I just realized that most (about 85%) of the speedruns people say they are going to do, with the exception of people who have already done some, never do them. What I mean is, new people at this site make a topic saying "Oh, I'm going to do speedrun X and it'll do done around Y." For example, here are some speedruns I heard people talk about, and I wanted them to do, but they never did:

Earthworm Jim
Dino crisis 2
Diablo/Diablo 2
Indiana Jones III
Spyro 2
Final Fantasy Legends

Question: What speedruns where you looking forward to, but haven't heard about for a long time?
Thread title:
Did I shoot 3 times or once from different angles
Megaman Legends!!!
Even though it was more like I heard someone asking if they want to see one and no one gave a big yes, but later I registered and ask if someone was going to one and got a few "I probably will".

So it's not really what your talking about.

I wonder how a Diablo 1 speedrun would be like. Huh? Hmm, that sounds intriguing. I want to see a 3-player ironman movie done fast. With commentary, that would be totally awesome, even if it were 20 hours long...

(ironman = no town trips ever, and no restarting in town if you die)

iron man, you mean liek hardcore mod ?

i would like to try to it in d2 in hardcore, but not alone ^.^

( dont know if i still got a account in hardcor e:)
I wonder... How long would it take to make a Diablo II speedrun? Would you have to do ALL of the quests, or just the required ones?

well for speedrun, only kill the boss ( needed quest) would be done, i think..  Huh?

but a run in this game, you need a dam lots of luck cause of item droped and way the go

its just to random but still would be fun to watch Cheesy

liek make a party def - power Pal, Tank Barb, fire-light sorc
I would make a sorc if I were to make a speedrun because they have teleport. It would be a Fireball sorc, since they do a lot of damage. And, for the speedrun, you only need to kill Diablo/Baal on Normal, so none of the monsters are fire immune. (Some are but very few) And, Maphack would probably be banned Since rule number states "First, and most obviously, NO CHEATING. Only fairly produced demos are accepted." So, it would all have to be based on luck.

^ Sorry, went a little off topic there. ^

I was the one who started the Diablo2 run, and in fact I started a test run and still once in a while do something for it. Current time is:

- 2h50' after Diablo in single player on /players8 (I figured if I changed the players count halfway through it would count as a benefical code and the chaos sankt on 8 players is not fun alone) (March 3rd 05)
- 22'28" with 3 players for act1 alone on closed BNet (managed it yesterday, still improvable but you'll have a rough time figuring out the details if you don't ask)

The reason why I stalled the whole Diablo2 run is that someone in Bisqwits forum posted a few of his times, and either he knows much more about the game than I do, or I have missed some essential point because I can't even get close to that times. If someone still wants to comment about it, you know where the topic is.

EDIT: Umbra, I'm doing it with a Fists of Fire Assassin and there are 2 fire immune monsters on Normal difficulty.

If it is on Bisqwit it might be tool assisted.
I truley hate Bisqwit... You don't need any skill to make a speedrun except knowing to use savestates, FrameSkip Throttle (slow down game) and they use glitchs to teleport them to or near the end of the game. Speerunning is about you showing how good you are at a game, not showing what glitches you learned off the internet.

...
If it's so easy, why don't you make a good tool-assisted run to prove it? Start with Rockman (Mega Man 1). Nah, didn't think so.

Patricio: it's obvious you have no idea what you're talking about. Diablo 2 is a PC Windows game and there aren't any tools to make a tool-assisted run for that game (or any game on PC).

Could someone just lock this thread now before it gets too ugly?

Thanks Blublu... when I read that answer I literally got a twitching eyebrow and was about to flame that comment into oblivion.

@Umbra: Less distaste, more effort of trying to understand what they are doing, and for goodness sake don't get personal like that.

@Lurkers: LoD discussion is continued here

now you can close this thing....

Let's not argue about this until someone actually makes a run.

Apart from the bots these alter the game and are strictly forbidden even by Bisqwits rules Tongue

And well bots... I'd love to see a bot complete Diablo2 alone. I'd really love to. It wouldn't push back a lot of borders in AI research, but still...

I said might because i wasn't sure if pc games could be tool assisted. Sorry you were confused.

You still need to know the game inside-out. The emu lets you pull off tricky manouvres efficiently. It doesn't tell you what to do and when. "Knowledge is power" Smiley
I like this site name cause it's easy to remember.
And besides, a lot of people who do emu runs discover new glitches in the process.
