I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
I recently stumbled onto this site:

http://youtube.com/index

I found that both my Silent Hill 1 and 2 Maria's quest videos were put up on that site by someone else: his username is LukeHarris:

See his profile and other vids here:

http://youtube.com/profile?user=LukeHarris

There are a few speedruns he put up on that site.

Though he doesn't technically take credit for my speedruns he doesn't credit me either; and since he's the one who's put it online people will think the runs are his work.

Figured this should be brought to everyone's attention.

Eternal Understudy
It seems that AquaTiger's recent Mario Land 2 run is there as well. Comments and all.

TIOLET!
He does actually take credit for the SML 2 run, kick his ass... someone!

Edit: And the SH2 run... omg. "Overall this was a decent run (I'm never really satisfied with anything I do)"
If you check his SSBM Jigglypuff Adventure Mode vid, he says that "He didn't do it, he found it". Apparently doesn't know/doesn't want others to know about SDA.

And on another one, he talks about the run as if it was his own.

I'll copy/paste other things I want to point out

"The world record of someone beating Metroid: Zero Mission"
"Someone beating Goldeneye on hardest difficulty without dying once."
"Original Metroid Speed Run - NES
Best time with both bosses beaten: 0:29:10 by Anonymous runner on 17.04.04"
"This is the world record speed run of somebody beating Super Mario World in just over ten minutes."
"A video of someone beating Metal Slug 4 on hard mode without dying once. Wow..."
"video of someone beating Metal Slug on hard mode without dying once, AWESOME!"

I think someone should e-mail him to tell him about SDA and ask/demand him to give credit to the author of the run/s.

.... what a <censored>, you take the time to download speedruns and put them up on another site under your name for no real benefit besides making people you don't know think you're cool, until they find SDA and see what a loser you are. This guy should shoot himself cause he has no friends. that is all Tongue
Eternal Understudy
I made a comment. See if he says anything.
100% runs=great to watch
Wow.....what a little punk...not giving credit where it is due and all. Put him on the Peppers's thread list!
Speed is the key.
He actually took credit for the silent hill 2 run, too.

Bastard.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
I already mailed him about it,
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
I got this response:

"Oh, I apologize. I simply put them on the site for other people so see. I didn't want to take credit for doing it. I love Speed Demos Archive, and I support it 100%. I usually say someone else did it, but I never recalled saying I personally did the speed run. Sorry for that... I'll remove them if you want me to."

Can't really be angry about it as he's not being an ass about it.

"word I edited out" is actually the dumbest insult ever created, in my opinion.

And if he won't give credit to the ones who actually did the runs, I suggest you ask him to remove them.

They do now. I'm guessing Strangeness did it. And that's because of me and my "tasteful" description of Photobucket. I think I could feel worse about that ._.;

And Frig1d, edit that post. If the word is censorsed, don't try to dodge around the filter. EDIT: You too, Ham- I mean, Hitaro :-X.

To respond to actual thread topic, this has happened a lot recently..... E-bay, G4..... It's good that the guy isn't being a complete ass about it. One can only hope to resolve such things this simply. We just have to find out about these things and make our voices heard and it gets solved. We've discussed the legal benefits or screw overs a lot, so yeah, it's good that this can be solved with simple comments...

EDIT2: Him posting our speedruns elsewhere could help this outreach thing :P. Damn, we should ask more people to steal our runs, and just give credit. That would be cool o.o;

EDIT3: Lmao, marsh.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
In his last reply he said he'd give credit where it's due.
Jack of all Trades
I just feel left out, he didn't steal any of my runs...<sniff>
Ben Goldberg
It looks like he gave credit...

A Crab
Just checked, all the video descriptions now include the runner's name. This guy is at least 5 times cooler than G4, where they just decided to stop showing the runs altogether and lock any discussion about it.
Good man, fixing his mistake quickly. No harm, no foul.

And he did spread the word about speedruns, as yourtube is a popular video website.

And even better was that he wasn't being an ass about it. Despite his mistake, these types of people are great for our community :).

This youtube.com site also has a user who stole some of my Zelda "tv" videos I recorded two years ago which I begged people to not take and use...

But this one guy was cool...
Radix maybe you should force implement a copyright notice or something on the videos (Remember the old Metroid2002.com segment intros?) to protect against this sort of thing happening.
$inner
Well, least he'll give credit.

yes, a new statid is inevitable now.

rise from your grave!!!</altered beast>
What? Another topic about people stealing runs?

Not to be mean, but this is the dirty side of the business. No matter what someone does, someone will always try to steal it. It's some kind of unwritten law or something (not a good one).

This is why I firmly believe in vigilante justice. Go get 'em!
DMC3,ZOE2 and Xenosaga 2. Am I crazy?

I think he can`t do it without the runners permission. In the other topic we came to the conclusion that the run is the property of the runner so if we respect that he would need the runners permission. (Wich I think almost everyone would give)
