Okay, I downloaded the normal quality file of a speed run.  After about an hour of waiting, it was ready, and it opened itself on RealPlayer.  It said "Connecting...," but I clicked play to watch it.  It did nothing but play for about one second with a blank screen, and it says  "0:00/0:00" on the side.  Whenever I click play it does the same thing.  Please tell me how to fix it.  Huh?
Thread title:
Have you tried any other video players to watch it?
You got a deletion wish?
DivX Player or anything that plays AVIs are your best bet, depending on your system of choice.

The only other thing that I have is windows media player, and I don't know how to switch it to that.
Try to right mouse click on the file and choose "Open With > Choose Program" and select Windows Media Player.
Or just start Windows Media Player select "File > Open..." and then open the file.

Did you download the DivX codec? If not I'll let you find it's location yourself (not exactly hidden).

Thanks, I got it back to "Connecting..."  The only difference is it's on Window Media Player.  About how long should it take to connect?

Are you downloading the runs? That's greatly preferable to streaming. Just right-click the link and choose 'Save target as...'

I'm not having trouble downloading it.  I just clicked the link and it took an hour to download, then it opened in RealPlayer.  It said "Connecting..." for a while, so I clicked stop.  (I said I clicked play earlier, but I was wrong.)  Then it wouldn't do anything when I clicked play.  I tried opening it with Windows Media Player, and it's been "Connecting..." for about a half hour now.

Ok, answer the question I posed previously - Did you download the DivX codec? It is required to play the runs.

Oh, I do?  Where is it?

Heeheehee*sigh* It states it on every single speedrun page saying you must have it and gives a clear link. Regardless!

(can't post link)

Tongue I found it before I read this.  But anyway, I can't delete the file now, because I can't find it.  I made another thread about it.  Sorry if I over used the phrase "The thing is..."  I should have previewed the post. Sad
