Hey guys! This is my first post here, and as the tittle says, I'd like to get some infos about rules (that I've already read):

I'd like to establish a world record on a PS2 game: Tony Hawk's American Wasteland.

I'm able to complete the whole classic mode in less than 12 minutes (any%), but it could be less or more depending on how my rules are accepted here. So I'm gonna list the things I do to proceed, and I'd like you guys to tell me if my run can be "officialized" (dunno if its english, sorry I'm french) the way I'm doing it:

- I use a real PAL PS2 with the original PAL game. Original PS2 pad.
- I use a saved character, but it is only done to make him have the tricks I like the most to play with AND and created manual that allows you to use a glitch (in this game, if you launch your created manual while in a jump, it allows you to jump again during the animation of this trick, so you can reach higher places and it allows you to do multiple wallrides). I don't use this glitch a lot during my run, but yeah, I use it.
- I will only be able to record this run with a Dazzle, which renders kinda poor quality (watchable but poor). Is it ok?
- I use a real time clock that I start right at the moment I'm pressing the x button to launch the very first level of the mode. In the game, when you reach enough goals to complete the classic mode, a message appears and then you get a skate bails video, I stop the clock when the message appears.
- The game contains a lot of OOB glitches, but (as far as I know) I dont need one to complete it as fast as possible, so it's only about gameplay skills.

Should I change anything or can I start recording sessions to submit it the way I'm doing it?

Thanks a lot for reading this and for helping!

Hey and welcome to the boards!

As for saved characters, using them is just a different category (considered a New Game+) and is perfectly fine.

Before you start recording runs, I strongly suggest posting a video quality test in the tech board. This way you'll get feedback on whether or not you need to tune some of your settings to get an acceptable video.

SDA timing is usually done at start of control and ends at end of control. It sounds like your timing points are pretty close to that. You don't have to worry about being exact since the run, if submitted, will be timed by us regardless.

Ok Smiley great!

Im a bit worried though, since the best settings I can get are kinda crappy compared to the vids that are usually uploaded here. But count on me to submit a test soon (or maybe even directly the run, since even if i don't have it certified here I'd like to record it "just for me". Not sure I'd be able to borrow a better cap card so...)

BTW, I forgot to mention it, but my saved character doesnt even have full stats, its just the basic guy with a few different assigned tricks Smiley
Hello,

you should consider posting in the game thread for category related questions. If none exists, create one. There you should get help from people who know the game.
Still: Good Luck ith your run!
My questions weren't about the game, I know this game a lot since i've played it years and years with its online community. But sorry for posting here, I just didn't find the accurate section
Weegee Time
I would still encourage you to start up a thread in the proper forum and post up your strategies.  It's always good to get another pair of eyes to look over your plans, and who knows, someone might provide some improvements.  Speedrunning is really a communal process, the more the merrier. Smiley

In any case, welcome to the forum, and I hope you enjoy your time here!
