practicing La-Mulana, but I feel as though I should probably take a break from learning the run (for now) and concentrate on things that aren't going to take 3 hours at a time. (I'm looking at you, Master Sword runs.)

At any rate, hi! It's a pleasure to meet you all.
Hi everyone !
I'm Rif-Raf, and I discovered SDA in 2005. I've been watching speedruns since beginning of year 2000 approx, but recently, I followed a french shootcaster called MisterMV who makes a fantastic job commenting speedruns, especially during the AGDQ 13'
Only recently, I wanted to "give it a try" myself on one of my favorite game: Super Punch out ! I'll probably continue with platform games, sur as PC Kid, Sonic 2 or Mario Bros.

Well then, looking forward to Summer Games done Quick Wink

Welcome, Birdman!  I have a lot of experience with Hyperzone and I can say with 100% certainty that the run on the site can be beaten even with a super sloppy playthrough.  He dies once (maybe twice?) and gets hit extremely frequently.  It's an incredibly easy run to beat.  I just couldn't bring myself to do it.  Good luck!
Hi. I have been watching stuff here for a many a year but AGDQ and SGDQ in 2011 got me completely hooked on the concept. People talking as the run goes on is what really gets me because the trivia and knowledge is just so very interesting.

You folks might know me from the Four Job Fiesta. It is not a speed run (and I do not think I have the time to speed run a long game like FF5) but I am slowly getting the itch to do something. I have been thinking about tackling Crystalis, although that might be too rough as my first one. I dunno! I want to learn something.
Hello! I've spent some time bumming around SRL but figured I'd introduce myself here as well. Currently getting into shape to race Ninja Gaiden on the NES and possibly MMX1 at some point.
