I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
The Hitman games have always been very challenging. Starting with Hitman 2, the Silent Assasin rank is given to those who complete a level perfectly. Truly there is no better Hitman player than one that can finish the entire game with a Silent Assasin ranking on all levels.

Would anyone like to see a Silent Assasin run on Hitman 2 or Contracts on the hardest difficulty?

I've also thought about a normal speed run for the original Hitman: Codename 47 game, but as it takes no skill, it will have to wait.

Thank for reading, and tell me what you think.  Grin

I would really like to see this speedrun. Hitman 2 and 3 normal runs are impressive, but with SA rank...

And I think there are already topics on this type of run!

I wish I hadn't deleted them, because I ran the first five missions of Hitman 2 on Silent Assassin rank. I found fast ways of dispatching the targets and escaping with the rank. I think I might re-install it and run them again to show you what I did, or at least give you my times. I stopped because Japan was too hard for me (though some of the levels after that I did run). I was playing on Normal, because in Professional their movement patterns are erratic which makes it more difficult. I beat the Don level in less than four minutes, the first Russian officer one in less than 6, the second one in less than four, the third one in less than 7 I believe, and the last one in less than 3. Again, I will have to go back and try again to hopefully show whoever runs this a fast way of getting Silent Assassin.

As for Contracts, I know I can do SA on the first few missions, and probably eventually all of them (I can also do the one where you have to kill all those Korean(?) gang members one really fast).

As for Blood Money, I have gotten Silent Assassin on the first few missions, I did the first one really fast, and could probably do all of them.

Pweisger, unfortunately, the times you speak of ain't really that good in comparison with some of the times I've seen.

Check up some of the videos from here - they really are sick. Hell, Hidden Valley is done faster than the current SDA record. And also, the runs are not only Silent Assassin, they also have 'all zero' ratings.

Wow. Those runs are simply amazing.

I may be able to shave off a couple of second from each level, but I won't do it unless I find a completely different approach to the level.

Till I get my new PC I can't record the run, so I'll have some time to see.

However I wonder.. why aren't those runs on the site?

Bad video quality, no sound in some etc.

Also, clean 'Silent Assassin' rating without all zero would be faster to do in some levels if you know the details of the scoring system. Like in Anathema shooting the guard to take his suit etc.

Those runs use unlocked weapons don't they?

'All zero' rating means they can't even shoot once, so unlocked weapons don't appear at all.

There are two non 'all zero' vids there - mainly because in those levels you have to shoot at least once. In Basement Killing 9mm pistol SD is used to destroy surveillance. In Graveyard Shift, the same weapon is used to destroy the window.

Yeh, but you can have the guards shoot at you and break the window. Of course then you would only be sacrificing one zero for another (unless I find a way around it).

So you're saying that all I have to do is just record a completely identical run to what those people did and it will be submited?

And about the Silent Assasin without All Zeros. That's less of an achievement isn't it?
Invisible avatar
Yeah, but 'All zero' is an arbitrary challenge not rewarded by the game. Silent Assassin is a rating, and a rating rewarded by the game.

In other words, even if someone tried to do the game 'all zero' after you do regular Silent Assassin runs, the 'all zero' run wouldn't be a different category - at least by the current rules of SDA. It'd be good to ask somebody from the staff about it though.

For Silent Assassin rating, there's a 'point' system or something like that. If you exceed 3 in that point rating, you don't get SA. If you are under it, then SA is yours. Each shot counts as 1, each guard kill counts as 1.5 etc. Doing an SA non-az run would mean you'd have to carefully plan where and what to do to make maximum use of the scoring system but still not exceed it. You could say it's slightly less of a challenge in playing though.

"All Zeros" is not rewarded by the game, but it is by the community. The only problem is it's impossible to get it in every level.

But I've thought over about doing this run, and I've concluded that in order to beat those times I would have to use the same glitches that the runners used, and I don't like using glitches because it takes much less skill.

Altough I've come across an even crazier way to finish each level - only using the suit you came into the level with. Doing this makes it impossible to use the glitch, so it's an interesting idea. I've already done the first level.. the second level has been done before but I can improve on that run by at least 1 minute.

I've seen quite a few runs that used only the first suit. Those runs are called 'suit only'. I don't know the links to most of them though.

And even if it's rewarded by the community, it's an arbitrary challenge. Those are not allowed on SDA - speed first. Silent Assassin is a rating rewarded by the game, so you can make a run of it. Suit only/all zero ain't like that, so while you can squeeze them into the Silent Assassin run, you should only do so if they don't cost you significant time.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see a different approach to those runs, but unfortunately that won't end on SDA.

In my runs, I managed to barely get the SA rank in Hitman 2, so much so that I don't actually get the bonus weapons. For example, in Anathema, I drugged the guard coming out the door, took his suit, ran thru the basement into the house, up to the Don's bedroom, where I shot the guard in front of his room in the head, dragged his body in the bedroom, and killed the don with a golf club. Took the key and finished the level, in only a few minutes if I remember right. My finish screen said One shot, to the head, one Guard killed, and a Silent Assassin ranking. However, I didn't get the bonus weapon, probably because it wasn't "Silent Assassin enough" if you know what I mean. However, it is still Silent Assassin, so it counts, and it's pretty fast. Like I said, I will look at these vids and upload some of my own if I can.

You need to have less than 2 in the 'point' system to get the bonus weapon.
PwNzRd!
Well then that explains that.
