Just in case anyone can help out. And yes, this was a poverty game exchange, so I will definitely be completing this. I'm considering a single segment run, as segmented would save my sanity, but increases the time by 10 - 20 seconds for each save.

I need to collect 1000 Dinars (1050 if I can skip straight to buying the bait). It didn't seem like that much, but I guess it was. 500 for 5 medallion, 200 for the deerskin, 300 for the calfskin. Hercules starts the game with 100. Completing the timed challenge in the tutorial nets 50 Dinars. It takes the same amount of time to go through all of that challenge as it does to collect 60 Dinars. There are 3 chests to collect (100 Dinars each) on the way to the first town. After that, there are 0 more that I have found. This means the rest needs to be made up in enemy kills. Most enemies are worth 5 Dinars, while some are 10, and tents are 10 as well.
Magic is worthless. 75 Dinars can take a little over a minute to collect, and magic doesn't save anywhere near that amount of time. The only hope was to use it on Ares, but he's immune to all damage from magic.
The first I found was the double jump. This can only be done when near an interactive object. It works by tricking the engine into thinking you're actually still on the ground. Basically, jump, interact, mash A and jump. It's pretty close to frame precise, and not really reliable for single-segment. So far, it's mostly useless as most events and traveling are item/interaction triggered and not area triggers. I found a place that is passed by 3 times that would benefit 20 seconds each time if achieved on the first or second try. I'm going to go for it though.
The second, and slightly more useful one is running through breakable walls. I've had the most luck with this by diving into the wall, but if there's enough lag/enemies around, I'll sometimes just run through it. It seems that collision with these walls is low priority, and if I can get enough frames where it's not checked, then I can run, jump, or dive through them. This glitch may be easier without the RAM expansion (not sure if the game even utilizes it), but I don't have the jumper module to test that. I use the glitch on the first gate, and if I don't get it within 10 seconds, then I reset. Every other breakable wall, I try to get through with the glitch, but break through if I don't get it on the first or second attempt.
Lastly, another useless glitch. If I land on the very edge of a platform next to something that would cause instant death (bottomless pit), then the game will trigger the death knell scream and cause the camera to lock on the spot where it thinks you're dead. Unfortunately, the AI appears to be unaffected, and will still attack, causing the camera to revert back to normal.
