Yeah, most splitters and switches are going to be HDCP-compliant, meaning they *won't* strip the HDCP.
Because this I confirmed CVID 550 HDCP remove, not compliant only. after turn on my CVID can record using ANY blocked HDCP software like POWER DIRECTOR / VIDEOSTUDIO / AVID / RECENTRAL / MAGIX...
I have a european HD PVR 2 GE and I've tried the Sewell 1x2 (V1.1.20130810/HDV-912 HDCP) Model SW23500 390 but it did not work at any resolution. Taking the unit apart, the PCB is different from the one posted in the thread earlier and is yellow. I tried different cables, displays and also tried the 1x4 method posted earlier in the thread, but nothing worked.
I've raised a return for the unit and see if I can find something else that works for me. Ordered a Lenkeng LKV312 so hopefully it'll work, My only concern is finding a PSU for the unit. Other than that, it's selling my HD PVR for a device that's a bit more compatible with strippers. I've heard you can preview the Elgato without using a HDCP stripper, so I could use that with OBS to record. I'll report in if the LKV312 is compatible or not.
So I got an Elgato Game Capture HD and I can confirm that the Lenkeng I reviewed months ago (http://www.thethrillness.com/2014/02/lenkeng-lkv312n-hdmi-1x2-splitter-review.html) does actually strip HDCP for that device. I was using the pass through on the Elgato so only one output of the splitter was being used. That got me thinking. I went back and tried my Aver H727 and I can confirm that the Lenkeng will strip HDCP but only when you connect one output to it... very weird.
I should mention that originally the Elgato software said the content was blocked by HDCP but all I did was change the profile to Standard and then back to HD 720 and all was good. The Aver also gave me a HDCP message but it vanished after 10 seconds and I could record.
Basically I've compared prerendered videos from 2 PS3 game discs to what is outputted via HDMI from the PS3. I really hope there is some other explanation but it seems like Sony (or the developer I used) are going the Hollywood route and applying a post processing filter of orange/teal over the image. After talking to blizzz he gave me a great idea. Can anyone help find me some ripped from disc game videos of Final Fantasy XIII (.bik format or equivalent)? Reason being is I have this game on both PS3 and 360. I will be able to see if it's just Quantic Dream or Sony doing this to all titles. I'll also be able to see if the Xbox does anything similar.
It was working fine before, did AverMedia or Sony make a change in an update or something? How did this go from working to not? The splitter seems fine and I tried plugging and unplugging every cable more than once with no effect.
PS3 with Lenkeng and HDPVR2 = No problem using splits, HDCP is cut correctly, everything works well
PS4 with Lenkeng and HDPVR2 = Problem using splits, HDCP is cut correctly, it's a PITA to use that often requires restarts of splitter/PS4/monitor/everything/rage, only reliable using in-device passthrough
PS4 with Lenkeng and SKNET MonsterX U3.0R = Problem using splits, HDCP doesn't get cut, unreliable PITA that ends up requiring pulling and replugging things no matter what you do eventually, only reliable using in-device passthrough
PS4 with Lenkeng and the SKNET where the SKNET passthrough is connected someplace = Black screen
Weird little quirk with the SKNET device (will be given a review, 18000ish yen), sucky damn quirk with PS4 + Lenkeng on capture devices. If anyone of you know a splitter that works better (1x2) with the PS4 I'd like to know, I'll need to cut HDCP for when I get a PS3 again and I really really want to use the pure split video instead of an imperfect passthrough, as lagless the SKNET device one is
A splitter for the PS4? Doesn't it have a turn off feature for the HDCP under the settings? Anyway, I don't really have much to record on the PS4 so sorry I can't be of any help but try turning off your HDCP and recording without the splitter.
Question for you owners. Once I have my splitter setup should I just leave it plugged in? I don't use it daily so I don't really want that red light keeping me up but is it better to unplug it or to leave it set up? I've gone through 2 already and I'm wondering if that's the reason.
There are different versions of recentral software so i think we need to patch it separately. I think they are similar. Can you upload your recentral.exe. I need take a look into its code.
I just received it and it works flawlessly with the PS4, while Lenkeng's plastic splitter (tried two separate, tried many cables) causes great many issues no matter what in the setup (ps4 > splitter > output to capture, output to monitor). 5v positive-tip. The one problem is that it's got blue leds.
(When used with the SKNET capture hardware, neither this splittert nor the Lenkeng cuts HDCP from the PS4, I intend to buy a PS3 for christmas again and see if that will do the trick. Could be HDMI version matching letting HDCP slip through, and the HDPVR2 having older HDMI not fully understanding the new language, letting HDCP get bypassed, the way we want. Alright stay tuned.) (Unless of course the software or drivers for the SKNET could be modified with those nine bytes.)
Update: LenKeng + PS3 SuperSlim + SKNET capture = HDCP is not cut The boxy lil' black splitter instead of the LenKeng = Black screen Verdict: Seems better to save up an additional $100+ and get the MicomSoft USB3 capture instead if you want 1080p60 PS3 caps, though it's fine with PS4. Disclaimer: I like to for the sake of film science and study take screenshots from Blu-Ray films from time to time, that's why I like the idea of cutting HDCP and F COMPONENT.
and the day after LenKeng + SuperSlim + SKNET works fine. The hell?
Verdict when it comes to erasing HDCP from PS3 as well as PS4: It largely depends on the video capture device, some are of a version that the HDCP erasing does not work on. The most reliable object I have to erase HDCP with is the Monoprice DVI+Audio to HDMI converter, and boy am I happy that I kept it. I now have a PS3 w/o HDCP and PS4 1080p60 capture and streaming rig built and ready, switching inputs in 5-10 seconds by the push of a button on a $6 DealXtreme HDMI switch.
You can copy nearly any retail BluRay to your PC with MakeMKV and take screenshots with MPC-HC or whatever media player you prefer. As with HDCP, you're breaking a copy protection which might be technically illegal in your country.
Edit: This was in response to a comment that seems to be removed.
As you can see, the 1.3.0.89 is latest for LGP but the Live Gamer HD is stuck back on 1.3.0.84 as per the Windows 8.1 Beta release. Maybe the 0.89 works for the Live Gamer HD but if it does not, I've included the 0.84 patch for Live Gamer HD owners. Let me know if 0.89 works for the Live Gamer HD so I can remove 0.84 and make this less confusing.
Edit: I think it's latest 0.89 (the exe modified date is December 2014). I don't think AVerMedia did anything with the devices in the past 4 months.
For anyone wondering, yes the attached files will remove HDCP from AVerMedia devices without needing splitters or anything. Just plug the PS3 straight into the capture card and overwrite the exe.
So to summarize for anyone else who might be wondering:
AVerMedia's v1.3.0.89 (latest version as of writing) has HDCP removed via the patch I attached above. Replace it with your current exe and HDCP will be removed for capturing/streaming. You will not need a splitter.
Is there a recommended 4x2 HDMI splitter that does what we need and with top-notch timing? The only reliable way to remove HDCP is to have the Monoprice unit from the OP in-line so I'd like a split to that going to capture, the second being a split to my main monitor. (worst case I could get around with a 2x2 but those are so cheap I could hit DealXtreme without much worry)
Still streaming and capping PS3 footage a bunch, hoping they figure out what they need and give it intelligent HDCP triggering like the PS4 before long.
