Since a discussion about this became rampant, and popular here, I decided to just make a thread just about it.

The question is, how did you find this website? For me personally, I saw the url on a DVD my friend was showing me. We were watching Dante beat the crap out of all these dead skull things with scythes, and he noticed something called "speedruns" on the disc. We saw a few clips and at one point my friend Charles just said, "how....?" That's how I found it.

Now it's your turn o.o
Thread title:
Oof...can't recall 100%, but I think just through google. I was already in several time attacking communities, so I was bound to type "speedruns" in google and find the site sooner or later

BTW, is there a way to make a poll for this topic?
The man made of sticks
I've known about SDA long before it branched out to games beyond Quake, watching QDQ and such.
I'm another 'via metroid2002.com' person. I think I was googling for Metroid Prime tricks, or something similar.

Yup, lurker at m2k2, and when Nate some day announced something would now be hosted here I found my way here. IIRC I resurrected an ill-fated topic about Diablo2 back then...
Never give up!
I found it because someone from another forum I went to at the time (and still visit on occasion) linked the Mega Man X4 run.  I just decided to investigate further and now here I am.

give me your eyes!!!
Found a link to an old MGS3 run on the comparatively sucky Gamefaqs message boards.
Still alive...
I first found PD-Elite somewhere in the end of last year. i wanted to know how good i am compared to the world records. I suck...

Anyway, after that i got interested in what the RE2 record is. I jumped then over, what must have been 2000 links, to SDA. And here I am.  Smiley
welcome to the machine
Radix's 1:37.  I lurked around m2k2 and gamefaqs before that, but the 1:37 introduced me to sda (and the irc channel perhaphs, I can't remember).
When i wanted to do a speedrun of eternal darkness a friend pointed me to this site. Then i pretty much stayed here.
The BaldurManiac
I don't know... seriously!
I used to play a lot of Q2:WF and heard about Q2DQ.

Yep.
I remember another thread like this, but I can't find it now.

enjoyed watching qdq, stumbled upon the sda link there, was here when the "other game"-section opened.
I was there at the creation of SDA (non-quake) as we all chatted there in #metroid

Yeah soteos, I think there was a thread like this before, but you would have to enter the maximum age thingy in the search. Whatever, this is just easier. I left this alone for about an hour, and 13 replies later, and a 2nd page.... @_@;

Surprisingly general answers too. Google, Quake or Metoid. Interesting.
ouch!
searching for mario 64 speedrun on google and found it  Grin

What do you expect? Aliens from *insert strange universe here* tell us to got to SDA and register on the Forum?

Considering this croud, yeah actually @_@;

Yoshi's eggs are at my mercy!
I hadn't realized but long ago I found the (at the time) 11:08 run of Super Mario World 3. Being stupid and misinformed, I had thought it was done in real time (since at the time I didn't know what TASes were.

I lost my download of it and was in search of it again, so I googled "Super Mario Wolrd 3 [something]" (don't remember exactly), and eventually hit Quake Speedruns or whatever Radix called pre-SDA. I browsed around the "other games" list for about 2 months before bothering registering at the forums. At that time, I would try to mimic David Gibbon's Yoshi's Island runs on my GBA version.

515 posts later, I have 1 impressive run, 2 crappy runs, and 2 rejected runs. That about sums it all up.
I was seeking Target Test World Record for SSBM. I know these one are not the best, but heck, they impressed me last year!
XXY
There's better Break the Target videos somewhere? @_@;

How can that be?
Eternal Understudy
Tri hex, don't you mean Mario world 2 or Mario Advance 3?

Anyway, I honestly don't remember how I got here, I just sort of... did. Maybe those aliens that InsaneB4st4rd mentioned had something to do with it.
PoCari: Because these (for some of them) are not world record.
