I survived MIKE-Fest 1
as the topic says.

Yesterday I saw that my Splinter Cell Multiplayer run become acepted so I tell that to TT99 (The second Player of the run) we meet up and watch the entry run with a few beers at the end it was a cool day and the few beers turns out to be a lot of beer's  Grin (Get up this mornig was very hard)

So what's with you? Do you celebrate and how?
Thread title:
i jack off to it with a big smile on my face if its a new mike uyama run (contra 3  ;D)
Yoshi's eggs are at my mercy!
Well, these days, for me, it's a lot less climatic. I typically get so burned out from actually finishing the run that documentary stuff like adding audio commentary, reediting the comments because the first draft sucks, and all that stuff become an afterthought. I want the run to have all that bonus stuff ... but I'm also the world's worst procrastinator. >_>; I celebrate the announcement of finishing a run by posting some silly caps lock post in the respective thread followed by editing the thead title with something just as dumb.

On a more positive note, when I was much younger and finished my 1:58:14 Yoshi's Island single-segment speedrun back in October 2005 (It was something important to me at the time given it was my first speedrun I was actually proud to grace SDA's pages) I was almost in tears. It sounds pretty corny, I know, but the context is what lead to that state. I had 6 major failed attempts that weekend (At the time, the only distraction-free environment to actually bother recording speedruns was at my grandma's house, which I could only go to on the weekends), all of them over an hour into playing before dying or whatever caused the screw up. It was Sunday night, and very likely my last chance to get this speedrun done this weekend or have to endure another week of waiting to try again. Once I did it, I checked the VCR's timer. It was at something like -0:58:xx, and the end of the speedrun was at +0:57:xx, meaning the total running time was less than 2 hours, which was my goal all along.

I was very happy that night, but in retrospect, I can say now that those days of spontaneous happiness from completing a speedurn are over. These days it'll be more like a "It's a about time!" sort of thing. Just look at my Yoshi's Island, Jet Set Radio Future, or Drake of the 99 Dragons for instance ...
I watch it and see if the commentary makes sense.

Something I failed to do terribly so far. All my comments are comprehendable to those who attend SDA regularly and followed the progress in the respective threads. But to YouTubers and the actual public, all my comments are like written in Japanese or something. One day I really need to get around to redoing the Crash 2 & 3 and Yoshi comments. I guess I should do the audio commentary for them while I'm at it ... >_>;

Well, when I saw my Ratchet: Deadlocked SS run was accepted, I was absolutely enjoyed. I didn't fall in tears or drunk some beer, but I was very happy. 1 year and a half in the making, but it was not the acceptation of the run that was the best for me.

The best was the official moment where my run has been posted on SDA. Finally I truly own a good world record, aside with my "number of missed occasions with the girls" world record. Grin

And it's around some months later that I see my run can really be improved with some glitches.
Visually Appealing
i never celebrated my runs getting accepted. if anything, i just let out a sigh of relief knowing i won't have to worry about redoing it if it gets rejected.
I'm going to go to Disneyland. (No, seriously!)

I thought Crash 2/3 comments made sense (great runs!).

2 & 3 * I like watching the run segment by segment and reading the comments at the same time.
Back in the game!
I get so excited near the end of a run that I know is going to be good that I'm burnt out by the time it's actually over.
bläää
Most of the runs I got where mostly a disapointment, you wished you never did those mistakes. But for some records feels very great to get. Beers and babes all night long and stuffs like that.
Talk to the Hand
Beers and babes?

The hell, I want to live in Sweden if I get beers and babes upon the successful completion of a run there. Sad

More seriously, I don't really do a whole lot. It's more making posts on my site and some other communities that "Hey, this run I've been posting about is accepted and posted on SDA! Go check it out!"
Hi! I'm andrewg!
Runs getting accepted is nice. Especially Mario 1 for me.  8) I purposely made it a really unexpected speedrun and made sure I didn't tell anyone about it. Once it got accepted on SDA, I know there must have been a "woa" moment for some people. It was the kind of run you don't expect people to improve, let alone by 5 seconds.  Wink

That was really cool. I showed a lot of my friends and whatnot. It's funny because some of my friends didn't even believe me, strangely.

EDIT:...Also beers and babes  Wink  LOL
Lay waste to everything...but I still love SDA!
Here's how i celebrate, since it's my time now: i put the run's link in my sig on other forums. That's all. And i think i'm going to sleep now. You can send me babes if you want, though.  Tongue
General Kong - Bullets and Bananas
I watch my babe laugh at me in my unending masochism as I start the next game.  Tongue
Heh, if only my friends cared enough about my gaming habits to be glad I ripped apart a game...

It's celebrated by me being all like "next game", burning out from that one, and getting in a tizzy over which game I want to run next.

I wish I could get in on one of Frezy's crazy celebration parties. T_T

Thanks for the comments and reassurance, but as I said, you aren't the audience I was mentioning when I said that. You, as a SDA member, would understand the comments. But if SDA's goal of expanding to the public gets executed (not trying to sound doubtful of that happening), new users who haven't played Crash since their childhood will need a better reminder of the mechanics of the game, and less technical explanation of how I'm performing the exploits. Plus, during the segment-specific comments, I feel like I'm rambling on forever, which is something that should be reserved for audio commentary.
I cry myself to sleep knowing I just wasted months of my life doing a job I'm not paid for. Luckily I haven't had the time to fuel my addiction as I've unhappily kept studying and striving for acceptance in the nonchalant eyes of others, unrewarded, knowing the society might accept my sacrifices... eventually.
everybody wanna tell you the meaning of music

Imagine how we feel. I don't even have time to speedrun anymore so that I can later celebrate them and post in this thread about how I celebrate them!
Everything's better with Magitek
No beers and babes for me...unless you count my 8-month old "babe". Wink

Since they've started posting the accept/reject results in the forum, I've had only one run get accepted (Final Fantasy X), but I didn't celebrate its acceptance because I knew it would probably be a few months before it's actually posted on SDA.  (Is it a good or bad thing to have the longest speedrun on SDA? :-\)
