Hello, I was searching this device today and your forums came up.

I decided to open an account to ask for your help.

OK, so I'm going to mod my Nintendo 64 with the Voultar's RGB chip and use HD retrovision SNES component cables to capture footage from it.

*This is the part where you help me or insult me:

NOTE: I'm going to capture from another consoles too (Playstation 1 and 2 [HD Retrovision component cables too], Dreamcast [Hyperkin/Pound HDMI cable or Behabros box], Gamecube [EON GC HDMI or Carby], Wii [Component] and the modern HDMI consoles)

From what I know it's that N64 (and the PS1) stills outputing 240p for some games so I'm searching for a device with these features:

-External (a must)
-240p compatible (I don't want to buy converters/scalers/etc. so this is a must)
-Records to SD card or Hard drive or USB memory (must)
-Inputs: mainly component and HDMI (obviously composite, S-Video, VGA, etc are welcome)
-Works with OBS (I know, I want it all but maybe in the future I want to stream so it's optional)
-Pass trhough to HDMI
-$250 or less

These are the main features I'm looking for, so please can you help me?

NOTE2: you can recommend similar products if what I ask it's only on my dreams but the first three points are must have features

Thank you for your help

Checking from the list of consoles:

Nintendo 64 & Playstation 1 (possibly Playstation 2) - be cautious on games that have a 240p/480i switch, they love to black out for a few seconds during the changes on the resolution.
Dreamcast - The video method you are using are ok budget solutions but are not the best.
DCHDMI (internal mod) has the distinction of being the only output solution to display every game without fail, the 480i only games are a pain for recording because they don't look as good as the other in-game resolution modes.

Judging from your cable connections: There aren't many capture cards that support both HDMI and component 240p. A lot of current capture cards these days are either basic composite cards or HDMI only cards that don't understand the legacy 240p resolution.

I am currently using an X-Capture 1 which has a slot for component cables recording and HDMI slot for newer consoles.
The only issue with the X-Capture 1 is that it's not the most beginner friendly card and it's pretty expensive that it's easily over $250.

You have to install an older firmware driver (before December 2015) to enable 240p support which is vital for N64/PS1 content and
for a reliable local recording (purely gameplay) + livestream setup usually require:
Amerec capture window (X-capture 1) + OBS (use window capture on Amarec).

(Thanks Greena for taking this one...)
