Any%: Uses Save & Quit to skip the introductions to each level, starts from a fresh save file

Characters:
The Fans:
- Corey can roll under bullets, allowing him to clear short distances without getting shot. He can also roll through windows and doors.
- Mark starts with 2 SMGs, which can be angled outward with Mouse 2. Starting with guns makes him useful for short Scenes.
- Tony can kill with punches, kill dogs with punches, and perform quick executions; however, he cannot use weapons at all.
- Alex and Ash wield both a melee weapon and a gun. Ash lags behind Alex, and starts the Scene with a 9mm pistol; however, she can pick up any gun on the ground when hers is empty.

- Jake can choose between three masks. His default mask, Jake, gives him killing throws.
- Richter appears to have no special traits.

- The Detective cannot see the ammo count of guns he picks up, unless he stops to do so.
- The Journalist plays like a pacifist, unloading guns and crippling enemies rather than killing them. Executing enemies with melee weapons will increase the Journalist's bloodlust, allowing you to kill enemies with melee weapons and guns.
- The Soldier starts with one of four ranged weapons - an assault carbine, a heavy machine gun, a sniper rifle, or a flamethrower - and a knife. He cannot pick up weapons, but can switch quickly between the two he has.
- The Butcher holds shotguns with one hand, increasing their spread.

Tricks and Techniques:

Baiting: You can bait AI to follow you or come to your position with either line of sight or gunfire; however, some enemies are immune to being baited by gunfire. There are many more enemies with guns in Hotline Miami 2 than Hotline Miami, which makes baiting all the more important. On some levels, such as Dead Ahead, it's important to bring a full or close-to-full gun to new floors.

Will edit appropriately when the game gets fully routed.

Ruling the cosmos!
Doesn't the soldier also have a shotgun?
Tony just went from godlike tier to ... welp, crappy. Too many scenes where you have to bait out AI or you're dead because of long corridors making you waste a LOT of times.

Will get  to routing once they stop bugging in doors and instakilling me if I try to slip by them ::
Looking forward to helping with this! I got a 31.066 on the 1st scene (Hardmode) with Tony. Could probably be in high 20s with a perfect run. I didn't get very far with any other character. Mark is pretty useless since there is a sword enemy that can't be shot (unless there is some trick I don't know about). There is something about the simplicity of Tony that works. I also find it interesting that HM2 does not reset your time if you "press R to restart" like it did in HM. So if you die the in-game clock keeps ticking.
Managed to get 28.133. Could be faster.

I was able to clear the first act in about 9:00 on my second run through on normal mode. I have the first three levels in Act 1 mapped out pretty well, but still need to work on the last one. Ideally, if done correctly / flawlessly, one can probably complete act 1 in under 8 minutes.
Two major things to add to this. Dingo has the WR for Any% NG+ in 1:07:XX (Which is the faster category, mostly due to the flamethrower on the military levels). I've gotten a 1:16:52, and these are still very basic, unoptimized routes.

The second thing, is that it was just discovered that Mark can shoot through some walls when standing close, possibly making him faster than Alex & Ash on some levels. This also works with the Son, when using the "Firepower" charm ability thing. Very cool and useful.

Alex and Ash seem useless so far given their tendency to get stuck outside the level or not able to shoot because a wall is in the way.

Anyone try glitching into the cars with a takedown yet?
Car glitching does not work on any level, can confirm. Also Dingodrole holds the NG+ Any% WR now at 55:14. Doesn't even give us a chance ;-)

Shame about the death of cat glitch.

Mark being able to shoot through walls seems pretty promising depending on the level layout.

I just found a glitch on Act 2, Fifth scene : First trial

On the first area, I somehow managed to get the ennemies to glitch and not attack me :

I found out that you can trigger this glitch by spamming left click and right click during the cpr on the first ennemy. It's totally reproducible. There is one major flaw though, the doors are locked, which means you need to go through the middle of the level, so I don't know if you can actually win time with this glitch, since the route is then pretty terrible, so I guess it will be a pretty useless glitch after all. It does not affect the second floor. I guess you can do way better than I did, didn't really try to do something as good as possible, I just wanted to share the glitch ^^'

You can just run past everything in the second floor, taking people out is optional. It's a pretty consistent glitch, it reliably finishes the level in about 45 seconds for me. I like it to the standard approach.

Nice find.
I've found a glitch in the intro of act 4. From the moment the girl unties herself and leaves the bathroom, hold AW (left and up) and mouse 2. For some reason, the game registers Martin leaving the room and ultimately leaving the building. This way, you can skip the cutscene in which Martin has to pickup the phone and get arrested.

Furthermore, and I expect most of you know, you can skip dialogues before they've even happened. Just hold mouse 2 three seconds prior to the scripted dialogue. It'll never happen. This does not work for dialogues you have to initiate yourself by pressing mouse 1.

My 2 cents for now ;). I'll keep sharing any knowledge or tricks Smiley
I forgot to mention that I like to run the game it's intended to be: complete from the start. Hence the glitch I found in one of the cutscenes Smiley

I find that Scene 1 is fastest as Tony. Scene 2 I typically storm into the center room kill the guy on the left first then open fire on the guy on the right. It seems faster to do Scene 2 without the shotgun.
