Hey, guys. So I need some Tech Support help, and I figure, the best place to ask is on a site where a lot of the users use it as well.

To start off: I use an AverTV HD DVR for Console Capture (which is amazing,) and I use Component Cables (Monoprice 3-in-1)

Now, I really wanted to use AverMedia Center specifically for the Recording, but I run into two issues if I tried to do that. If I tried to use my Composite Cables with Media Center, my FPS would be locked at 30 FPS, and I don't want to be playing Games at 30 FPS while I recording.

The other issue was that with my Capture Card (I actually tested this with my friend's Official Nintendo ones as well as my 3rd party Monoprice Component Cables,) every 7 - 10 seconds, there would be a 1 - 2 second period where the Framerate literally drops between 15 - 20. I verified that this wasn't my 3rd Party Cable's issue, as I tried having them directly hooked in the TV, and it worked just fine with no Frame Issues at all.

Luckily, I managed to find a perfect Setting in AmaRecTV so that I could completely remove that Framerate Issue (Because I ran into the same issue with every Format choice that was not 720 x 480 or 640 x 480,) and now I can enjoy my Games at 60 FPS just fine.

However, I want to be able to record my Videos (Not specifically for Speedrunning purposes since Speedruns I do are Streamed, but for Youtube.)

This is what I have my Recording Tab set to:

This is what I have my Graph 1 (Device) Tab set to. It has to be this way to get rid of the Framerate Issue I have with Component:

Regardless of what Other Codec I try to use under the Recording Tab, I run into this issue:

Now, honestly, I have no idea as to how to work the Recording for AmaRec. It just seems more complex (which is why I wish I could use Aver MediaCenter,) so I apologize if I am missing some thing, but I would like to know how to fix this, in case I ever have to help out any of my Friends if they run into this issue.

I appreciate the help any one can offer, and hopefully, some thing helps fix the issue.

In the Recording tab, there's an issue with the frame rate. Set that to 60 (or higher). That's the framerate cap Amarec will use, regardless of the capture settings in your device tab.

I can't say I've ever seen the GetFormatSize error before.
I set it to 60, and I still get the error.

That makes no sense though. Why set it to 60 FPS if I am only recording for Youtube, which puts it down to 30 FPS? I know Cosmo records with AmaRec at 30 / 25 FPS when he does CV64 or OoT.

I just wonder why I continue to have the ICCompressGetFormatSize.

Yes the recording tab at 30 is not an issue when we are working with progressive video and the final production format is for YouTube. AmaRec will happily record a 720x480p video at 30 fps. If you're working with anything for like SDA submission, then you would need to set it to 60.

That error you get is most likely a codec issue but since you said you tried them all, I have no idea. I doubt it will do anything but choose Lagarith and set it to YUY2 mode and then try recording. By default it goes to RGB and that might be messing with it.
Okay. This is very interesting.

So yesterday, I tried every Video Codec, including Lagarith, and it would just continue to give me the same error that I listed above.

Then I tried again today with Lagarith, and it worked for 10 seconds, and gave me another error. Afterwards, I tried it again, and it allowed me to record fully.

Unfortunately though, I want to figure out why the other Codecs are not working.

Even though Lagarith works, I would rather not use it, because i'm going to be recording long videos at a time, and it outputs an AVI File. Now, this wouldn't be a problem if I had another Hard Drive specifically for Recording in AVI, but I don't have the money to get one at the moment unfortunately.

So it seems if I don't record for a while and then try again, I get this issue, but it goes away when I record again shortly after:

However, I seem to have ran into this problem (I'll put an Attachment of the Vid.)

I run AmaRecTV on my 24" Samsung SyncMaster TV. When it's in Full Screen with the above Format (720 x 480 fps=59.94 fcc=YUY2 bit=16,) It fills up most of my TV. In the Screenshot I just listed, that is how it looks on my TV. At the end of the Recording though, the Video turns out like this, which you would expect out of an older Game.

Is there a way I can fix it so that it Records as it shows on my TV (In Widescreen,) or would I have to mess with my Format to fix that? If I mess with the Format, I won't be able to use my Component Cables unfortunately.

Try choosing 720x480@29.97fps (At the top of the list you can type the framerate manually). You're capturing over composite, which is an interlaced signal (480i) and only comes in at 29.97. The 59.94 would be for 480p signals coming in over the Component/HDMI.
It looks a tiny bit better, but still not as good as it does on my TV. Black Bars appear on the Side as well, even when I uploaded it to my Youtube. Black Bars are some thing I don't want to see on a Widescreen Game.

Composite on my AverMedia Secondary was the only way I could get my Component Cables to work properly.

I did notice, however, that when I switched to 720x480@29.97fps, that it did kill the Component quality, and makes it look as if I am actually using Composite Cables. I'd like to keep the Quality if possible, so I couldn't stay on 29.97 FPS. I can go to 59.94 FPS and keep it looking like the Attachment, but with Component Quality.

So yeah, mainly, how can I get it to Record Widescreen? Also, how can I make the other Formats work, so I don't have to record in AVI? I'd like to use a good Video Codec that doesn't kill the Quality, but comes out Smaller than AVI.

Still had no luck trying to get the Recording the way I want it to.

EDIT: Okay, so if no one is able to help me with this issue, is there any one here that uses an AverTV HD DVR With Composite? If so, is there some sort of way to make AverMedia Center go for 60 FPS instead of being locked at 30 FPS?

Sorry for taking so long, let's see if we can get Amarec working properly.

Since you've already stated that you have to choose composite to get component capturing to work, it's safe to leave the resolution at 720x480@59.94fps. On the Preview configuration in Amarec, the left pane let's you choose the aspect ratio. Choosing 16:9 will give you proper widescreen. Your recordings should keep that aspect ratio, but if not, then you can run the raw video through Yua and set it for Widescreen before uploading to Youtube.
