Any%: Uses Save & Quit to skip the introductions to each level, starts from a fresh save file
Characters:
The Fans:
- Corey can roll under bullets, allowing him to clear short distances without getting shot. He can also roll through windows and doors.
- Mark starts with 2 SMGs, which can be angled outward with Mouse 2. Starting with guns makes him useful for short Scenes.
- Tony can kill with punches, kill dogs with punches, and perform quick executions; however, he cannot use weapons at all.
- Alex and Ash wield both a melee weapon and a gun. Ash lags behind Alex, and starts the Scene with a 9mm pistol; however, she can pick up any gun on the ground when hers is empty.
- Jake can choose between three masks. His default mask, Jake, gives him killing throws.
- Richter appears to have no special traits.
- The Detective cannot see the ammo count of guns he picks up, unless he stops to do so.
- The Journalist plays like a pacifist, unloading guns and crippling enemies rather than killing them. Executing enemies with melee weapons will increase the Journalist's bloodlust, allowing you to kill enemies with melee weapons and guns.
- The Soldier starts with one of four ranged weapons - an assault carbine, a heavy machine gun, a sniper rifle, or a flamethrower - and a knife. He cannot pick up weapons, but can switch quickly between the two he has.
- The Butcher holds shotguns with one hand, increasing their spread.
Tricks and Techniques:
Baiting: You can bait AI to follow you or come to your position with either line of sight or gunfire; however, some enemies are immune to being baited by gunfire. There are many more enemies with guns in Hotline Miami 2 than Hotline Miami, which makes baiting all the more important. On some levels, such as Dead Ahead, it's important to bring a full or close-to-full gun to new floors.
Will edit appropriately when the game gets fully routed.
